Chapter 5 - Chapter 5

Ellen played with her food, unable to take a bite. Her father has stepped out to handle some issues concerning the pack leaving her and Alpha Garret alone.

"How does it feel?" He suddenly asked, his gaze piercing into her as if he was trying to see her soul. "How does what feel?" Ellen asked with a puzzled look.

"You're finally going to get what you want, you are finally going to achieve your goal, how does that feel?" He grimaced.

"I don't understand what you're saying" Ellen replied feeling uncomfortable by the way he was acting. "You soon will, that I promise" Alpha Garret whispered but it was loud enough for Ellen to hear.

Her father returned and rejoined them at the dinner table. "I hope you two are had a good time bonding while I was gone?" The Alpha asked with a teasing smile. "Oh we did, we sure did" Alpha Garret replied with a grin.

Ellen suddenly began to sweat, she didn't want to go on with the marriage. Who knows what Alpha Garret had planned for her. She knew from the beginning that it was all too good to be true, she knew that there was no way he could be willing to marry her except if he had an ulterior motive and he just proved that he did.

She didn't speak again for the rest of the dinner as her father and Alpha Garret kept talking about some business matters while she just sat there like a mannequin on display.

"Since the rest have been finalized, why don't we pick a date for the wedding?" The Alpha asked causing Ellen to choke on her food but neither of the men bothered to check on her or even pass her a glass of water.

"Yes, that's perfect. We should make it next week" Alpha Garret replied with an anxious look, he needed to finalize the deal as possible not only do he could marry Ellen but also for the sake of his pack.

"Isn't that too soon?" Ellen asked, finally contributing to their discussion. The men just pretended not to have heard and and continued with the wedding plans while Ellen watched. She had no say in this, she was just an item used to seal an agreement.

She silently watched as they agreed that the wedding would take place in two weeks time and Alpha Garret would take Ellen to his pack as soon as the wedding ceremonies was over.

"Welcome to the family Garret" Alpha Damien said referring to Garret without his title as they were going to be in-laws and did not need to be formal with each other. "Thank you Father, I promise to take good care of her" Garret replied emphasizing on the"take good care".

Ellen let out a nervous gulp on hearing what he said, she wasn't sure how she was going to survive living with Garret.

When she was little, she always dreamt of getting married to a romantic man who would treat her like she was the most special girl in the world but the moon goddess found a way to twist her dream into a nightmare.

"I'm happy to hear that, thank you for taking your time to come here" Alpha Damien said as the dinner came to an end, "thank you for having me" Garret thanked Alpha Damien and got up to leave.

"Let me walk you to your car" Alpha Damien offered and with that, they left Ellen alone at the dinner table.

Ellen clutched the table cloth tightly as she tried to fight back the tears that were threatening to fall. "What has father gotten me into?" She muttered.

Ellen returned to her room with a gloomy expression. The maids who saw her teased her among themselves and began to spread the word that her date with her sister's mate didn't go well.

She locked herself in her room and buried her face in the pillow, ruining the makeup that the maids had spent hours doing.

"Why is father so selfish, why does he have me so much?" She cried into the pillow, it hadn't been up to a minute when a light knock came in her door.

Ellen immediately knew who it was, she got out bed and wiped off her ruined makeup before proceeding to get the door.

Anna smiley face came in view as the door slid open and so did the basket of fruits, the little kid sure knew when to show up. "I picked this from the garden and washed them for you" she said like always.

Ellen collected the basket from her and let her in, Anna skipped in and sat on the edge of the bed. "I heard from the other maids that your date didn't go as planned, don't worry, you'll find someone who's right for you" Anna said with a naive smile. 'if only she knew' Ellen thought.

She placed the basket on the table and took an apple from it, It was red and juicy, Anna always picked the freshest apples for her.

She took a bite out of it and sat next to Anna on the bed. "Do you believe in true love?" Anna suddenly asked causing Ellen to stop chewing for a while before replying "No, the moon goddess just randomly pairs us with anyone and we are stuck with that person for life".

"Have you found your mate yet?" Anna asked with curious eyes. Ellen suddenly remembered the event of the previous night, that man was definitely her mate but it didn't matter, the man must had known it too but he must not want her as hisnmate.

"No" she lied making Anna's face fall, "I was really hoping that you would have found your mate" she mumbled with a pout, "I guess the moon goddess didn't find me befitting of a mate" Ellen replied with a shrug. "There's no way that you won't have a mate, you just haven't found him yet. Keep looking" Anna assured. Ellen stared at Anna, she really hoped that Anna's life would be easier than hers and her mate woul

d love and treat her the way she deserved to be treated.
