"I'm not sure about these suits," Railyn said as she moved around and looked at herself in the mirror. Her suit was mainly blue with some black. It had a color that hugged her neck but went down her chest slightly in a V shape.
"I like them," Lindsey said as she stared into the mirror at herself. She wore a white suit that covered her whole body and went up and around her face forming into a mask.
"We're the real deal now," Elian said walking into the office wearing a green and gold suit. Derek walked into the office. "I found some police scanners," he said holding 3 scanners in his hand. "This isn't enough for all of us," Raelyn said as Derek handed one to her.
"Until we can get more I suggest separating into 3 teams," he told her. "We're short on funds and this is the best we can do right now," he said.
Samantha suddenly appeared in the doorway. "Come to the TV you guys need to see this," she said before speeding off. Lindsey, Derek, Elian, and Railyn followed as fast as they could behind her.
"In other news, we learn that the myth of Forge City Nightingale may not be a myth after all" a news anchor said on the tv as they entered the room.
"Over the past few days, reports of sightings from all over the city of the masked vigilante known as Nightingale have been made. This comes after a 3-year absence in Forge City" the news anchor continued. "Though we do not have any physical proof of the vigilante's return, crime rates have already gone down 5% in the last 4 days" the news anchor added.
"Looks like someone stole your idea," Mark said turning to Railyn. "I remember hearing about Nightingale from my brother," Raelyn said. "If I remember right she wasn't an unwanted just some masked hero that vanished like she appeared, out of thin air" Raelyn added.
"So you're not worried then?" Lindsey asked. "No" Raelyn replied. "We still move forward with our plan," she told them.
"Here's how it's gonna go," she said as Lindsey, Elian, Samantha, Mark, Magenta, and Ben all grouped.
"Tomorrow, I want Beam and Speed to take the north of the city," she told them "You're calling us by our hero name!" Sam said all excited. "Gotta get used to it because that's the whole point of them," she told her. "I want Ice and Vanish in the east and Veil, Tricity and I will take the west and south since we have the bigger group," Raelyn told them. "Are you sure we can handle that?" Elian asked "I am," Raelyn told her. "Now Lindsey, Elian, and I will be able to communicate with my telepathy but you 4 will be out of my range so I suggest keeping your phone in a safe spot in your suits if there are any problems," Raelyn told them.
And with that, they believed they were as prepared as they needed to be. How naive.
The next day they went out into the city. Each group took their respective positions on top of rooftops as they waited for the police scanner to go off.
"Robbery in progress on the corner of 6th and Main" Veil said as she attached the scanner back to her waste. Psyche gave a nod. "Let's move," Psyche said as she used her telekinesis to lift the 3 of them off the building making it appear as if they flying.
They landed on a building across from the bank it was already a standoff. The robbers held hostages inside and the police surrounded the building.
Psyche closed her eyes and focused for a moment. "Anyone moves and their dead" she heard in her mind. "Veil I need you to take us inside," Psyche said turning to Veil. "I turn invisible not go through walls," Veil told her. "I know," Psyche said simply. Veil grabbed Psyche's and Tricity's hands and in the blink of an eye turned them invisible.
Psyche used her telekinesis to lift them off the roof and float them over to the roof of the bank. When they landed they ran to the door that was on the roof. "It's locked," Tricity said as she tried to open the door. "It's keypad based" veil cut in. "Tricity use your power to short out the keypad and open the door," she told her. Tricity nodded and put her hand about an inch above the keypad.
She zapped the keypad shorting it out and the door automatically opened. The girls ran downstairs to the main floor of the bank. Veil grabbed their hands again and turned them invisible.
They got in but how the hell were they going to save the people? Veil thought. -We're gonna have to fight- Psyche's voice appeared in her mind. -sneak us into the middle of the room then we attack- she added.
The 3 of them quietly went to the middle of the room. There were 6 robbers each with a weapon of their own. -protect the hostages at all cost- psyche told the girls as they became visible again.
"Who the hell are you! one of the robbers snapped as Psyche, Veil, and Tricity quickly became surrounded by the robbers. "Attack," said Psyche as she threw her right arm up throwing 2 of the robbers across the bank. Tricity turned and zapped a robber and Veil turned invisible and began to fight another. "I suggest you stop this little hero game you're playing here and now," one of the robbers said as he held a gun to one of the hostage's heads. Psyche, Tricity, and Veil froze. It was a young child, a girl no older than 10. She looked up as psyche with tears brimming her eyes.
"what do you want?" Psyche asked "I want what I asked the police for," he told her -if any of them make one move I'm blowing this kid's brains out he thought as psyche read his mind.
Suddenly the sound of glass breaking caught the attention of everyone. A masked hero in a black suit with a green bird symbol on her chest crashed through the window. "NO BODY MOVE" the robber holding a gun to the Child's head yelled.
"Who the hell are you?" the man asked through gritted teeth as the hero stood up. "Nightingale" she answered
