When Damien woke up to the urge to pee, it was already night.
Moonlight filtered in through the window, but he could barely see anything in the dark. He was worried about causing a fuss without knowing the time, but then he realized that wetting the bed would be a much bigger issue. He quickly grabbed the bell from the side table and rang it.
The clear ringing sound echoed through the stillness of the night louder than he had expected.
Suddenly, there was a loud crash from the room next door.
Fear gripped him.
Was there someone in the room next to his? What time was it, anyway? Had the person who came to inform him about dinner stayed in the other room, waiting this whole time?
As the thought crossed his mind, a chill ran down his spine, momentarily making him forget about his need to use the bathroom. Had he missed dinner entirely?
What would happen if Theo was upset with him?
Just as he was starting to panic, there was a knock at the bedroom door.
Oh no… what have I done? Damien thought, his face turned pale.
He waited for a moment, but the door didn't open.
Didn't someone knock just now?
The knock came again.
Curious and confused, he hesitated for a moment before finally speaking up.
"Yes, come in."
"Excuse me. Is there something you need?" Sebas asked as he entered the room.
It seemed Sebas had been waiting for Damien to give permission before entering. Come to think of it, Damien vaguely remembered being taught during his exam prep that one should only enter a room after receiving a response to their knock.
But being the one on the other side of the door was a first for Damien, and he'd completely forgotten that detail. He really wasn't handling this well.
"My apologies for bothering you," Damien said hurriedly. "It seems I fell asleep. I'm terribly sorry. Have I missed dinner?"
"No, we will have it prepared for you right away," Sebas responded.
So he had missed it.
"Oh, I see… Well, I'm not very hungry at the moment, so it's fine if I wait until breakfast with everyone. I'm terribly sorry for not showing up earlier."
Damien didn't want to say it, but a part of him was thinking, You could've woken me up!
"No need to apologize," Sebas said smoothly. "However, the doctor recommended that you eat something, even if it's just a small bite, once you wake up. If you feel up to it, I can bring a meal right away."
Would it be rude to refuse at this point? As Damien was lost in thought, his stomach growled loudly.
Embarrassed, he responded, "Um… yes, thank you. I'll take you up on that offer."
"Understood. I'll have it brought to you shortly. Please wait just a moment."
As Sebas turned around to leave, Damien suddenly remembered the real reason he had rung the bell.
"Ah, um…!"
"Yes? What is it?" Sebas asked, pausing.
"The bathroom…?" Damien mumbled awkwardly.
