Arba'a had cried himself to sleep, and Thalatha had, though reluctant, shed tears as well. Damien's mission was nearly complete.

"Alright, Ithnan, you're the last one," Damien announced.

"N-no, I… I am fine…" Ithnan stammered, slowly backing away.

"Ithnan, come here," Damien ordered firmly.

"...Yes, sir…" Ithnan sighed, reluctantly stepping forward.

As he stood stiffly before Damien, Ithnan began to speak. "You saved our lives and have shown such kindness to my brothers…"

Damien tilted his head, noticing that Ithnan was taller—about half a head higher than him.

"Ithnan! Bend down!" Damien commanded.

"Yes, sir!" Ithnan crouched just enough for Damien to pull his head into his arms.

"Good, that's better." Damien hugged him gently. "You've worked so hard for your brothers. It's okay now. You can relax."

As he spoke softly, Damien stroked Ithnan's head with care.
