Aria and Axel stood before the school board, anxiety gripping their hearts.
"The evidence against you is overwhelming," Chairperson Patel said, her voice firm. "Your pranks have disrupted school activities, compromised safety, and tarnished Oakwood Academy's reputation."
Aria's eyes dropped, shame and regret washing over her.
Axel spoke up, his voice resolute. "We understand our mistakes and take full responsibility."
The board members exchanged skeptical glances.
"After careful consideration," Chairperson Patel continued, "we have decided..."
Pauses hung in the air like daggers.
"...to spare you expulsion, but with severe consequences."
Aria's heart skipped a beat.
"You will serve a four-week suspension, complete 100 hours of community service, and participate in counseling sessions."
Axel exhaled, relief etched on his face.
"But there's more," Chairperson Patel added. "You will also work with Mrs. Thompson to create a positive school project, showcasing Oakwood's values."
Aria's eyes met Axel's, a spark of determination igniting.
"We won't let you down," Aria promised.
Chairperson Patel nodded. "See that you don't."
As they left, Aria turned to Axel.
"That was close."
Axel grinned. "Time to make it right."
