Chapter 20 - Conference

Arjun chuckled, sensing Vikram's inner turmoil. He placed a hand on his brother's shoulder, a sly grin playing on his lips.

"Haha, don't worry, brother, I understand you," he said, his voice laced with amusement and reassurance.

The tension in the room felt almost palpable, but Arjun's lighthearted tone made it clear he wasn't pushing any further—for now.

With a final, knowing glance at the portrait of Kavya, he turned and strode confidently out of the room, leaving Vikram alone with his racing thoughts and the heat that still pulsed through his body.

Arjun spent the rest of the day immersed in preparations for the coming war. He began by sharpening his sword, the rhythmic scraping of metal on stone echoing through the chamber. Each stroke was precise, the blade growing sharper with every pass, glinting in the dim light.

His thoughts were focused, the weight of his responsibilities settling on his shoulders. As he worked, the sound of clashing steel outside reminded him of what lay ahead, his mind running through strategies and the inevitable bloodshed.

Once his sword was ready, Arjun strode out to inspect the army. Rows of soldiers stood in formation, their armor gleaming in the afternoon sun, banners fluttering in the breeze.

He moved through the ranks, his keen eyes scanning each soldier's stance and readiness. There was an air of anticipation in the camp, a mix of fear and determination as they prepared for the battle ahead.

Arjun's presence brought a wave of confidence to the men; they knew their prince would lead them fiercely. He exchanged words with the commanders, discussing formations, supplies, and strategies that would give them the upper hand in battle.

As the sun dipped lower in the sky, casting a golden hue over the camp, Arjun took a moment to stand at the edge of the training grounds.

He watched as soldiers drilled tirelessly, the clang of swords and shields filling the air. His heart was steady, his mind clear—he was ready for war.

Every part of him was aligned with the purpose of protecting his kingdom, but beneath the surface, lingering thoughts of the intimate conversations from earlier flitted through his mind, mixing with the tension of the looming battle.

As night fell, Arjun dismissed the soldiers and commanders, signaling the end of their long day of preparation. He returned to his chambers and carefully changed into his luxurious war attire—a finely crafted armor adorned with intricate gold detailing, a long, flowing royal cape, and a jeweled belt that glistened under the candlelight.

The weight of his armor felt empowering, yet there was a regal elegance to it. Once ready, he made his way to the grand conference room, where the final decisions would be made before the march to war.

Upon entering, Arjun saw his father, King Ramesh Pratap, seated at the head of the long table, his expression serious and commanding. Queen Anaya sat beside him, her presence graceful yet firm, offering silent support.

On either side of the royal couple, Arjun's stepmothers—Meera, Kavya, Leela, and Priya—occupied seats of importance, their beauty as striking as ever even in the midst of war preparations.

Their eyes followed Arjun as he approached, and he couldn't help but feel their attention, but tonight, his focus was on the impending battle. He greeted them all with a nod, before taking his place at the table, ready to discuss the final strategies for the war that lay ahead.

Moments after Arjun took his seat, the heavy doors of the conference room creaked open, and the commanders entered. Leading them was the Supreme Commander, a seasoned warrior with a scarred face that spoke of countless battles fought and won.

His imposing figure exuded authority, and his armor gleamed under the torchlight as he strode in, followed closely by the Royal Commander, a younger but fiercely capable leader, known for his sharp tactics and loyalty to the crown.

The Minister of War joined them, dressed in fine robes, his sharp intellect evident in the careful way he observed the room.

He was the mastermind behind the kingdom's war strategy, responsible for ensuring that every decision was calculated and precise.

As they all gathered around the grand table, tension filled the air. Each man nodded respectfully to the king and queen before taking their places, ready to discuss the kingdom's battle plans in detail.

The weight of the kingdom's future rested on this meeting, and everyone present knew the gravity of the choices they were about to make.
