When Amara opened her eyes, she was greeted with a vast stretch of darkness and the faint sound of waves crashing in the distance.
Amara did not realize when she had dozed off in the car. She had been looking out of the window as Rafael drove and somehow, the exhaustion had taken over.
She immediately turned to find Rafael once she thought of him but the car was empty. Amara opened the door and stepped out by herself. There was a small row of shops by the road and the car was parked in an isolated space away from the public view.
She had just taken a step forward when her heel slipped into the loose sand. She lost her footing and closed her eyes, readying herself for the fall.
But the expected fall never came. Instead, a strong arm wrapped around her waist, propelling her back to her feet. Before she could let the touch register, the arm was gone.
''You should remove those, Your Highness.''
