"Why did I send her away?" I said while looking at the board filled with missions for adventurers to take. I was in my armor, and as for the person I was talking about it was the redhead I ran into yesterday and gave my potion to, she was called Brita, and she was Iron Rank. The ranks for an adventurer went as, Copper - Iron - Silver - Gold - Platinum - Mithril - Orichalcum - Adamantite.
Anyway, I couldn't read this world language, so what was I supposed to do right now? I thought for some time, before looking over to Toph... well, she was useless here, she couldn't see,
I sighed before walking over to the woman behind the counter. I ignored everyone who was eyeing me, too lazy to care for them.
"Excuse me, but I'm looking for a quest that best suits my skills. My teammate can cast magic of the 3rd tier, while I have the skills of a fighter to match her. We just started as an adventurer and so we have to start from the lowest rank." I said calmly, stunning not just the woman, but the whole adventurer gild.
This is because 3rd tier was considered the peak of humanity in this world, for people to go beyond that, they would be seen as gods or something like that.
"I'm sorry, but the best I could do is give you a quest asking for a copper rank adventurer." She said to which I nodded in understanding.
"I understand, but then may I get a quest that could best help me rank up?" I asked to which she nodded, but before she could move, I was called out.
"Hey Mr, you two can join our guild if you want." A man leading a group of 4 said calling out to me. I looked over and saw that the man who called out to me was a blonde-haired man, he was a handsome swordsman. At his side was another handsome blonde-haired man who seemed to be an archer. At their back was a man with a beard, who had a bulky figure, and lastly was the shortest member. It was unclear if it was a she or a he, but whatever she/he gender was, it carried a staff showing it was a mage.
"Oh, why so?" I asked in interest, the leader of the group, the swordsman asked to go upstairs so we could speak. I agreed and we went upstairs.
"Allow me to introduce everyone. We're The Swords Of Darkness, I'm Peter Mauk the group leader." The swordsman said with a smile, while I looked at the shadow above his head which showed he was fated to die. His death was written in stone, and that fate seems to grow more solid every time I plan to join them and change when I plan not to join them.
Oh, this was another skill I created for myself. The Eyes Of Death was a passive skill I gained while trying to create a skill that would allow me to sense killing intent no matter how faint, and kill the person throwing that killing intent towards me with a thought.
"This is our ranger, Lukrut Volve. he is our eyes and ears out there," Peter said gesturing to the archer, who also had the shadow of death above him. He tried to catch Toph's attention, only to realize she was blind.
"This is our capable druid, he uses magic to support and heal us. His name is Dyne Woodwonder." Peter said to which the bulky guy smiled while waving at us with a gentle smile, only to realize Toph didn't see their action... although he was caught off guard with Toph nodding back.
"Lastly, the brains of our group, Ninya the spell caster," Peter said pointing towards the person who I came to find out was a girl thanks to Toph.
"Hey... Peter, I told you to stop calling me that. It's embarrassing." Ninya said embarrassed by the name.
"Why, you know you should be proud of it," Peter said with a smile, while Lukrut went on to explain sensing our confusion.
"You see, Ninya is a talent holder," Lukrut said stunning me. For talent holders in this world hold unique abilities. Some talent holders simply had the power to walk on water, with some talent holders having the power to copy any form of magic they see.
"Ninya has a talent called Magic Affinity, it allows him to learn magic twice as fast compared to others," Ninya said causing my eyes to narrow. I was looking forward to finding such a person, wanting to see what was so special about talent holders.
Anyways, they went on to speak about talents and soon dropped a name. Someone called Nfirea Bareare was the number one talent holder in the city. My eyes narrowed, wanting to know more about his talent, but I had to first introduce myself.
"My name is Momon, this here is Toph," I said to which Toph waved at everyone there, and they all waved back, just to pause to realize she was blind.
"So, what talent does Nfirea hold?" I asked
"You don't know? Then there is no way you're from around here." Peter said to which I nodded, explaining how I arrived yesterday. He went on to explain more about Nifiirea, making me realize that Nfirea was my target. He was the alchemist who visited Carna village, and he also held a talent that allowed him to use any magical item, bypassing its requirement to use... I will kill him.
"Well, onto the topic of why we want your help. Our current mission is to destroy all of the monsters that have wandered too close to the city." Peter said going on to explain the type of mission this was.
Pretty much, this was an off-the-book mission. The adventurer guild wasn't giving them the mission, but they would be rewarded and paid depending on the strength of the monsters they managed to kill. This experience would help us rise beyond a copper-rank adventure and would do more good for us depending on how powerful the monsters were.
"Momon!" Brita called out while running towards me, I looked over in confusion and saw she was being followed by a blonde-haired kid who had hair covering his face.
"Nfirea wishes to hire you on a mission," Brita said causing me to pause,
Within Nazarick, Demiurge who had been watching me all this time paused seeing this. His eyes widened seeing just how grand my foresight was.
"Truly. Lord Ainz Ooal Gown, worthy of being the leader of the supreme ones. To think all of the pieces fell so perfectly together," Demiurge roared, causing those near him who were working to jump slightly but the outburst...
"Oh, I almost forgot to show you all my face. I got too used to wearing this helmet." Walking down the road outside the city, I was joined by Brita and Toph who were walking at my side. Ahead of us were the members of Swords of Darkness and Nifrea who was in the center of all of us.
At my words, everyone turned around to look at me. Meanwhile, I removed my helmet, revealing my beautiful golden eyes to all of them.
"..." Everyone froze, stunned by my charm. Like how the NPC in Nazarick had the charm of a goddess, I too had godly charm, although my charm was an edge above them, seemingly thanks to me being a former player.
Lukrut sighed seeing why Toph ignored his attempts to flirt with her, while Brita and Ninya found themselves developing a crush on me.
"Due to reason, I keep this helmet on," I said calmly, sighing as taking on a human form used a lot of MP, and it used a lot of MP to remain alive, or else I would age at a fast rate. At most, I could stay in this human form for 3 hours. 1 minute without supplying MP,
"I understand," Nfirea said, having regrets for bringing me. If he knew I was so handsome... well, he would have never neared me...
Elsewhere, a meeting between 2 people took place, scheming to get Nfirea for their personal goals.
