It's been like an hour or so since the others have woken up. Apart from my two younger brothers who were put to bed, only Dad, Mom and sis were awake. It felt like a lot happened in that short moment and although I'm still wary about the situation, at the same time I feel a kind of comfort despite the seriousness of the situation.
We all sat in my room with dad and mom sitting on the only two chairs in the room and sis and I on the bed. Kiri was on the floor at the corner of the room still sulking and her head down. We left her be and she's harmlessly quiet for now. Although I still have my guard up just in case and I'm just gonna be thankful nothing worse happens.
I seriously have a lot of questions to ask but for now I'm gonna just sit here and look at my family blank faces. Haha this is too funny. I had told them the current situation but they had to give me these expressions, especially my dad. I probably won't forget that face forever. Never. He looked so lost and so excited at the same time. Does he think this is a story camp?
Dad took a lean at the back of the chair he is at and said things like how he can't really believe what he's hearing right but somehow judge it would feel more weird if he didn't believe it. After all, I made Kiri proof it and with a single swish of her fingers, my brothers who had woken up were asleep again. But dad had to add,
"I believe you son. After all, my son would never have been able to bring home a beautiful girl in the middle of the night anyway. The boy had no dating skills after all. What a waste of good looks."
And everyone nodded to that and claimed that it was true. C'mon guys how could you choose to believe me because of that lame reason.
That hurts me more than I expected. The fact that you all chose that reason to trust me. But that's better. I was a bit skeptical and thought that there is no way in hell they would believe all that and so quickly accepted it too. Aren't you guys too easy going?
Mom, who was silent the whole time, finally spoke and asked me, "So… What are you gonna do next? I'm seriously lost right now. I have no clue whatsoever, what to say or ask? But when you talk about demons and all… My great grandmother used to tell us stories about demons when we were kids but I never thought that perhaps those stories could be real too?"
Dad also joined in the conversation, "Yes I remember being scared as a child because my parents would warn us about demons. Son, are you sure leaving this 'girl' like this is a good thing? Won't she retaliate. And I'm not very convinced by that 'magic circle chain thing' you told us.
I reassured him although I was not sure. I still have other important questions to ask too anyway so I'll take this chance while she is being obedient and ask her questions.
''Hmm Kiri you said something about spirit. What did you mean by that?''
Kiri took a short pause as if she was trying her hardest to not say anything but her face suddenly softened as if she had forcibly calmed herself, sigh and started talking.
"Spiritual Presence. In other words the strength of your soul or spirit or maybe your aura. I don't really know how to explain it but I can feel it and see it. Most demons do. And how it influences you and your surroundings. And why are you asking me that? With that level of spiritual energy you should have noticed all the weird things around you that normal humans cannot perceive. I've read it's also a form of energy or something like that."
''I don't get it. What do you mean by weird things around me? Something supernatural??''
Kiri stood up and walked to the window facing the street and looked around a bit. She then called me to the window but everyone joined in.
She pointed to a direction a bit far away to where a man was standing under the streetlamp.
She asked, "Do you see that man way over there?"
''Of course I can see him he is not even that far.''
The others peeked outside too and looked around trying to see the man.
Dad asked, "So, where is this man you are talking about?"
"Right over there the one under the street post."
My sis also kept asking, "Yeah so where is he?".
"You guys need to get your eyes check"
Mom then added, " But how could there be anyone out there at this time. It's 3 AM, you know."
The moment mom said that my eyes opened wide and I looked over at Kiri.
Kiri looked back at me and responded, "You get it don't you? The only ones who can see him are you and me."
''What do you mean by that?''
"I was thinking something was weird but now I understand. It's not that you did not notice the weird thing around you? Your spiritual energy is so pure that your eyes could no longer even distinguish between a human and a Ghost."
I was left speechless..... Maybe because no one close to me has ever died that might be the reason why I have never met 'dead people' and even if I did I would only perceive them as strangers in their everyday life. If I were to see my dead father in the street maybe I would have come to question myself.
"Well I think that ghosts and low form spirits avoid you too anyway. So it's much more difficult to notice those things."
That explains a lot but…''Why is that?'' I asked her.
Kiri stretched her arms downwards seeing as she's a bit calm now and said "Someone with high spiritual presence would only come out of a Demon or an Exorcist."
'' Exorcist?!" I exclaimed. "You mean those cool demon slaying psychos actually exist. Whoa....Tell me more!!''
At this point Kiri seemed to have already given up trying to resist answering me and now she seemed like any talkative girl. She quickly replied to my question too.
"Yup, they exist. It's because of their existence that I chose this family located out of the exorcist faction and it was specially located for me. After all, only a few demons could choose their area to pass the final test. Else I would have landed somewhere else if I had gone through the normal procedures."
''Hoho..in other words you are not a normal demon..you did say something about being the daughter of a noble demon.''
"For someone who looked stupid you actually remember that. Well I guess I'm the stupid one for failing. I wonder how I am going to return after a total failure like this one.", Kiri said that and took a deep sigh. But I heard an interesting word she just said. I quickly approached her and asked.
''Return? You mean you could go back to wherever you came from? You are from the demon world right? Ohh how I wonder what that world looks like. I'm so curious to know. I wonder if it's how I picture it? ...Hmmm hihi.. If that is so, you can return but do you mind taking me with you?''
Kiri looked at me in disbelief after all why would a human want to go to the Demon world.
"Huh why would I do something like th--?". She was about to say something but suddenly paused.
"Hmmm??"
My Dad hearing what I said was furious and tried to scold me, "Hoi what do you think you're saying brat! Going where? See if you dare t-"
Before he could end his sentence, Kiri said a few words I could not understand and before I could react, my family was back to being unconscious. I totally forgot they were in the room too.
''Kiri, what do you think your doing?'' I asked her.
Kiri, who was stern and serious throughout, finally smiled for the first time. She looked at me and quickly said, "Don't worry about it. I only cast a sleeping spell, they will wake up soon. Anyway human, what do you think of going to the demon world with me?"
