Chapter 16 - Chapter Sixteen

Silvia's POV

Erwin took a deep breath, his eyes locked onto mine. "It starts with our family's history," he began, his voice low and measured.

"I never knew I had a family," I interrupted, my words barely above a whisper.

Erwin's expression softened. "You deserve to know the truth, Silvia. Our family was once the most powerful in the supernatural world."

Xavier's eyes narrowed. "Get to the point, Erwin."

Erwin's gaze never wavered. "Our parents—your parents—were the rulers of the supernatural world. They were loved and respected by all."

My mind reeled. Rulers? Loved and respected?

"What happened to them?" I asked, my voice shaking.

Erwin's face twisted in pain. "My father... he killed them. He sought power and control, even among his own family, and he was willing to do anything to achieve it. He would go as far as killing you and anyone in his way to do that."

The room fell silent, the weight of Erwin's words hanging in the air.

"You are lying," Xavier growled. "The old king and queen died over a hundred years ago. There's no way she was born a hundred years ago. We grew up together—" He whispered the last part, his voice trembling.

Erwin's eyes flashed with desperation. "You don't understand, Alpha Xavier. Silvia's parents... they weren't just any rulers. They were powerful enough to manipulate time itself. It is said that they were blessed by the goddess Selena herself."

Xavier's skepticism deepened. "Time manipulation? That's a myth."

Erwin's voice rose. "It's not a myth! My father has been using their research to further his own power. And Silvia... she's the key."

I felt a chill run down my spine. "What do you mean?"

Erwin's gaze locked onto mine. "You're not just their daughter, Silvia. You're their legacy. Your powers... they're just beginning to awaken."

Xavier's growl softened, replaced by curiosity. "What powers?"

Erwin hesitated before answering. "Ice and water. The elements of life and death. Silvia's parents could control time, but she... she has the potential to control the very fabric of reality. You've done it before, Silvia, even before what happened today."

"What even happened today? Did you plan it… to test me?" I asked, anger rising in my chest as I recalled the chaos of the day.

"I need to go." I looked at Xavier, feeling overwhelmed. I couldn't stay here any longer. Everything had spiraled so quickly since my arrival.

Xavier's expression softened, understanding etched on his face. "Silvia, I'll take you wherever you want to go."

Erwin's eyes widened in alarm. "No, Silvia, you can't leave! You're not safe!"

I stood, my mind reeling. "I need space, Erwin. Too much has happened."

Xavier nodded. "I'll keep her safe, Erwin. You've already put her in enough danger."

Erwin's face twisted in frustration. "You don't understand! My father—"

"I don't care about your father right now," I interrupted, exhaustion creeping into my voice. "I care about getting out of here. To be honest, I don't believe you."

"You have to believe me, Silvia. I promise I am not lying." Desperation coated Erwin's face.

"Even if I were to believe you, Erwin, who's to say you're not setting me up to kill me yourself for your father?" His shocked silence confirmed my suspicion. "I wish you would believe me. It is too dangerous for you out there."

Xavier gestured toward the door. "Let's go."

As we exited the cell, Logan fell into step beside us. "I'm sorry, Xavier. I was weak and should have waited to see what he came here for. I lost control."

"It's okay. You just found your mate, and I am happy for you. Just don't lose control like that ever again. You are my beta and my friend. I trust you to always do what's right."

"I am sorry." They fell into a brief embrace, Xavier whispering, "It's okay."

"Take care of Erwin and the pack. You and my sister. Tell her what happened today; you know how she is. I will see you in a few."

After the farewells, Xavier took my hand, and we walked out together in silence. The air between us felt charged with unspoken thoughts.

He led me to a safe house—a little cabin deep in the woods. I couldn't deny my gratitude for everything Xavier had done since I was found at the foot of his pack.

In his wolf form, he was a magnificent beast, towering and majestic. I wondered what he truly was as we made our way to the cabin. He was the softest wolf I had ever touched, not that I had touched many wolves, if any at all.

I wrapped my arms around Xavier's thick neck, feeling the warmth of his fur as he moved effortlessly through the forest. His wolf form was breathtaking—a massive brown Lycan with eyes that burned like embers.

As I wrapped my arms around him, his warm fur sent shivers down my spine. The rhythmic pounding of his paws on the earthy forest floor resonated deep within me. With each stride, his muscles rippled beneath me, sending waves of heat through my body.

I felt my cheeks flush, my breath catching in my throat. The proximity to Xavier's powerful form, mixed with the scent of wild woods and male musk, ignited a flutter in my chest. My fingers intertwined with his fur, and I couldn't help but notice the strength and gentleness beneath me.

The forest blurred around us, leaving only Xavier's broad shoulders, sleek fur, and those piercing red eyes. My thoughts drifted to the contours of his human form, his chiseled features, and his commanding presence.

A thrill coursed through me as Xavier's wolfish scent mingled with the woodsy aroma, intoxicating me. My body responded, betraying my growing attraction. I tightened my grip, pressing closer to his warmth.

As I pressed closer, Xavier's pace slowed, his ears twitching. A low, rumbling growl vibrated through his chest, sending a shiver down my spine. Electricity coursed through my veins as I leaned in closer. It wasn't menacing, just a subtle warning.

Realization dawned on me; my attraction had been evident. Embarrassment washed over me, and I loosened my grip, trying to create some distance.

Xavier's growl softened, his pace steady once more. His red eyes flicked toward me, holding a hint of surprise—and something else, a spark of interest.

I averted my gaze, focusing on the forest ahead. The silence between us grew thicker, heavy with unspoken tension.

As we moved deeper into the woods, the trees blurred together, their leaves rustling in the gentle breeze. Xavier's pace remained steady, his muscles rippling beneath me.

The forest grew denser, the canopy overhead filtering the fading light. Xavier's red eyes seemed to glow in the dimness, guiding us through the shadows.

Finally, the trees parted, revealing a cozy cabin nestled among the foliage. Smoke drifted lazily from the chimney, carrying the scent of wood smoke and warmth.

Xavier halted before the cabin, and I slid off his back, my hands lingering on his fur.

"Thank you," I whispered, meeting his gaze.

He shifted into his human form, standing tall and powerful.

"Welcome to my little getaway."
