Chapter 69 - Alyssa’s Defeat

Ethan and I sat in a quiet, almost sacred silence, the kind of silence that fills the space between two souls who've just waded through the storm and are now waiting for it to calm.

I leaned back into the plush couch, my fingers still lightly wrapped around his.

It felt surreal. It felt... like we were finally here. After all the games Alyssa played, all the manipulation, the lies, we had exposed her, and it was over, right?

The truth was out. She was trapped in her own web of deceit. I should have felt relief.

But all I could feel was an unsettling knot in my stomach.

"I thought once we exposed the truth, everything would be over," I said, letting out a soft sigh, staring at the ornate wallpaper of the mansion that had never seemed so heavy. "But it's only just beginning, isn't it?"

Ethan's hand squeezed mine, grounding me. His presence always did that—calming my racing thoughts.
