I stood in front of the mirror, adjusting my casual outfit—nothing too fancy, just a white blouse and jeans. I wasn't trying to impress anyone, just heading out for a quiet dinner with Kevin.
At least, that's what I thought.
Kevin had messaged me earlier, inviting me to have dinner together to thank me for helping him out with the assignment. His message sounded casual enough, just like any other dinner we might have.
He mentioned a place in the city I didn't recognize, but I figured it was a local diner or restaurant. I'd never been picky about dining locations, so I didn't think much of it.
I texted back, agreeing to meet up at 7 PM, and felt a small sense of excitement. It would be nice to have some time away from my overbearing brothers. Maybe this would be a chance for Kevin and me to talk more, become good friends.
I left the house, the cool evening air brushing against my face. I was looking forward to the evening ahead, or so I thought.
