It was a typical Monday morning. I was strolling to class with my friends, Mariya, Abby, and Randy. As we settled into our seats, our homeroom teacher arrived. To our surprise, the principal followed. I braced myself for a scolding, but instead, he announced that a new student was joining our class.
Jake Anderson, a lanky, quiet boy, seemed out of place in our lively group. Our teacher assigned him a seat beside me. As the classes began, my mind wandered to the upcoming handball game. I couldn't wait for the bell to ring.
During the break, Jake introduced himself. We struck up a conversation, and I found him surprisingly interesting. At the end of the break, he asked to borrow my notes from the previous classes.
As we headed to the handball court, Randy and Mariya started teasing me about my newfound interest in Jake. I tried to play it cool, but a blush crept across my face. I realized with a start that I might be developing feelings for him.To hide my embarrassment, I put on a disgusted expression.
