Chapter 120 - Chapter 120: Research Loan

"Thank you very much for agreeing to this interview and sharing so much valuable information. I wish you many more achievements and breakthroughs in your future research endeavors!"

"I also thank everyone for their support and attention. I will continue to work hard to contribute more to the peace and security of PLANT and ZAFT!"

A few days after the TV interview, He Kui arrived at the branch of the renowned [PLANT Development Bank].

As a state-owned bank, the Development Bank was quite large, and He Kui didn't even need to leave the Hailan Design Bureau, as a branch was located within it.

It wasn't much different from the banks in He Kui's memory, except that it was rather deserted.

In wartime, public trust in the government naturally waned, and fewer people were interested in buying financial products.

Rows of transparent service windows were manned by only three staff members.

Since He Kui had contacted them in advance, a well-dressed man with gold-rimmed glasses soon emerged from the office.

"Nice to meet you, I'm Clark Sandoval, a senior client manager at PLANT Development Bank."

"On behalf of the PLANT Development Bank, welcome, Director He."

Clark's enthusiastic demeanor reminded He Kui of salespeople trying to sell him insurance in his past life.

But that made sense; some things never change.

"Hello."

With this thought, He Kui composed himself and followed Clark to one of the luxuriously decorated VIP meeting rooms inside.

The tea smelled as if it was imported from Earth; overall, it was indeed opulent.

"So, Director He, what brings you here today?"

"Actually, I recently developed a new type of MS, and it's been selling well. I want to use the future dividends outlined in the contract for the next ten years as collateral and security to apply for a research and technology loan from your bank."

"I see, understood."

Clark received the contract on the screen in front of him and began reviewing it seriously.

"I didn't realize the recent new MS was your work. I was very impressed when I saw the news mention you as an MS researcher."

Clark said warmly, closing the screen before continuing.

"Ten years, with a 3% dividend. Based on the current monthly sales of thirty units, that's about six hundred thousand in revenue, isn't it?"

That amounts to about six million a year, sixty million over ten years.

Not excessively wealthy, but not insignificant either.

"Forgive me for asking, but will Director He be responsible for the maintenance and upgrades of this new MS in the future?"

"Yes, I will be fully responsible."

"But that's a long-term dividend. I currently want to borrow some funds to research new technology."

Sixty thousand a month is appealing for the old He Kui.

But given his current production rate, three million in materials per month is the limit.

Since he can't use it all, there's no point in having so much money. What, take it to the grave?

It's almost the end of the year, and the main plot is about to start.

Before it does, he might at most make a million, never mind what the world will look like in ten years. If unlucky, the world might end.

Better to cash out now.

"Alright, do you have any plans, Director He?"

Upon hearing this, He Kui, already prepared, scanned his wristband, sending another proposal to Clark.

He had painstakingly prepared this hydro-mineral purification and development proposal, revising and refining it until now.

Armed with the knowledge in his mind, He Kui put a lot of effort into the advanced dynamic PPT, meticulously detailing every theoretical data and analysis.

"New hydro-mineral purification, a thirty-million loan."

As the Design Bureau's manager, Clark specialized in research loans and was well-versed in such matters.

He was even an A-Level researcher himself.

But this potential-laden proposal, complete with comprehensive raw data, was a first for him.

While excellent data doesn't guarantee project success.

For someone like He Kui, who developed beam rifles, high-energy pulse cannons, and even the Coordinator Shield, they were willing to be more lenient.

"How confident is Director He in completing this within three years? And will additional funding be needed?"

Clark asked cautiously.

"One year, absolutely within one year. No further funding will be necessary."

He Kui spoke with confidence. If he weren't worried about sounding boastful, he'd say, "Just give me the money."

"Hmm."

Hearing the one-year guarantee and seeing He Kui's confidence, Clark's eyes lit up.

"In that case, we recommend the Enhanced Plan."

"Enhanced Plan?"

"It's..."

Listening to Clark's explanation, He Kui understood.

This plan offered higher limits and lower interest rates, but the bank would oversee the project and claim a share of any patents generated.

Much like his current 3%, though they would take significantly more.

Signing this might mean ongoing bank influence over future operations.

He didn't have the time to argue with the bank, and he was already busy enough at the Design Bureau.

Having to answer to the bank on top of that would be too much.

"Sorry, I'll stick to the standard research loan."

Clark felt a tinge of regret. With fewer major research clients lately, closing this deal could have boosted his career.

Perhaps even a promotion to vice president or a project oversight role for He Kui's project.

The benefits were obvious.

But with He Kui's firm refusal, Clark didn't press further.

Instead, he introduced another plan and proceeded with calculating the loan amount, verifying documents, etc.

"Director He, your documents are all in order. The thirty million will be transferred within three days."

"Thank you, much appreciated."

Hearing this, He Kui flashed a warm smile.

This was remarkably fast. Given He Kui's status as a ZAFT hero, his credit was top-tier. Though the collateral wasn't exceptional, his detailed, well-organized plan, complete with risk assessment, and his past achievements secured the loan.

"Director He, since you're here, would you like to join me for a meal?"

Clark suggested enthusiastically.

"No, I need to get back to work."

"Haha, indeed, then I hope Director He continues to contribute to PLANT."

"Thank you."

They shook hands, sealing the deal.

After exchanging nods with the slightly more enthusiastic office ladies outside, He Kui left the branch.
