"The radar functions are all normal."
After spending over an hour checking the eight Deens, the task was finally complete.
"Great job! The latest air drop just arrived as well."
The officer in charge gestured for the two to look behind them, where three sky-blue Deens of varying shapes were being transported into the hangar by a transport vehicle.
"As soon as the checks are complete, we can launch."
He Kui and Sule's attention shifted to the three Deens, which had cockpits capable of accommodating three pilots, making them significantly bulkier than standard Deens.
"What about the pilots?"
"They're already on their way."
"Alright, thank you."
After sending off the hurried officer, Sule turned to the young man beside her.
"Are you ready?"
"Yeah, I think so."
This time was a bit different; due to a shortage of personnel for the tests and the interference from the neutron jammers, He Kui needed to select one of the Deens as a data collector, gathering data from all three units to send back to Sule at the base.
Without needing to ask, it was obvious which one He Kui chose—the one with the oversized rear skirt armor, the one he had designed.
"Don't worry; according to the calculations, the radar should allow us to retreat before the enemy detects us."
"Right."
Was he feeling anxious? Not very much, but he had no choice. He was only going for this one trip; after that, he planned to relax at home. Hopefully, he could persuade Shi He to stay in PLANT with him.
Still, seeing the massive robot he had a hand in designing come to life filled He Kui with immense pride.
Creating such a colossal machine—especially one with a single eye—was likely a dream come true for most men.
His excitement temporarily overshadowed any lingering unease.
"Well then, let's see how you prove those legs are useless," Sule teased with a playful wink. They had little time; once everything was prepared, they would set out to fulfill their role as an airborne warning unit.
"Don't worry," He Kui replied confidently.
Once the preparations were complete, the nine personnel, including He Kui, gathered at the site.
The pilots were not Red Robes but rather three elite Green Robes, indicating the design bureau's seriousness regarding this test.
"Mr. He Kui, hello."
As He Kui entered the cockpit, the lead pilot saluted him.
"Hello, thank you for your cooperation in this mission."
He Kui awkwardly returned the salute, then greeted the Green Robe girl assigned as the communications officer next to him.
"The legs on this unit aren't very agile; to prevent mishaps, we've implemented motion restrictions in the system. Please be cautious during operation."
He Kui reminded them from his seat.
"Understood. But with the power of the Deen, once we're airborne, we shouldn't need to use the legs, right?"
"That's what I think too!"
"Enough chatter; all units, begin self-check."
At Sule's command, the three units powered up simultaneously. The red single eye on the Deen's head lit up, and the display screen in front of He Kui showed the dull scenery of the hangar.
"Central mode generator: normal. Hydraulic system: normal. Multi-drive system: normal. Monitoring system: normal. Main system online. Auxiliary system activated. Test Unit One ready for launch."
"Test Unit Two ready for launch."
"Test Unit Three ready for launch."
"Remote monitoring system successfully online. Let's get going! Good luck to everyone," Sule commanded.
With the
orders given, the three units powered up and soared into the clear blue sky.
