Chapter 25: Foundations of an Empire

Quinn and Lisa were ready to return to New York after a few days spent at his parents' house. The visit had been refreshing, but Quinn's mind had wandered toward his future, thinking about his plans for expansion. The visit had solidified a few thoughts he had been nurturing in the back of his mind—plans far bigger than just his arms trade. While the arms industry had proven lucrative, he knew it was only one piece of a much larger puzzle. To build an unshakeable empire, Quinn needed control in other industries. His goal wasn't just to become rich; it was to create an unassailable legacy that would last for generations.

As his father drove them to the train station, Quinn leaned back in the passenger seat, staring out the window. His father, who had always preferred SUVs to sports cars, was thoroughly enjoying the Range Rover Quinn had gifted him. It had taken nearly four hours of convincing and the revelation of his bank balance—something that shocked not just his parents, but also Lisa. She had known Quinn was doing well from the online business he had told her about, but even she hadn't expected him to have over $150 million at his disposal. That level of wealth was a far cry from the humble man she thought she knew, but she seemed to be adjusting.

"Are you sure you want to take the train back? You could've driven yourself," his father asked, glancing at him from behind the wheel.

Quinn nodded. "Yeah, it's fine. I'll buy another car once I'm back in the city. The Range Rover's yours now."

His father smiled, the pride clear on his face. "Well, don't go buying something too flashy. Keep your feet on the ground."

Quinn chuckled. "I'll keep that in mind."

Once they arrived at the station, his father helped them with their bags, and after some farewells, Quinn and Lisa boarded the train back to New York. The rhythmic hum of the train soothed Lisa, who quickly dozed off, resting her head on Quinn's shoulder. But while she slept, Quinn's mind was buzzing with thoughts.

During the ride, Nexus pinged him with a new analysis, which Quinn had been eagerly awaiting.

Nexus: I've analyzed the global banking sector as requested. If you want to expand into the financial industry, opening a private bank will require at least $10 billion in starting capital.

Quinn's eyes narrowed in thought. Ten billion dollars was an enormous sum, but it wasn't out of reach for someone with his level of resources, especially given how quickly he could generate funds. The futures market alone could bring him closer to that figure within months.

Nexus: Strategically, a private bank is the best entry point for establishing influence. It provides access to international markets and allows control over investments, loans, and other financial instruments. Once we establish a presence, we can expand into various sectors—real estate, technology, pharmaceuticals—creating a diversified empire.

Quinn smirked. The idea of owning a private bank hadn't been his first thought when he began this journey, but now it seemed like the logical next step. Controlling the flow of money was the real key to power. Nations, businesses, individuals—everyone needed money. And if they needed Quinn's bank, they'd be under his control, whether they knew it or not.

"How fast can we raise the capital?" Quinn asked quietly, careful not to wake Lisa.

Nexus: We can accelerate our progress through additional market manipulations and strategic investments. With aggressive tactics, I estimate we can reach $10 billion in liquid assets within six to eight months.

Quinn leaned back, satisfied with the projection. "Start laying the groundwork. I want to be ready by the time we hit that target."

Nexus: Understood. I will set up shell corporations, create offshore accounts, and prepare the necessary documentation for the bank's launch. The process will be seamless.

Quinn stared out the window, watching the scenery fly by. The small towns and farmlands that passed were a stark contrast to the world of high finance and global trade that he was about to dive into. But that didn't bother him. The bigger the stakes, the more he thrived. And the stakes were about to get a lot higher.

---

By the time they returned to the bustling streets of New York, the plans were already set in motion. Nexus was busy establishing the network required to launch the bank, and Quinn's mind was already moving beyond that—thinking of the possibilities once he controlled a global financial institution.

After getting back to his apartment, Quinn felt the need to unwind. He'd been thinking about his next moves so intensely that he hadn't had a moment to relax. Lisa, sensing his mood, suggested they order some takeout and watch a movie, which he readily agreed to.

As they ate in the living room, Lisa glanced at him thoughtfully. "You've been really quiet since we left your parents' place. Something on your mind?"

Quinn smiled at her, though his thoughts were still distant. "Just thinking about the future."

Lisa smirked. "When are you not thinking about the future?"

He chuckled softly. "Fair point."

She didn't pry further, knowing Quinn well enough to understand that he liked to keep some of his plans to himself. But there was a comfort in her presence, in knowing that despite all the chaos swirling around him, she was a stable force in his life.

---

That night, after Lisa had gone to bed, Quinn sat in his office, staring at the city skyline through his window. New York had always represented opportunity to him, but now it was something more—a stage for the empire he was building.

With a private bank under his control, he'd not only have a seat at the table with the world's most powerful individuals, but he'd also be in a position to influence economies, investments, and global industries. He could fund governments, topple regimes, or prop up new ones, all from behind the scenes, using nothing but financial leverage.

He could almost feel the weight of the power he was about to seize. But for Quinn, power wasn't a burden. It was his goal.

As he leaned back in his chair, he allowed himself to think about the billions he would accumulate, the control he would exert over industries, and the reach of his influence. The empire was no longer a dream; it was becoming a reality, one calculated step at a time. With Nexus by his side and the robots handling day-to-day operations, Quinn was free to think on a larger scale, to plan moves that would shake the foundations of entire industries.

The financial world didn't know what was coming.
