Anko rushed out of the room, her clothing hastily adjusted but not entirely in order, giving her a slightly disheveled appearance. She brushed past several Genin in the hallway, her mind racing from the whirlwind of her encounter with Hyuk.
Just moments later, Kurenai stood nearby, she couldn't help but notice the look on Anko's face, a mix of excitement and fluster. But it was when Hyuk stepped out of the room, a confident grin on his face, that Kurenai's heart sank.
Her thoughts immediately flashed back to the lustful night she had shared with him—the way he had touched her, the connection they had felt. It was supposed to be something special, but seeing him emerge from that room just moments after Anko made her stomach twist with jealousy and shame.
Hyuk's eyes gleamed with mischief as he caught Kurenai's gaze. "Kurenai," he said smoothly, his voice rich with charm. "You look... lost in thought."
Her cheeks flushed, and she struggled to find her voice. "I was just—"
"Worried?" he interjected, stepping closer. The playful glint in his emerald eyes sent a shiver down her spine, reminding her of the heat they had shared.
"About you," she said, attempting to sound casual, but the tremor in her voice betrayed her true emotions. "You have a way of getting into... interesting situations."
He smirked, leaning against the wall with an air of casual confidence. "Interesting? Or exciting?" His grin was infectious, and despite her irritation, Kurenai felt a flutter in her chest.
Kurenai bit her lip, knowing she shouldn't feel this way. She had Asuma, someone she cared for deeply. Yet, the memory of Hyuk's touch, the way he made her feel alive, flooded her thoughts, and her heart raced with confusion. "Hyuk," she started, her voice barely above a whisper, "this... this isn't right."
He tilted his head, sensing her turmoil. "What do you mean?"
"I have Asuma," she replied, feeling heat rise to her cheeks. "I shouldn't be feeling this way about you. It's wrong." Her heart pounded in her chest as she tried to maintain her composure.
"Is it wrong to feel attracted to someone?" he challenged, taking a step closer, his intense gaze holding hers captive. "You can't help how you feel, Kurenai."
The intensity of his stare made her pulse quicken. "But I'm with Asuma," she insisted, her voice wavering. "I can't betray him like this."
Hyuk's expression softened slightly, but his gaze remained steady. "I wouldn't want to come between you and Asuma. But you can't deny there's something here."
Kurenai sighed, torn between her feelings and her loyalty. "You make it hard to forget," she admitted, feeling vulnerable. "And I know it's wrong, but I can't help remembering how... good you are."
Hyuk's lips curled into a knowing smile, a mix of charm and arrogance. "You think about that night often, don't you?"
She bit her lip again, caught in the moment. "I shouldn't," she said, trying to regain her composure. "But I do."
As he turned to leave, Hyuk glanced back at her, a teasing smile on his face. "Connections can be complicated," he said, his voice low and inviting. "Maybe we can explore this more... later."
Kurenai watched him walk away, her heart pounding. She felt both exhilarated and guilty, knowing that her feelings for Hyuk were dangerous, especially with Asuma in the picture. But the spark between them was undeniable, and as she stood there, she couldn't shake the feeling that their paths would cross again in ways that would challenge her resolve.
