Chapter 61 - Chapter 62: Brutality

The battlefield lay in eerie silence, the air thick with an unsettling tension. Kakashi's gaze shifted from the remnants of the ice coffin to Hyuk, who stood unwavering, his expression a mask of determination tinged with something darker. Is this really the path he's choosing? Kakashi thought, a deep concern furrowing his brow.

Sakura, her heart racing, felt a chill creep down her spine. This isn't the same Hyuk I thought I knew, she mused, memories of their time together flooding her mind. He's becoming more brutal… just like his power. Cold and unforgiving.

The others shared the same sentiment. The fight had unveiled a side of Hyuk that was familiar yet unsettling. His icy demeanor and the ruthless efficiency with which he had dealt with Haku left everyone in a state of shock. Hyuk had never been gentle, but he had seemed to warm up to them; now, that warmth appeared to be melting away into the coldness of his ice.

Meanwhile, hidden away, Gato had witnessed the entire confrontation. Fear gripped him as he watched the brutal display of power unfold. His mind raced with frantic calculations. I can't let this go on any longer. I need to escape!

Just as he turned to flee, Hyuk's sharp eyes locked onto Gato. Without a moment's hesitation, he gathered chakra, channeling both wind and ice. "You're not getting away!" he shouted, launching a swift Ice Bullet imbued with wind chakra.

The projectile zipped through the air with lethal precision, striking Gato point-blank in the back of his head. The force of the blast sent him sprawling to the ground, his body lifeless and cold.

Gasps echoed around the battlefield as the reality of what Hyuk had just done sank in. Kakashi, Sakura, and the others stood frozen, horror etched across their faces.

"He… he just killed him!" Sakura gasped, her hands trembling.

Kakashi remained quiet, the weight of Hyuk's actions heavy in the air.

Naruto clenched his fists, a mix of admiration and fear swirling within him. "Hyuk… why?" he whispered, struggling to comprehend how his friend could make such a drastic decision.

Sasuke, however, watched intently, taking note of the brutality. In this world, to be strong, one must be cold, he thought, feeling a strange sense of understanding toward Hyuk's actions. The survival of the fittest mentality resonated with him, and he felt a twinge of admiration for the ruthlessness on display.

Amidst the stunned silence, Sasuke stepped closer to Hyuk. "You didn't hesitate," he remarked, a hint of respect in his voice. "That's how you survive in this kill-or-be-killed world." He shot a glance at Hyuk, gauging his reaction, but found none.

Hyuk stood among the aftermath, his breath steady, yet a storm raged within him. He had acted on instinct, the icy power coursing through him compelling him to eliminate threats without hesitation.

The world around him felt colder, not just from the ice but from shadows creeping into his heart. He had killed, and while he felt no regret, he couldn't shake the gnawing doubt about who he was becoming.

As the battle now drew to a close, the team gathered together, the weight of what had happened hanging heavily between them. Hyuk remained silent, his gaze fixed on the ground, grappling with the intensity of his emotions.
