Chapter 17 - Chapter 17: The Fall of Team 8

The atmosphere in the abandoned structure charged with tension. Kurenai faced Shijen, the rogue Jonin whose twisted grin sent chills down her spine. Behind her, her team readied themselves for the fight of their lives.

"Let her go!" Kurenai demanded, her voice steady despite the chaos around her.

Shijen chuckled, his eyes glinting with malice. "Why would I do that? She's the perfect bait. And you're all just the perfect little toys I get to play with before I finish my work here."

With a sudden, fluid motion, Shijen moved forward, slicing the rope that bound the captive. The woman fell to the ground, lifeless, her eyes staring blankly into the void.

"No!" Kurenai screamed, anger surging through her. "You monster!"

"Now now, don't get upset." he taunted, lunging at Kurenai with a flurry of strikes. "You'll make this so much more enjoyable for me!"

Kurenai dodged, the sounds of battle filling the air as Kiba charged in, his canine companion, Akamaru, by his side. "Get ready, everyone! We can't let him get away with this!"

With a swift leap, Kiba activated his Beast Mimicry Technique, transforming into a powerful, wolf-like version of himself. He lunged at Shijen, claws outstretched, but the rougue ninja sidestepped with ease, spinning to counter.

"Pathetic!" Shijen sneered, delivering a swift kick that sent Kiba sprawling backward.

"Hinata, now!" Kurenai called out, her voice sharp. Hinata stepped forward, activating her byakugan, and focused on Shijen's chakra points.

"Eight Trigrams, Sixty-Four Palms!" she shouted, striking with precision. The attacks landed on Shijen's arms, causing him to stagger slightly.

"Nice try, but you'll have to do better than that!" Shijen retaliated, a sinister grin to his face. He unleashed a wave of dark chakra, the air crackling with malice.

Shino moved in next, summoning his insects to swarm around Shijen. "Insects, swarm!" he commanded, directing them to immobilize the rogue ninja. The insects quickly enveloped Shijen, crawling over him in a black wave.

"Get off me!" he roared, swinging his arms wildly, but Shino held firm, the bugs adhering to their target.

Kurenai seized the moment, weaving through the chaos, "Let's finish this! Genjutsu: Nightmare!"

Shijen's eyes widened as he fell into Kurenai's illusion, momentarily trapped in a world of his worst fears. She took the opportunity to strike with a swift series of kicks and punches.

But Shijen was stronger than they anticipated. With a burst of chakra, he broke free from the genjutsu, his face contorted in rage. "You think you can defeat me? I've slain countless of shinobi!"

As the fight raged on, Hyuk made his way through the village after his training, his mind racing. He needed to see Reina considering what was happening in the village. He needed to ensure she was safe. Arriving at her tea house, he was met with devastation. The once vibrant building was now a smoldering ruin, the sign of swinging pitifully in the breeze.

"Reina!" he called, panic rising in his chest. He searched frantically through the rubble, but the scene was grim. There was signs of struggle, remnants of broken teacups and torn fabric scattered everywhere.

"Please.... No!" Hyuk's heart pounded as the worst possibility hit him. He turned, sprinting through the streets the streets of Konoha, desperately seeking Kakashi. "Kakashi! It's urgent!"

As he ran, his mind is spiraled into darkness. What if Shijen had taken her? What if she was in danger? The thought consumed him, hardening his heart once again. He felt the coldness creep back into his veins, shrouding him like a thick fog.

When he finally found Kakashi, the jounin was discussing the rogue ninja with a group of shinobi. "Hyuk!" Kakashi called out, sensing the urgency in the boy's demeanor. "What's wrong?"

"It's Reina! Her tea house-it's destroyed!" Hyuk shouted, breathless. "I think Shijen might have taken her!"

Kakashi's expression turned serious. "We need to inform the others immediately. Team 8 is already engaged with Shijen. We can't waste any time."

"Let's go!" Hyuk replied, his voiced laced with determination. He felt the fire of urgency burning within him, igniting a desire to protect Reina at all costs. Without waiting for a response, he charged forward, leading Kakashi and Team 7 though the streets.

Meanwhile, Team 8 struggled against Shijen. Kurenai was on the defensive, her energy waning. Shino had sent out his insects again, but Shijen swatted them away effortlessly, his speed unmatched.

"Is this all you have?" Shijen taunted, leaping high into the air. "You'll need more than this to stop me!"

Kiba, still in his beast form, leaped after him. "We're just getting started! *Fang Over Fang!*" He spiraled upward, aiming to bring Shijen down.

But Shijen countered with a powerful punch, sending Kiba crashing to the ground. "You're nothing but insects to me!"

Hinata tried to get close enough to use her Byakugan to predict his movements, but Shijen was too quick. He darted towards her, aiming to deliver a decisive blow. "You're next!"

"No!" Kurenai shouted, stepping in front of Hinata just in time, ready to protect her team at all costs.

But before she could act, Shijen delivered a swift kick that knocked Kurenai to the ground.

"Now you're all mine!" He roared, eyes gleaming with malice.

In the chaos, he seized Hinata, wrapping an arm around her waist before she could react. "You look so.... tasty."

he sneered, his grip tightening as he prepared to escape.

"Let her go!" Kiba yelled, but it was too late. With a dark swirl of chakra, Shijen vanished, leaving behind the defeated Team 8.

As Hyuk and Team 7 arrived at the scene, they were met with a grim sight. Kurenai lay unconscious, Kiba was barely stirring, and Shino was pinned under the wreckage of debris.

"What happened?" Hyuk demanded, his eyes darting around.

"We couldn't stopped him," Kiba gasped, struggling to catch his breath. "Hinata... he took her!"

Hyuk's mind gone blank as the realization hit him. Reina, now Hinata... Darkness clawed at his insides. He felt the coldness return, solidifying around him like iron chains.

"Shijen must have a hideout nearby," Kakashi said, his tone grim. "We need to regroup and plan our next move, we can't let him hurt anyone else."

With Hyuk's determination renewed, he nodded sharply. "Let's find them. I won't let him take anyone else."
