Chapter 101 - The Treasures of the Glacial Wolf (Part 1).

The journey back to Violet Castle began under a sky painted with hues of lavender and gold, the sun casting long shadows over the ancient forest. Our expedition moved steadily, the air filled with a sense of accomplishment and anticipation. The Glacial Wolf Demon had been defeated, and with its demise came a trove of rare materials that could change the fate of our duchy.

As we departed the frozen lake where the battle had taken place, I couldn't help but reflect on the unexpected discoveries we had made. Among the most intriguing was a stone found deep within the beast's brain—a luminescent blue gem the size of a dove's egg. It pulsed with a dangerous, icy energy that made the air around it crisp and cold. Holding it felt like grasping the heart of winter itself.

"Careful with that," Morrison cautioned as I examined the stone, its surface smooth yet emanating raw power. "Who knows what kind of magic it contains."

"Exactly why we need to study it," I replied, carefully wrapping the gem in a layer of enchanted cloth to contain its aura. "This could be a key to unlocking new forms of energy manipulation."

March leaned over my shoulder, his eyes wide with fascination. "Imagine the weapons we could forge with such a source."

"Or the catastrophes we could unleash," Mancil added prudently. "We must approach this with caution."

I nodded, appreciating their perspectives. "Agreed. We'll secure it for now and investigate further once we're back at the castle."

The extraction of the Glacial Wolf's blood had yielded more than I had anticipated. Its vitality was immense, the blood shimmering with an ethereal glow that hinted at the raw power contained within. As we carefully collected it into specially prepared crystal vials, I realized there was enough for not just one, but two individuals.

"Tomas," I said, turning to my steadfast right hand, "it seems fortune favors us. You will undergo the bloodline infusion as planned."

He bowed his head, a mixture of gratitude and determination in his eyes. "I am ready to serve in any way I can, Lord Raimon."

My grandfather, Alaric, approached with Sir Leon at his side. The veteran knight stood tall despite the weariness of the journey, his eyes sharp and posture unwavering. A man who had given his life to our family's service, he had reached the pinnacle of what could be achieved without a bloodline.

"Grandfather, we have more than enough blood for Tomas," I began, "and I propose we use the remainder for Sir Leon. His years of service and unmatched skill make him a worthy candidate."

Sir Leon's eyes widened slightly, a rare display of surprise. "My Lord, I am honored by the consideration."

Alaric placed a firm hand on Sir Leon's shoulder. "You have been my shield and sword for decades, old friend. It's time we ensure you have the strength to continue protecting what we hold dear."

A silent understanding passed between them—a bond forged through countless battles and unspoken loyalty.

"Very well," I said. "Upon our return, we will begin the preparations for both infusions. This will not only strengthen our family's security but also pave the way for new possibilities."

As we made our way through the dense forest, the terrain began to change subtly. The towering trees parted to reveal a landscape scarred by time—ruins of fortresses long abandoned, their stone walls crumbling yet still echoing the grandeur of a bygone era.

One afternoon, while scouting ahead with my grandfather, we stumbled upon an open pit that caught our attention. The ground around it was dark and rich, veins of a peculiar black metal glinting in the sunlight.

"This is... black iron," Alaric observed, his eyes narrowing as he surveyed the site. "And an abundant deposit at that."

I knelt down, running my fingers over the coarse surface of an exposed vein. The metal was cool to the touch, with a certain heaviness that spoke to its density and strength. "This could be invaluable for forging weapons and armor," I mused. "Our knights would benefit greatly from equipment made of such material."

Alaric nodded thoughtfully. "Indeed. Black iron is rare and highly sought after. Securing this mine would bolster our duchy's resources significantly."

"We should send a team to assess the site and establish operations," I suggested. "But we must keep this discovery confidential for now. News of such a find could attract unwanted attention."

"Agreed," he replied. "We'll handle it discreetly."

The days turned into weeks as we continued our journey home, the landscape gradually shifting from the wild, untamed forest to the more familiar territories of our duchy. The knights remained vigilant, but the atmosphere was lighter, buoyed by the success of our mission and the prospects that awaited us.

One evening, as the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm glow over the encampment, I sat with Tomas by the fire. The flickering flames reflected in his eyes, which held a mix of contemplation and quiet excitement.

"How do you feel about the upcoming infusion?" I asked.

He took a moment before responding. "Honored, my Lord. And determined. This is an opportunity I never imagined possible."

"You've earned it, Tomas," I assured him. "Your dedication and loyalty have been unwavering. This will elevate you to new heights, but remember, with greater power comes greater responsibility."

He met my gaze firmly. "I understand. I will strive to be worthy of this gift."
