Chapter 16 - The Final Strike

Suddenly, a black line began to form on his right hand, glowing faintly against the darkness. The strip pulsed with an unfamiliar energy, growing brighter as Null clenched his fist, defying the agony that tore through him. His breath came in uneven gasps, but the pain in his body became secondary to the strange sensation of power rising within him.

The unbearable pain, the scars in his body slowly recovering making him in better condition. Null standing In front of his image and in a loud voice filled with anger he said, "What do you even know about me?", He withdrew his left arm which was resting on the rock, standing still and staring at the eyes of his image. Null's blue eyes glowing in the darkness-like it was swallowing the darkness around it. His right arm glowing with an unfamiliar energy, even in the darkness the black strips around his hand could be easily seen.

Null stood there, his body trembling from exhaustion, but his gaze unwavering. His chest rose and fell with ragged breath, his limbs heavy with pain, yet something deep inside him rooted to the ground. His legs tremble from pain and exhaustion yet he is somehow still standing on the ground, but his body a little titled, he takes his step slowly, the steps sound echoed through all the darkness, his blue eyes and hand filled with an unfamiliar eerie energy making him no less figure than a monster.

Null takes another step closing the distance between him and his image and murmuring in a silent yet loud voice, "Running away from Reality? Fear of being alone?" Null takes another step, "The day I was left in the door of the orphanage like an unwanted child, I had accepted my reality. The fear of being alone and Empty, you say? This emptiness you talk about was with me since the day I was born and nor did I hope for anything in my life to be feared."

With each painstaking step forward, Null felt the weight of despair in his steps and had nearly covered the distance between him and his image, Null replies, "This emptiness, which I once perceived as a curse weighing heavily on my soul, was redefined when someone whispered words of hope into my ear, telling me I was special. Those simple words ignited a flicker of possibility within me, and for the first time, I dared to envision a life beyond this selfish world. I began to hope that change was not just a distant dream but a reality waiting for me to grasp." Null clenched his fist as hard as possible applying every bit of his remaining strength in his fist and punched in the face of his image. Null's speed exceeded the limits of a human. The image didn't even have the time for reacting, but his strength was not enough, the image didn't even clinch from its position.

With every labored breadth, Null felt the weight of exhaustion pressing down on him like an anchor. He lowered his trembling hand, the remnants of his strength flickering away. That punch had drained him completely, a desperate strike fueled by a mix of rage and despair, and now he was left teetering on the edge of consciousness, barely able to keep himself upright.

This was the first time Null had ever raised his hand against anyone, and the thought-he had struck the very reflection of himself. The image before him stood unfazed, its features twisted into a mocking and taunting smirk, embodying everything Null despised.

Suddenly, Null's image lunged forward, moving with an unnatural speed. Before Null could react, it seized him by the throat, fingers tightening like a vice. Panic surged through him as he was lifted off the ground, his feet dangling helplessly. With a swift motion, it drew its fist and slammed it into Null's stomach. The impact was like a hammer striking glass, shattering whatever resolve Null had left. Pain erupted through him, a blinding agony that tore through his abdomen, leaving him gasping for air.

A gaping hole opened in his abdomen, blood spilling forth, painting the ground in red. He felt his strength drain away, the world around him fading to a blur as he teetered on the brink of death. Null crumpled to the ground, vision darkening at the edges. He squinted his eyes to see the face of his image, but the only thing he saw was the darkness. He lay there, on the brink of death, feeling every heartbeat as if it were a countdown to his end.

The image gazed down at Null's body looking at his body for a few moments, then it turned back itself lost in its own thought then suddenly, it felt a cold that shivered through its spine making its body numb for a moment. Null's image was sweating all over his body. It slowly turns back its body to see, and what it saw was inexplicably. Null was standing on his feet, the hole in his abdomen was regenerating. And the amount of Blood Lust it was exerting was unfathomable-like it was draining the life force.

Null was unconscious while his body was moving on its own. Then, the black line strips began to emerge, snaking across Null's skin from every part of his body, until his entire form was cloaked in a derp, dark energy. His unconscious body pulsed with raw power, the energy radiating around him even the darkness couldn't escape from it. In a surge of violent force, the image was hurled in the sky, couldn't even get the time to react.

Null caught it in the mid air, gripping its body tightly with one hand. With his other hand, charged with the same black dark energy, without hesitating and not wasting any moment, he swiftly sliced through the neck of the image, severing its head from the body. The lifeless remains of his mirror image fell away, disintegrating into nothingness as it vanished into the air.

Null still hovered there, high above from the ground, suspended in the darkened sky. The  black strips that had covered his body slowly receded, fading from his skin until only two lines remained in his right hand, faintly glowing.

Exhaustion finally overtook him and Null's body began to fall from the sky. His eyes hardly opened looking at the sky, for the first time in his life, a strange sense of satisfaction washed over him. He slowly closed his eyes. Suddenly, he heard a faint sound.

"You have completed your Mission!"
