Chapter 1 - _Chapter 1: Unfulfilled Dreams_

Alec Bloodthorn trudged through the city streets, his eyes cast downward. Another monotonous day, another dull routine. The gray skyscrapers seemed to close in around him, suffocating his aspirations.

He worked as an accountant in a small firm, crunching numbers for hours on end. The excitement had worn off years ago. Alec's passion lay elsewhere – in the world of anime and manga.

As he walked, Alec's mind wandered to his favorite series, "Eternal Heroes." He envied the main character, Kaito, who possessed incredible strength and fought against evil.

"Why can't I be like Kaito?" Alec thought. "Living a life of purpose, not this dull existence."

He passed by a billboard advertising the latest blockbuster movie. Alec scoffed, remembering the disappointing experience of watching Hollywood's attempt at adapting his beloved anime.

The difference between reality and fiction struck Alec. In the world of "Eternal Heroes," courage and determination mattered. In his world, it was all about profit margins and tax returns.

Alec returned to his small apartment, flopping onto the couch. He booted up his laptop and continued watching "Eternal Heroes." The vibrant colors and epic battles transported him to a world where heroes existed.

As Kaito battled dark forces on screen, Alec felt a pang of longing. "That's the life I want."

His phone buzzed, breaking the spell. A text from his best friend, Alex.

"Hey, Alec. Want to grab dinner tonight?"

Alec hesitated, unsure if he wanted to face the world.

"Maybe," he replied. "I'm not really up for it."

Alex understood. "No worries, man. Maybe next time."

Alec shut his laptop, the silence enveloping him. His gaze drifted to a poster on the wall – Kaito standing victorious, with the tagline "Courage in the Face of Adversity."

Alec sighed. "One day."

The room grew darker as evening fell. Alec stood, stretching his weary body. He decided to take a walk, clearing his mind.

As he stepped out of his apartment building, Alec felt a sense of freedom. The evening air carried the smells of street food and exhaust fumes.

Lost in thought, Alec crossed the street, oblivious to the oncoming traffic. A blaring horn snapped him back to reality.

Too late.

Alec saw the truck bearing down on him, its headlights illuminating his final moment.

Time slowed.

Alec thought of his family, his friends, and the life he'd never live.

The impact was instantaneous.

Everything went black.
