Lord Greyson and the chauffeur went on the specific details of their trip to the palace, and the three wisps made careful notes of every information they were spying on. Making sure they don't miss anything for their trip to the palace.
Aiden looked up at the three wisps while rubbing his numbing legs, all of them exhibited a bright yellow glow, one thing he knew was of excitement. He was left wondering why the sudden shift of their emotions. There were demons mentioned earlier, and now they were beaming bright, his stomach grumbled from an awful feeling, an awful premonition, as if he'd known the three wisps would forsake him again.
"What was that sound?" Lord Greyson jolted, his eyes darting toward the direction Aiden was crouched in.
The chauffeur held a hand out to the lord of the mansion, his steps light and slow as he approached the couch to check. The closer he got, the more Aiden crouched into a small ball.
He was about to get caught, he thought to himself. It was time for him to get slapped.
But to his surprise, the chauffeur tucked the curtains together. "The windows weren't locked properly, Milord," he said, taking a quick glance at Aiden who looked up to him with a confused expression. "It was the sound of wind."
Aiden was about to stand up, thinking he was caught, but the wisps told him otherwise. "No! Don't move!" Caelum said.
"This chauffer," Lucius said. "He's helping you."
Those floor to ceiling windows were tightly shut, and they knew this chauffer saved him on purpose.
After dismissing the 'wind' issue, the chauffer went back to the lord's table. Before Lord Greyson could even discuss what seemed like another issue, the chauffer reminded him he had something else to do, obviously aware of Aiden's presence.
"Alright," Lord Greyson said. "Let's welcome the madame on her return."
When the door closed, Aiden immediately bolted up, giving himself a full stretch. "Ouch," he rubbed his legs and arms. "Every inch of me cramped in that position."
The three wisps hovered around him. Aiden's eyebrows furrowed from the uncanny glow they exhibited. A nagging sensation on his skin told him they were smiling, but not to his favor.
"What?" he asked them, and they all bobbed themselves.
"Nothing," Riven said. "We're just excited to find out what's on the other side of the door."
Aiden slowly nodded his head, still suspicious, but he decided to let things go. All of them went back to their initial positions, with the two wisps assisting him on his search and Lucius standing guard outside. Upon returning to the spot where he paused, his hands reached for the peculiar book he'd noticed earlier. He expected it to be stuck, requiring a twist like a lever, but to his surprise, it came free like an ordinary book. He nearly lost his balance on the stool as he pulled it from the shelf.
"What's that?" Riven asked him before hovering closer to the book. "A journal?"
Lucius also hovered closer. "What are you two doing? Don't get distracted we have things to do!"
Aiden tossed the journal back to its place, about to go off the shelf to search his fathers table, but he heard a clicking sound. The three of them stopped.
After a few seconds, a rumbling sound filled the air, and the room shook lightly, as if two huge boulders were being dragged across the floor. Then the shelf split in two, revealing a dark passage that led downstairs.
The three of them exchanged glances.
"There really is a hidden room," Aiden said, and the two wisps nodded. "I'm going in."
He stepped forward, his eyes missing an almost invisible barrier. Upon contact, he was flung across the room, crashing into the wooden tea table and breaking one of its legs, sending tea cups tumbling to the floor. The force of his impact shoved the couch he had hidden behind out of position, its cushions bearing the weight of his fall.
"Ouch!" Aiden mumbled while rubbing his head, his father's study spinning in circles from his flight. "What was that?"
Riven went to check on him. "Aiden!" he hovered closer, "Are you alright?"
Thankfully, he didn't seem to have broken any bone, only scratches and a few bruises from the impact. Aiden shook his head, "I'm alright."
"What happened?" Caelum flew toward their direction, his light flickered upon seeing the destruction they caused. "Woah! You're about to get slapped real good, fella." He said. "There's no point for me to stand guard now."
As Aiden surveyed the mess he had created, he realized how much sense Caelum's words had made. What had once been a neat setting now resembled the aftermath of a struggle.
The wisps mumbled on various stuff, all of them wondering how to break into the barrier. But Aiden had a different issue at hand. He slowly faced the three wisps, his hands trembling, "Do you perhaps... know any restoration spells?" he asked them, earning a few confused glances from the wisps. "That sensation, it's in my hands. I think I absorbed some of that barrier's energy."
The three wisps beamed a bright light, so bright they almost turned into flames. They hovered toward Aiden. "Really?" Caelum said. "Then keep on bumping into that barrier!"
"Right! And once you've absorbed everything," Lucius said. "We can all enter that suspicious chamber. Two birds with one stone!"
Riven remained silent, and Aiden awaited his statement toward their suggestions. "Should I do that?"
"Come on!" Caelum complained. "Do you only listen to Riven?"
Aiden nodded. "Took you too long to notice."
"Urgh!"
They all waited for Riven's decision. "Once you absorb that barrier, it's gone," he contemplated. "Your father will surely know someone had broken into his study."
"And that's not a problem," Caelum said. "He needs to get slapped, remember?"
Riven bobbed himself. "Makes sense," he flew toward the barrier. "Give it a go, Aiden."
Aiden sighed before taking a step closer toward the barrier. With his feet pinned to the ground, he extended a hand toward the barrier. This time, he did not get thrown off to the other side of the room, but an agonizing wave of sensation crashed over him, as if a thousand needles were driving into his skin. He yelped, the sound torn from his throat, as he felt a violent surge of energy siphoning into his body, overwhelming him.
"Ah!" he screamed, his gray eyes flickering with a golden glow, his vision fading slowly. He didn't know if it was a mere hallucination, but before he passed out, he saw three glorious figures standing before him.
Two men, godly and majestic, and a woman, breathtakingly beautiful, radiating the ethereal charm of a goddess.
