Chapter 19 - Heartache

Sebastian rushed over to Noah's house, a whirlwind of emotions swirling inside him. Once inside, he couldn't hold back any longer and spilt the entire story, eager to share every thrilling and shocking detail of what had just unfolded.

Noah: ( sigh ) I don't know what to say. Do you think Kim will do it

Sebastian: She won't dare

Noah: You have to fix this, you had a fiance and making moves on her. At first, I thought she was a material girl but I realized she wasn't and I tried to warn you. You better fix this

Sebastian nods, his eyes fixed on the floor as he considers Noah's words.

Sebastian: I know I made a mistake, but I can't let Kim harm Sofia. I won't let her win.

Noah leans forward, his gaze piercing into Sebastian.

Noah: You need to find Sofia, Sebastian. You need to explain everything to her, tell her about Kim's threat. If you can make her see that you love her, she might forgive you.

Sebastian runs a hand through his hair, his mind a tangled mess of emotions.

With a deep breath, Sebastian stands, his resolve clear in his mind.

Sebastian: You're right. I need to find her, I need to make her understand. Thank you for your help, Noah.

Noah rises as well, his hand resting on Sebastian's shoulder.

Noah: I'm always here for you, brother. But remember, this isn't just about winning Sofia back. It's about doing what's right and protecting the woman you love.

Sebastian gives Noah a grateful smile, his eyes filled with determination.

Sebastian: I know, (he says, his voice low and serious )

In her apartment, Sofia stares at her phone, her heart aching with the weight of her emotions. Finally, she mustered up the courage to dial Damon's number.

Sofia: I'm sorry, Damon, ) her voice thick with emotion ). You were right about Sebastian. I should have listened to you. I'm so sorry.

Sofia's eyes fill with tears, and she takes a deep breath, struggling to control her emotions.

Sofia: I feel so stupid. I thought I knew him, I thought he loved me ( she says, her voice breaking ). I don't know where to start I should have listed it, I was blinded by the charms. I know our friendship won't be the same again, but I just wanted to hear your voice one last time.

Damon: Sofia, don't blame yourself for what Sebastian did. You trusted him, you loved him, and he betrayed that trust. That's not your fault. You are a strong woman and you will pass this, take care of yourself…..Goodbye Sofia

He ends the calls

The click of the line going dead echoes in Sofia's ears, a stark reminder of the finality of her situation. She sits in silence, her tears falling freely as she contemplates the future that stretches out before her. A message pops up…. "Your cab is outside". She went outside and took one last look at the apartment, her mind filling with memories of happier times. But now, it feels more like a prison than a home, a place of hurt and betrayal.

With a heavy heart, she steps out of the apartment and into the night air, a sense of finality washing over her as she closes the door behind her. As she approaches the waiting cab, she pauses, her hand resting on the door handle as she takes a deep breath.

Driver: Where are we going tonight?

The driver asks, his voice friendly and curious.

Sofia: The International Airport, please

The driver nods, his expression nonchalant as he pulls away from the curb and into the quiet night. Sofia sits in silence, her thoughts still swirling as she watches the city lights blur past her window.

As they approach the airport, a sense of determination fills her. She will not let Sebastian's betrayal define her. She will start over, far away from the pain and heartache that has become her life.

The cab pulls up to the terminal, and Sofia steps out, her suitcase in hand.

She approached the ticketing counter, her steps were sure and determined.

Sofia: One ticket, please ( she says, her voice strong and steady ).

Clerk: Destination?

The clerk asks, her tone bored and routine.

Sofia hesitates for a moment, her mind filling with possibilities. And then, without a trace of doubt or hesitation, she speaks.

Sofia: Italy

The clerk prints out the ticket and hands it to her, along with her passport.

Clerk: Have a good flight

She says, already turning her attention to the next customer.

As Sofia makes her way through the airport, her suitcase rolling behind her, she feels a sense of relief washes over her. She saw a trash can close, and dump her phone before moving ahead. She has made her decision, and it is one that she knows will change the course of her life.

As she settles into her seat on the plane, her mind drifts back to the past, to the moments with Sebastian that had once filled her with happiness and love. But those memories are now tainted with betrayal and deception, and she knows that she must move forward, to a place where she can heal and find peace.

As the plane takes off, the familiar sensation of ascent brings a sense of excitement and possibility, Sofia finds herself looking out the window, her thoughts a blur of emotions.

The sky is dark and starry, a tapestry of beauty and wonder that fills her with a sense of awe. And as the plane levels out, the lights of the city fading into the distance, she feels a weight lifting from her shoulders.

She closes her eyes and allows herself to sink into the quiet, her mind and heart finally finding the peace that they so desperately needed.

Sebastian's heart sinks as he approaches Sofia's apartment. He feels as if all the air has been sucked out of his lungs, leaving him breathless and numb.

He steps closer, the sign seeming to taunt him with its stark black and white letters. This can't be happening. Sofia can't be gone. He has to find her, he has to explain, he has to make things right.

He pulls out his phone, dialling her number with shaking hands.

The phone rings and rings, the sharp, hollow tones echoing in Sebastian's ears like a death knell. He lowers the phone from his ear, the screen glaring back at him with a single word: "Unreachable."

Sebastian's heart thumps in his chest, his mind racing as he tries to comprehend what this means. Did Sofia change her number? Did she turn her phone off? Or has she already left, taking herself as far away from him as possible?

Sebastian stands in silence for what feels like an eternity, the gravity of the situation pressing down on him with crushing force. With a shaky hand, he reaches out and touches the "For Sale" sign, as if somehow he might be able to unravel the truth by the contact.

But there is nothing to be gained from the sign, and he knows it. He turns away from the apartment, his mind spinning as he tries to make sense of what he has lost.

As he walks away, his footsteps echoing on the sidewalk, he knows that this is the end of something.

Sebastian's phone is a welcome distraction from the chaos that has taken hold of his mind. He dials the number of his assistant, her voice crackling to life through the receiver.

Wilson: Good morning, Mr. Walter.

Sebastian: I need you to send me Damon's address

Wilson: Of course, Mr. Sebastian. I'll text it to you now

With the address in hand, Sebastian makes his way to Damon's apartment. He arrives at the door, his hand raised to knock, but hesitates for a moment, unsure of what to say.

Finally, he knocks, the sound echoing in the hallway. He waits, his heart thudding in his chest, as the seconds tick by.

And then, the door opens, and Damon stands before him, his expression angry

Damon: Sebastian, ( he says, his tone icy). What are you doing here?

Damon punched in the face so hard, that Sebastian's lips bleed

Sebastian staggers backwards, his hand flying to his mouth in shock as he tastes the metallic tang of blood. He stares at Damon, his eyes wide with disbelief as he tries to make sense of what just happened.

Sebastian: What the hell is wrong with you?

He spits, the words coming out thick and garbled as his swollen lip protests the effort.

Damon: You tell me ( he growls, his fists clenched at his sides, his muscles tensed for another blow ). What the hell is wrong with you, sleeping with sofia while you had a fiancé? Sofia deserved better than that, she deserved someone who would have loved her and respected her, not someone who would throw her aside like yesterday's trash.

Sebastian stands his ground, his anger rising to meet Damon's.

Sebastian: I made a mistake ( he says, his voice low and dangerous ). But that doesn't give you the right to hit me.

Damon's jaw clenches, his eyes flashing with a fury that seems to border on the uncontrollable.

Damon: So, when it comes down to it, who will you choose, Sofia or your fiancé? And what does that mean for your child's future?

Sebastian: What child

Damon: I guess she did not tell you

Sebastian: Tell me where sofia is!

Damon: If Sofia wanted you to know, she would have told you herself.

Sebastian feels his heart pounding in his chest as he realizes the enormity of the situation.

Sebastian: Damon ( he says, his voice low and dangerous )

Damon: Leave now

He said as he closed the door

Sebastian stands on the doorstep, his mind reeling with the weight of Damon's words. He reaches out, his hand resting on the door as if he can somehow will it to open again, to give him the answers he so desperately needs.

Sebastian: Sofia is pregnant ( he whispers to himself, his mind racing as he considers what this means).

Sebastian returns home, his mind still reeling from the events of the day. As he steps through the door, he finds Kim sitting on the couch, her hands resting on her stomach as she watches the TV.

Sebastian: What did you do to Sofia?

He asks, his voice low and dangerous as he approaches Kim.

Kim turns to look at him, her expression a perfect mask of innocence.

Kim: What are you talking about? ( she asks, her voice saccharine sweet ).

Sebastian: Don't play dumb with me, Kim,

Sebastian snaps, his eyes narrowed.

Kim: I guess she was wise to leave on her own

Kim's words are like a punch to the gut, and Sebastian struggles to keep his anger in check.

Kim gives Sebastian a chilling smile, her words dripping with venom.

Kim: Yes, very thoughtful of her. She saved me the trouble of having to deal with her myself.

Sebastian feels his blood run cold at Kim's words, her callousness a sharp contrast to Sofia's kindness and warmth.

Sebastian: You're a monster, ( he whispers, his voice shaking with rage ).

Kim: Perhaps, ( her eyes flashing with a dangerous gleam ). But I'm your monster, Sebastian.

Sebastian's anger flares like wildfire, his words hot and burning as he glares at Kim.

Sebastian: You manipulative, cold-hearted bitch, ( he spits, his fists trembling at his sides ). You ruined my life for your selfish gain? I was a fool to ever trust you, to ever believe in your lies.

Kim's expression hardens, her lips pulling into a thin line.

Kim: Be careful, Sebastian ( she warns, her voice dangerous and low ). You don't want to cross me.

Sebastian: You think I'm afraid of you or your family? ( Sebastian said with a sharp laugh ). Go ahead, Kim—try me. I dare you.

Kim's face twists into a snarl, her hands balling into fists.

Kim: You're a fool, Sebastian, ( she snaps ). I hate you

Sebastian's words echo in the empty room, his anger and determination ringing in his ears.

Sebastian: I want you out of my house before I come back ( his voice is hard and unyielding ).

With one last glance around the room, he turns and leaves, determined to find Sofia and make things right.

As he steps out into the night, the air feels colder and heavier, as if the world is bearing down on him. But he pushes onward, his mind filled with thoughts of Sofia, his heart beating with a renewed sense of purpose.
