Chapter 67 - Chapter 66

"Hokage-sama said we don't need to do D-level missions anymore and gave us a C-level mission."

Yuta snorted at the excitement in their words. It was best for him to sit in the village without doing any missions.

"C-level missions are even worse than D-level missions. Because before I only had to waste a few hours a day to do a mission, it will take many days to do a mission. And you're guys happy about that? You're going to spend days traveling in an uncomfortable environment, even in muddy and rainy weather, just to make some rich guy whose name you don't even know feel good."

After hearing Yuta's words, the joy in the eyes of the two boys half vanished, but Hoshi mun, the boy from a civilian family, still thought that C-level missions would not be as boring as D-level missions, and he wanted to prove it.

"No, sensei. The mission Hokage-sama has given us is to save a village. It's not an escort mission, and unlike D-level missions, you can give yourself time to rest after completing it."

Yuta wasn't really convinced by his words, but he easily overcame his own laziness when he thought that there were photos outside the village waiting to be caught by him, and if one of his students benefited during this mission, he could continue to live in the village without accepting a new mission for at least a week as a healing leave.

"What kind of mission is this? Ken you tell me, he lies a lot."

"I'm not!"

"There have been several reports of abnormal behavior in a village near the border of the fire country. From the reports, the Hokage-sama believes that the people in that village are being threatened by someone. It is our duty to go and check it out. Maybe there is nothing wrong with the village, or maybe the villagers have been taken hostage by a ninja who escaped from another country. Our mission is to find out."

After Yuta learned more about the location and time of the mission through Hyuga Ken, he decided to set off in the evening. After ordering his students to get a good night's sleep, he returned to Fern.

Hyuga Ken is a boy who stands out among his peers, although he did not reach his full potential because he was born into one of Hyuga's side families. Hoshi mun is a skilled civilian ninja, practicing both illusion and medicine.

Now the question comes to the real question. Although Fern is officially a student of this group, her combat power is close to zero because she doesn't have a magic staff. Moreover, since Fern is not a ninja, she cannot move quickly by jumping on tree branches. Yuta began to wonder if he should take her on this mission.

With his level of strength, he didn't think there would be any problems with the mission and it would be a good opportunity for Fern to see the outside world.

"Fern, we are going on a mission outside the village, would you be interested in joining us?"

Fern waited for a long time for him to speak, then she heard a sentence that met her expectations and she started to think. She was really curious about this world, but she wasn't sure if it was right to just express her interest.

Yuta became impatient as time passed, but just looking at the expression on her face was a clear answer to why he was waiting.

"Okay, since you think so much, you want to see outside the village. The real problem starts after that. Even at the ninja's running speed, it will take two days to reach the duty station outside the village. So this journey will be a long and arduous one. If you want, I can put you in my shadow so that when we reach our destination I can take you out and you won't be tired."

Fern thought for only a few seconds before nervously rejecting his idea.

"I've been on long journeys before! No problem, Yuta-sama."

When Yuta heard her louder-than-usual tone of voice, he saw how conscious she was about her involvement in the shadows. Naturally, every human being was afraid to be part of these shadows because once they stepped into his shadow, they would have to do whatever Yuta said. Nobody wants to lose their will like that.

"Huff... Actually, I'm going to break the shadow contract again when I get there, but I don't think that's going to convince you. If this offer had been made to me, I would have chosen to refuse it without hesitation, but you should know this: If I want to force someone weaker than me into my shadow, all I have to do is beat them hard."

Hearing the last piece of information after the first words, Fern was momentarily frightened, but she was a smart girl and later, when she thought about these words, she would understand what Yuta really meant. Yuta was also aware of this, so he said these words to her.

"Anyway. We're leaving at night, so go and sleep. I'm going to sleep too."

Yuta then went to his room and, after closing the door, went into the shadows and went to the center of the village. Sleeping at night was really a matter of choice for him. Just looking at the dark world was enough to fill Yuta's body with energy.

After wandering around a bit, Yuta easily found Tsunade, as there were already two casinos in the village, and took his place at the table, trying to win back the money she had lost. Of course, since he played without any cheating, the odds of winning the money back were not very high. The main thing was the fun of the game.

As the hours passed like this, Yuta realized that it was getting dark and after putting the money he had won from Tsunade in his shadow, he excused himself and disappeared. When Tsunade saw him leave, she lost interest in gambling and got up from the table. She had already learned that he was going on a mission while he was still playing.
