Chapter 44 - Chapter 43

Yuta had thought enough about Sakumo's suicide until now and decided that there was only one thing he could do about it. He was not a psychologist in his old life. He could not overcome Sakumo's psychological problems by talking.

He was as strong as a real Jonin just by using chakra and taijutsu, but no matter how strong he was, he couldn't protect a person against himself. That was the job of the god and his favorite guys, not Yuta. There was only one thing Yuta could do as a human, and that was what he had come here to do.

Yuta looked up at the burning lights of the two-story detached house across from him. This was where he had lived when he first came to Konoha. Yuta closed his eyes and recalled a memory of Kakashi and Sakumo fighting in the chaos of trying to feed him. He was sitting at the baby table while Kakashi scolded his father for putting meat in the food.

When Kakashi saw his father trying to throw diced meat into the boiling pot, he rushed over and grabbed his arm. "What are you doing, Dad? Even I get a stomach ache when I eat meat at this hour, if you feed him meat he'll get sick for sure!"

Sakumo released his son's hand, patted his head, and explained with a smile. "I often boiled meat for you when you are a baby. The important thing is that the cubes are small enough. Relax, it's not the first time your father has cared for a child."

Kakashi looked at his father with widened eyes when he heard that his father had fed him meat when he was a child and pushed him into a corner and tried to puree some vegetables to make baby food. Sakumo was secretly happy to see that his son had no objections about Yuta and left him to prepare the food.

Yuta found himself smiling involuntarily as he recalled this warm family memory of his first day in Konoha. At that moment someone grabbed his shoulder.

_________ A few minutes later, in the woods behind the Hatake house

Yuta used to think that he didn't feel much for Sakumo, but after the argument they had just had, he found himself involuntarily feeling sad. Sakumo had indeed decided to commit suicide, and when he realized that Yuta suspected it, he didn't even hide it from him.

"I'm surprised that you really haven't forgotten me after all this time, Yuta. And didn't you say anything to your brother?"

Yuta saw Sakumo trying to change the subject and tried to angrily tell him that everything was staged by Danzo, but Sakumo smiled at him and suddenly pulled him into his lap and hugged him tightly. "Yuta, aren't you eating properly at Tsunade's house? Why haven't you grown at all in the last year?"

Yuta stopped trying to resist the warmth coming from Sakumo's chest and surrendered. "It's probably something to do with my bloodline, I guess when I get strong enough I'll turn into an egg again and then I'll probably go straight into the adult stage."

Sakumo realized that Yuta had already found the answers to many questions that even he couldn't answer and let him go, realizing that he had matured. "I'm sorry Yuta, I miss my wife so much. I hope you won't hate me in the future."

Yuta had never lived long enough in his previous life to see a close relative die, and it was the first time in his life that he could feel the death of someone close to him so intimately. What he had just hugged was a corpse that had lost the energy to live, and touching it led to a vague ache in Yuta's throat.

Yuta and Sakumo continued to chat in the forest until it got dark. At one point Sakumo said that he wanted to have a father-son sparring session with Yuta before he died, and the two of them fought together for a long time.

Eventually, Yuta became emotionally stable again and Sakumo, realizing this, told him to go home and not to worry about Tsunade.

Yuta returned home knowing that Sakumo was going to commit suicide tonight. Fortunately, Tsunade had gone to the casino and was not home. Yuta was afraid that Tsunade would realize his situation and when he saw that she was not home, he breathed a sigh of relief and went up to his room. He then lay in bed all night trying to get the scene of Kakashi finding Sakumo's body out of his mind.

The next day Yuta guessed that Sakumo was dead, but he couldn't bring himself to visit Kakashi and help him. So Yuta spent another whole day without getting out of bed.

Around noon, Tsunade woke up from her drunken slumber and came to check on Yuta when she realized that he hadn't gone to school. As Yuta continued to lie quietly in bed, he told Tsunade that he felt weak and that was the end of it.

Of course, Tsunade walked out the door and came back in a few minutes with a herbal concoction.

Tsunade put the glass on the coffee table next to the bed sat on the corner of the bed and put her hand on Yuta's forehead and took his temperature. "Come on, get up and drink this liquor. You are sick... Men come to me for the recipe for my special energy drink, but I don't give it to anyone. You should be grateful to me, kid."

Yuta took the glass Tsunade gave him and drank it in one go, then hugged her shoulder thanked her, and asked her to leave the room, saying he wanted to go to sleep.

Tsunade left the room without noticing anything strange because she was used to Yuta being sweet, but then she noticed something. Yuta was not resting his head on her breasts as usual when he was showing affection but on her shoulder. This obviously meant that he was upset about something.

Tsunade thought for a while and decided to find out for herself what was going on, so she left the house and headed for the Hokage building.
