The Nightveil Caverns loomed ahead, dark and foreboding. The walls of the cavern glistened with faintly glowing crystals, casting eerie shadows across the jagged rock formations. Canila Panort led his guild through the narrow passageways, his sharp eyes scanning for traps and hidden dangers.
"Stay close," Canila said, his voice low but commanding. "These caverns are full of creatures that can sense movement. We need to be careful."
Braxus grunted, gripping his axe tightly. "I'm ready to crush anything that comes at us."
Rhea moved silently alongside him, her daggers drawn and eyes alert. "Let's hope it doesn't come to that. The creatures here are said to be as strong as mini-bosses."
Kael, ever the strategist, nodded. "We need to conserve our strength for the deeper levels. That's where the real treasures lie—and probably more dangerous foes."
Canila couldn't agree more. While the treasures of Nightveil Caverns were alluring, his primary focus was on the information he'd heard in his past life. The Obsidian Scrolls—ancient relics that contained lost knowledge about Elysium's true origins—were rumored to be hidden somewhere within these depths.
But even with all his future knowledge, there were still mysteries that eluded him. And as they descended deeper into the caverns, Canila had the unsettling feeling that something far more powerful than mere monsters awaited them.
Deeper into the Caverns:
The group moved cautiously through the winding tunnels, encountering various traps and ambushes from powerful monsters. Canila's leadership and quick thinking were crucial in guiding the group, and with each encounter, they grew stronger.

"I'm feeling the power surging," Braxus said after they defeated a particularly tough wave of creatures. "This Plunder Ability is no joke."
Kael nodded, wiping sweat from his brow. "It's boosting our stats quickly, but we can't get reckless."
Canila stayed silent, his focus razor-sharp. The Plunder Ability was evolving, becoming more potent with each use. The stronger his enemies, the greater the rewards. But Canila knew there were risks. The ability was volatile, and overusing it could draw unwanted attention.
At the Heart of the Caverns:
The group finally reached a massive chamber, the heart of the Nightveil Caverns. At the center of the chamber lay a giant, ornate stone tablet, partially buried in rubble.
"That must be it," Rhea whispered, her eyes wide. "The Obsidian Scrolls."
But as they moved closer, a low growl echoed through the chamber. From the shadows emerged a massive beast—Nightveil Guardian, the ancient protector of the scrolls. Its black fur shimmered with shadow energy, and its eyes glowed with an otherworldly light.
Boss Battle Initiated: Nightveil Guardian (Level 40)
Canila drew his sword, his heart racing. "Stay sharp! This thing is on another level."
The battle began, and the Nightveil Guardian attacked with blinding speed, its claws slashing through the air with deadly precision. Canila activated Shadow Step, dodging its strikes and retaliating with Twilight Slash. The others followed his lead, using their skills to land hits, but the beast's thick hide absorbed most of the damage.
Braxus roared as he swung his axe, managing to wound the creature, but the Guardian retaliated with a powerful swipe that sent him flying.
"We need to find a weakness!" Kael shouted, casting a defensive barrier around Braxus.
Rhea darted in, her daggers flashing as she targeted the beast's legs, trying to slow it down.
Canila, meanwhile, was focusing his energy. This was the perfect moment to use Plunder. He knew the Guardian possessed immense power, and if he could land a critical blow, he could absorb a significant portion of it.
Timing his attack perfectly, Canila activated Plunder Ability and struck the Guardian's exposed flank. The energy surged into him, and for a moment, the world seemed to slow.
Plunder Activated:
Absorbed +30 Strength
Absorbed +25 Endurance
Absorbed Unique Skill: Shadow Fury (Rank 1)
The Nightveil Guardian let out a deafening roar as it staggered back, weakened from the attack. With the power boost Canila had gained, he unleashed a devastating combination of Shadow Step and Shadow Fury, striking the Guardian in rapid succession.
The beast faltered, and with one final slash from Kael, it collapsed to the ground, defeated.
Boss Defeated: Nightveil Guardian (Level 40)
+10,000 EXP
Acquired: Obsidian Scrolls
Acquired: Nightveil Guardian's Core (Enhances Shadow-type abilities)
The group breathed a collective sigh of relief as the Guardian's body dissipated into particles. Canila approached the stone tablet and retrieved the Obsidian Scrolls, feeling a strange power emanating from them.
"These will be crucial," Canila said, his voice steady but filled with anticipation. "They hold secrets about Elysium that no one else knows."
"Let's hope it was worth the fight," Rhea said, still catching her breath.
As they began to make their way back to the surface, Canila's mind raced with possibilities. The Obsidian Scrolls could unlock untold power, but they also carried a warning—a warning that would soon blur the lines between the game world and reality even further.
Back to Reality:
Canila logged out after the intense battle, returning to his apartment once more as James Velor. He had planned to rest, but his mind wouldn't stop racing. Something about the Obsidian Scrolls had triggered a strange memory from his past life. The scrolls spoke of ancient powers tied to Elysium's creation, powers that could reach beyond the game itself.
His phone buzzed. It was a message from Amelia.
Message from Amelia:
"James, I found something strange about Elysium's latest patch. Meet me tomorrow—we need to talk."
James frowned, feeling a cold chill run down his spine. The real world and Elysium were beginning to intertwine in ways he hadn't anticipated.
Something big was coming, and Canila Panort would need more than just game knowledge to face it.
