Chereads / Allure Of The Witch / Chapter 8 - The Panicked Rayan

Chapter 8 - The Panicked Rayan

Tristan glanced at Aria cooking on the stove silently as he put down the stack of firewood on the ground. His eyes were just full of curiosity.

Rayan who followed him with another stack of firewood in his hands and a basket of fresh vegetables and fruits for Aria saw this scene and frowned deeply.

He knew that, as a knight, Tristan had the habit of knowing almost everything around him. But this time, he really wanted Tristan to leave Aria out of it.

"Tristan"

He called out as he walked to stand in front of him.

"Yes, My Lord!"

Tristan said immediately, as if he was ready to do anything Rayan asked him to do.

"Stop staring at her. She will feel uncomfortable."

"Ohh..."

Tristan said with a confused frown on his forehead but did as he was asked to do. Looking away from Aria, he started looking at the hut now. Rayan left him alone and moved towards the stove to help Aria.

As he took his seat near Aria and started picking vegetables and fruits from the basket, Aria glanced at him and then looked away immediately. Rayan didn't notice the emotional turmoil she has been going through since they had met Tristan.

"Should it be this way?"

She heard him say something. Of course, she didn't understand, so she had to look towards him. Rayan was gesturing towards the cut vegetables.

She merely nodded.

Satisfied, Rayan continued. Just like that, he seriously helped Aria with everything she was doing.

Tristan who finished looking around, noticed this and gaped.

"My Lord! Why must you do this? Let me do it!"

He exclaimed and tried to take the knife away from Rayan. His master was served by uncountable servants in his manor.

When had he done such work with them being around him!

They respected him too much to let him do such things.

But Rayan frowned at him and avoided his hand.

"Just sit silently there."

Rayan said or should be said almost ordered. Tristan, however, was still unconvinced.

"But My Lord, if it's about helping the lady, I can do it. You should rest."

But Rayan refused firmly and spoke coldly as if Tristan was irritating him.

"Don't irritate."

After hearing this, how could Tristan say more?

With a stifled heart, he walked away.

As he watched his master chopping vegetables, he almost cried. Those hands ....they were not made for chopping vegetables.

They belonged to the greatest warrior of Yiorgos! They have trained capable warriors.

As Tristan tried to control himself from shedding tears at such a scene, Aria was busy controlling herself from crying.

Tears almost threatened to fall down from her eyes, but she kept telling herself that she was fine. It was alright.

Even if he left, she had been living on her own before.

So what was wrong with it again!

All the time, she kept her head down, but she could still hear. As they talked to each other and even understood whatever they were saying, she felt more scared.

They knew each other so well.

And they looked so strong...both of them. Why would he stay with her, who looked so short and thin?

Finally, Aria knew that she wouldn't be able to control herself from crying, so she picked up the onions and started chopping them.

Rayan frowned in confusion.

The vegetable soup was already on the stove and boiling. Did they need onions? But he didn't question her... atleast until he noticed tears falling down her cheeks.

A deep frown marred his forehead as he took the knife from her hands, forgetting all the acts of a gentleman not touching a lady.

"Let me do it."

Aria raised her head to look at him.

He had already started chopping the onions.

After chopping two, he raised his head and asked her.

"Do you need more?"

Aria had wiped her tears. Her eyes were slightly red. She looked at him in confusion, as she didn't understand what he was asking.

But she was more confused about the fact that he was not crying while chopping onions.

Why?!

Even her grandmother used to cry while chopping onions.

And finally, the dam broke down. Aria sobbed as fresh tears rolled down her eyes. Rayan was baffled at this sudden change.

What did he do?

His eyes were full of panic and concern.

"Wh..at happened?!"

He asked, a little flustered.

Tristan, who was seated a little away, was only concerned about his master. So when he heard his master's voice, he went there immediately.

"My Lord! What happened?"

He asked as he approached them.

"I...don't know."

Rayan said, a little confused, as he looked at the crying Aria. His eyes were full of concern as he tried to interpret the reason.

In the end, he picked up the onions he had chopped and showed them to her.

"Is it wrong? Don't cry. I will chop them again."

He picked fresh onions and started chopping again, but Aria cried only more loudly in return. Rayan stopped immediately.

Feeling embarrassed, Aria cupped her mouth and wiped her tears with her other hand, trying to stop herself.

But at that moment, Tristan decided to interfere again.

"My Lord...what happened?"

Tristan called out in complete confusion as he stared at his master and then at Aria.

Hearing his voice, Aria looked at him and soon fresh tears accumulated in her eyes and she sobbed yet again.

Rayan who had just sighed in relief, noticed this and panicked again. Looking at Tristan coldly, he ordered

"Go out right now!"

Tristan was only more confused about this order.

"But My Lord..."

"Out right now Tristan!"

Rayan ordered sharply and the next moment, Tristan ran outside the hut as if his tail was on fire.
