Three days later.
Medeia packed her belongings into one backpack and wore a thick dark coat to shield her from dust and scratches. Beneath the cloak, she used a fitted, sleeveless black tunic that allowed her to move easily.
After she tied her hair into a ponytail and laced her boots, she went to the village gate to wait for Simon and the hunting group there.
"Medeia? why are you here?"
The first hunter who arrived—Harry Grant—looked confused when he noticed Medeia looked like she was ready to go outside of the village.
[Ding! Ding! The system has detected a potential handsome, kind husband!]
[Name: Harry Grant
Age: 28
Ability: Inhuman Strength (Grade-S)
Handsome Value: 65/100
Kind-Hearted Value: 83/100]
[Do you want to accept him as your potential husband? (Yes/No)]
Medeia, without hesitation, chose 'No' for a second time.
[Why? Why? Why? He's the son of the village chief, so you'll gain many benefits if you date him and become the future village chief's wife].
'I was the Queen of Hell, so ruling a small village doesn't sound like a benefit to me.'
The system didn't make another offer as it couldn't debunk Medeia's answer.
Medeia leaned against the fence and answered Harry's question calmly, "Didn't Simon tell you the reason?"
As Harry creased his forehead, Medeia already knew the answer.
Simon must have decided not to tell the others about her because he was certain that the hunting group would reject her outright.
"Holy shit! Simon, you weren't lying when you said Miss Medeia will join us today!" a young woman around mid-twenty walked down toward the gate with Simon.
Because she was a woman, the system didn't show any information about her.
Simon scratched his head and murmured under his breath. "She insisted on joining us."
"You what?!" Harry, who finally understood the situation, seemed to be concerned. "Medeia, have you lost your mind?!"
The villagers knew that Medeia had the ability to summon fresh water for them, so of course they didn't want their important assets to die and cause the village to go into water shortage again.
After all, her ability was more important to them than her life.
People might find it an insult, but Medeia took it as an opportunity to enslave them.
Medeia tapped on her head. "My mind is perfectly fine, and I'm just a bystander so I'll avoid the danger."
"Oh, you should be. My father will kill me if I let you die!" shouted Harry. His face turned as pale as a paper, reminding Medeia of sinners that would freak out everytime she wanted to throw them into a hot cauldron.
"Relax ... I'm not dying yet, kiddo," said Medeia. "Besides, I had killed a Grade-D mutant before, so isn't that enough to make you believe I can fight?"
Harry looked hesitant when he said, "You are just lucky. The spider had already tired of fighting many hunters before it broke into the church."
Medeia rolled her eyes. "Right. I'm lucky that I could kill the spider by jumping from the second floor."
"Damn! That's cool!" Naomi gave her a thumbs up. "Just ignore the boys, they are afraid we'll steal their spotlight."
"I'm not! I just worry about her!" shouted Harry.
Suddenly, she felt someone touch her shoulder, but she couldn't see who it was.
"Why're you guys reacting so badly? Isn't it nice to have a pretty lady in our group?"
A young man with brunette hair suddenly appeared from nowhere, making Medeia almost choke him to death if only she didn't hear the system's voice.
[Ding! Ding! The system has detected a potential handsome, kind husband!]
[Name: Ren Zhang
Age: 26
Ability: Invisibility (Grade-A)
Handsome Value: 85/100
Kind-Hearted Value: 87/100]
[Do you want to accept him as your potential husband? (Yes/No)]
Oh, his handsome and kind value was higher than Simon and Harry. However, Medeia still chose 'No' as the answer.
The system had grown tired of questioning her bad decisions, so it didn't overreact and simply asked, [Why?]
'He annoys me.'
She disliked it the most when people touched her carelessly, so Ren was a big no. Besides, he seemed like a womanizer who loved to play with a lot of beauties.
"What do you mean by that, Ren?!" Naomi growled at him. "Are you saying that I'm ugly?!"
Ren stepped back, avoiding Naomi who was ready to throw a pebble at him. "Hey, hey, I'm not the one who says that, girl."
"Naomi, you're not ugly!" Simon's words calmed her down for a few seconds before he spoke again, "But Miss Medeia is more beautiful."
"You two really like to test my patience!"
Before Naomi could hit one of them, Harry spoke in a stern intonation. "Stop it, all of you! We're about to go to a dangerous place, but how can you act like a bunch of children!"
After Harry scolded them, none of them dared to speak, even Ren closed his mouth tightly.
"It's your fault for bringing them together in one group, leader."
Medeia turned around and shifted her gaze several times between Ren and a young man in front of her.
They had the same face, the same features, and even the same voice. However, the young man had a completely different manner than Ren.
While Ren had an easy-going nature and smiled every ten seconds, the other young man had a cold expression on his face.
[The system has detected a potential handsome, kind husband!]
[Name: Tian Zhang
Age: 26
Ability: Hyper-Precision (Grade-SS)
Handsome value: 85/100
Kind-Hearted Value: 60/100]
[Do you want to accept him as your potential husband? (Yes/No)]
'No.'
Before the system asked her a question, Medeia had already explained, 'His cold manners remind me of my ex.'
Aside from that, Medeia felt uncomfortable dating a man who looked identical to his brother. Based on their age, she guessed that they must be twins.
"Brother! I thought you wouldn't come because of your illness!" Ren immediately approached him.
"Tian, are you sick?" Naomi seemed worried when she heard that.
"I just have a cough, it's not a big deal." Tian continued, "Besides, I'm afraid my silly brother will make trouble without me."
"I'm not!"
Tian completely ignored his brother as he focused all his attention on Medeia. "If you want to die so badly, I can kill you right now."
He wanted to take Ren's sword, but his brother held his hand down. "Tian, what are you doing?"
"There are only two kinds of people who want to go out: a strong one and a madman." Tian glared at Medeia. "I don't care what kind of madman you are, but the outside world is not a playground for a weakling like you."
"Tian, don't be rude!" shouted Simon. His smile had vanished from her face, leaving a sharp eye that burned with anger.
When the situation was getting tense, Medeia suddenly laughed out loud and made everyone turn their heads toward her.
"Hah! Bold of you to assume I've never seen scary things before." Medeia raised her chin up. "Now listen to me carefully, pretty boy. I didn't kill a Lost just because I was lucky."
"I have fought as hard as any other hunter and just because I've never raised a weapon in front of you doesn't mean I'm weak." Medeia smiled. "Besides, I'm not going outside for vacation, silly."
Tian pushed the sword onto Ren, then said, "If you insist on joining us, then I'll not reject you anymore. But, I won't take the responsibility if you die."
"As you know, humans can't stay alive without water." Medeia swept away the nonexistent dust on Tian's shoulder. "So, if you and your silly brother want to stay alive, you better make sure I'll return to this village in one piece."
Medeia was sure she could survive on her own, but it wouldn't be fun if she didn't take advantage of desperate humans to protect her.
[Warning! Warning! Threaten detected!]
[Penalty: Minus 100 C-Points]
Medeia clenched her jaw when she received that notification. Was the system expecting her to cry or keep quiet when someone insulted her?
'I'm not threatening him, but just giving him a valuable lesson.'
[What kind of lesson?]
'Now imagine, If I forgive him easily, Tian will think he's not doing anything wrong and he'll become a jerk in the future.'
[The host is really mindful and kind!]
[The system has canceled the penalty]
Medeia hadn't expected that she could convince the system easily. Whoever made the system must not know that the sarcasm existed.
On the other side, Tian was taken aback by Medeia's response, but he immediately maintained his calmness. "You're not as gentle as people say, Miss Medeia."
"Even a gentle rabbit still can bite if it feels threatened."
