Chapter 20 - Lost Focus

"Miss Medeia! Nico! You are alive!"

The children immediately ran toward them. The bright smiles appeared on their faces and they couldn't help but jump to hug Medeia.

The former demon queen was left speechless by their action. She wasn't able to move because of how strong their hugs were.

Fortunately, Sister Jeanne came as her savior. "Alright, children. Let's give Miss Medeia some space."

The children immediately listened to the nun, except for one. Lilac was still standing by her side, then gave her a scrunch paper ball.

Lilac spoke enthusiastically. "I saved the fries for you."

Medeia opened the ball and found a piece of fried potato. It didn't look tasty at all, but Lilac's big doe-eyes made it impossible for her to say what she really thought.

Children were truly a menace to her life.

"Thank you." Medeia faked her smile, then patted Lilac's head.

After talking with Sister Jeanne for a while, she returned to her room. Medeia hit her shoulder softly to reduce her soreness. "When will I got my demon's physique back? I'm tired of this shitty body."

[Be patient, Host! Your body will get stronger once you reach level 15!]

However, who knew damn long she could reach that level.

She sat on her hard bed, then opened her status panel.

Medeia was intrigued by her new skill, especially the Hydromancy. It said she could create a temporary barrier by using water, but was it really endurable?

She took out a water bucket from under her bed, then trying to use her new skill.

[Activating Skills: Hydromancy]

She was an expert in control magic, so manipulating the water was no challenge for her. She moved her fingers to guide the water, creating a small dome to protect the bucket. The surface of the water became solid as soon as she locked the form.

"Not bad." She observed the barrier carefully, trying to find its weakness. "How long will it last?"

[The barrier will remain intact as long as Host doesn't lost focus on it]

Medeia scoffed at the system, "Such a weak condition! For your information, I have such a great—"

"Medeia!"

Splash!

"—focus." Medeia sighed harshly as the barrier turned back into the water.

"What are you doing?" Lucian enters the room through the open window. He looked at the wet floor, wondering why Medeia playing with the water.

Instead of answering his question, Medeia asked, "How did you get in here? This is the second floor!"

Medeia went to the window and lowered her gaze to see how high the ground was.

"I jump." Lucian smiled widely. "It's not that high."

His action was bizarre, but Medeia had seen his extraordinary side before, so she was no longer surprised by his behavior.

"Why are you entering my room through the window instead of knocking on my door?"

She would be thrilled if a hot man barged through her window, so they could spend the night together quietly. However, she knew Lucian wasn't that kind of man.

Or was he?

Lucian immediately realized what he had done. "I'm so sorry!" He said, "I used to enter the building through the window all this time, so I accidentally did that."

Medeia was a little disappointed because Lucian hadn't intended to do anything nasty to her.

"Do you want to tell me something?" asked Medeia.

"Naomi had buried the stone of fertility since last night, so the Chief decides to plant the seeds now," reported Lucian enthusiastically.

Wow, Naomi really was an easy target to manipulate.

She only faked her tears once and immediately did what Medeia told her to do.

Medeia had to make sure she stayed alive, so she could serve her for a long time.

"They really did a great job in one day." Medeia murmured, "No wonder this village can stand for years."

"Because of you, everyone can eat fresh vegetables soon." Lucian praised her, "I really think you can change the world to be better."

He sounded genuine and there was a hint of hope in his voice.

Medeia wanted to say something, but Lucian had already jumped out of the window.

"Stop jumping from the damn window!" shouted Medeia.

[Mild foul language detected! Penalty -10 C-Points!]

Come on! She just warned Lucian, so he didn't hurt himself!

[There is no excuse to say bad words!]

Lucian waved his hand from below the window. "People might find it odd if I get out of your door!"

People would certainly know about them because they had been shouting at each other so loud.

"Where do you want to go?" asked Medeia.

"I want to see Nico. I forgot to give him homework."

Poor boy.

His teacher still gave him homework even if the world was dying.

Lucian continued, "You need to sleep more. I don't want you to be sick!"

People used to say that because they didn't want their water supply reduced, but Lucian didn't need her water to live, so he was really caring for her.

Medeia smiled. "I won't be sick."

Nico was learning under Lucian for almost two weeks. His teacher gave him homework to make a small shield to protect a flower.

However, each time he summoned the shield, it would hit the flower and accidentally destroy it.

"I can't do it!" Nico almost threw the flower on to the ground due to being frustrated.

Medeia bit into a fresh tomato as she watched his frustration. She found it amusing to witness a human's desperation again.

"Just calm down, Nico," said Medeia.

Bear, who was standing beside her growl, as if it agreed with Medeia.

"I'm calm!" Nico kicked the gate several times, making Ren who guarded it stopped him.

"Geez, Nico. You'll destroy the gate!" protested Ren.

"Right! The only thing I can do is destroy something!" Nico laughed at himself, making everyone around him question his sanity.

Ren, "Where is Lucian? He needs to calm his student down before he turns into the Lost!"

Medeia, "He is helping Sister Jeanne make tomato soup, and promises to check on Nico after that."

In just two weeks, the vegetables were ready for harvest. Chief Eldric had made a schedule to take turns tending their farm, so the farm was well maintained.

Beside that, the stone had increased crop yield by 200% so that they had enough food for everyone.

"What if I can't do it?" Nico sighed and sat on the dirt.

Medeia, "Stop worrying and start to practice more!"

She groaned in her heart. If Nico couldn't control his ability soon, she wouldn't be able to complete her mission.

"But still …."

Medeia clicked her tongue, then suddenly threw her dagger at Nico and it landed right next to his hand.

Everyone was shocked by her action, even the system immediately spoke in her mind.

[Murder Attempt Alert! Murder Attempt Alert!]

[Host's C-Point will reduce to 0 if Host kill innocent people]

'Relax. Do you think I'll kill a child?'

[....]

The system's silence had already answered her question.

'I'm not gonna kill him! I just want to speed up his progress!'

Medeia approached Nico. "Get up now." She spoke in a serious tone. "Maybe you'll learn faster if your body feels threatened."
