[ Important before reading: 1) I decided to create fanfiction in the Tower of God universe because there is a complete shortage of fanfiction, and unfortunately, few are good, so I hope to satisfy you. 2) English is not my native language, so I use DpeeL, Grammarly, and ChatGPT to help me with translations. 3) I haven't made a chapter release schedule; however, I will try to at least make one per week. 4) The main character of this fanfiction will not mindlessly follow Baam, and Baam will do the same; they each have their own stories. 5) Enjoy this story and happy reading!" ]
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
From the outside, many ancient legends tell of a tower of almost limitless dimensions, where anyone could obtain whatever they desire—be it wealth and opulence, honour and recognition, authority and power, or even revenge. It is said that if a being were to reach the top of this tower, it would receive the power necessary to fulfil even the smallest of their wishes.
However, this tower does not allow just anyone from the outside to climb it; only a few rare chosen ones can claim to open these doors and begin their ascent of this structure. Beyond the legends, the inhabitants of the tower call these individuals 'irregulars' because, unlike them, they can ascend without the permission of the administrator of the first floor, and they can also evade the rules established by the tower while being able to use the tower's life energy, equivalent to air in the outside world, called Shinsu, without having to make contracts with the administrators of the various floors.
But one day, nearly eight years before the arrival of the boy who was prophesied to take revenge on King Zahard and continue the Tower's conquest for all its inhabitants, an unprecedented event in the entire history of the Tower occurred. An entity not only passed through the gates, producing a shockwave of Shinsu that every powerful being in the Tower could feel, but this irregular was not on the first floor to meet Headon; no, this anomaly was already on the higher floors, in a place accessible only to the members and close associates of an influential family, it was the mothership of the Yeon family. One of the 10 great families that had almost total power over the first 134 floors of the Tower.
But upon sensing this shockwave of Shinsu, the Administrator of the first floor, Headon, who took the form of a humanoid white rabbit and could move freely within the Tower, was surprised and alarmed for a moment. However, he quickly understood what was happening in the Tower and revealed a predatory smile.
"Thus, these beings capable of bending reality to their will, commonly known as Axes, began to interfere with the Tower again, after that so-called outer god with whom Arlen Grace was able to speak, and Phantaminum. I didn't think another one of these beings would appear so soon and commit such an act. Why, then, would this overpowering being, who can obtain anything, leave an irregular in the form of a weak infant with no blood relation to him directly in the home of a family head and leave without a trace? I admit this baffles me, but it doesn't change our plan, does it? Father of the Workshop, Macseth." he said with deep certainty, watching the most ingenious man in the entire history of the Tower return an enigmatic smile.
The mothership of the Yeon family consisted of immense floating platforms of unparalleled beauty, where each building featured traditional architecture, adorned with the incomparable Zygaena flower, a pink bloom embellished with a precious stone that only grows within the Shinheuh Zygaena, a creature of the Tower found only on the 21st floor, which is under the jurisdiction of the Yeon family. This gave them a monopoly on Zygaena flowers, allowing them to amass fortune both in jewellery and by creating antidotes based on this flower.
In one of the gardens near the central palace stood a woman with ethereal red hair, and just by her presence, it was clear that she did not belong to the Yeon family. She held an infant in her arms and then placed it among the Zygaena flowers.
"Here, and only here, will you have the chance to reveal yourself, to be the spark that this Tower desires so much. I want to see with my own eyes what you, an innocent, powerless, and nameless child, can build as a story!" she murmured with great conviction, vanishing immediately and not caring about the child's cries as it struggled to breathe amidst all the surrounding Shinsu.
The child kept crying and struggling for its life, but no one could heed its pleas or sense its presence, except for one person who had felt the wave of Shinsu from the appearance of the woman with red hair, as well as the presence of an individual in her territory who had no connection to her family. She went to eliminate the threat, stepping down from her precious throne, thinking it was the source of the powerful Shinsu. But to her surprise, she found it was a defenceless infant. Noticing that the child was struggling to survive because of her own Shinsu, without even questioning it, she took the child in her arms and embraced it with a green flame, the flame she had inherited from an ancient people of the Tower that could heal everything, thus stabilizing the child's breathing.
Of course, this woman was the head of the Yeon family, Yirang Yeon, renowned as the most beautiful among the family heads with her graceful figure, long black hair, and pink eyes. However, as for her personality, she was radically different from her past self. Gone was the woman with a sparkling personality and deep kindness toward everyone; she was now cold and clearly did not show her emotions, even when she awaited the joyful coos of the child in her arms.
She sighed, thinking to herself: "I have truly become a monster like all my former companions; I have even become numb to the sight of a child..."
Indeed, after making an immortality contract with the administrator of the 100th floor and erasing certain memories that could have fractured the other family heads and her former companion, now king, Zahard, she had become an emotionless puppet over the millennia. She spent her time not caring for her family but rather engaging in botany. As her emotions began to fade, her kindness did as well. The only semblance of kindness that remained was not treating non-irregulars as insects, as all her former companions did, even though she thought that way internally.
In a robotic voice, as she walked toward her throne, she spoke while looking at the child: "I have no idea what I will do with you. If you were a girl, Zahard could have made you one of his princesses, and you would be safe for the rest of your life. However, due to your irregular status, I know you have a high chance of being killed or exploited by one of the other great families."
Shortly after, Yirang arrived in the majestic throne room of the Yeon family, where everything was richly decorated. A magnificent throne built from the strongest wood of the Tower stood at the middle, with two braziers lit with red and pink flames on either side and above it proudly displayed was the Yeon family banner featuring their emblem, the Zygaena flower.
"I see that you are here, Ilarde; that's very good. I needed you to advise me," she said in a somewhat familiar tone, observing Illarde Yeon, the most loyal member of her family.
Illarde was shocked to know that her family head had needed her, but she quickly regained her composure to avoid incurring her wrath. Although Yirang seemed to ignore most emotions, the anger for which she was already known during her rise in the Tower alongside other great warriors still lingered. "Of course, Lady Yirang, I will always be by your side and will advise you to the best of my ability."
Illarde is not just any member of the Yeon family; she is one of the few inhabitants of the Tower who undertook the journey with the current family heads and Zahard. She was extremely close to Yirang, to the point where after becoming head of the family, Yirang decided to consider her a sister and have her join her own family. However, as Yirang arbitrarily chose to stop loving anyone and still wanted a family of her own, it fell to Illarde to select men of her choice and bear a certain number of children that Yirang Yeon could imbue with her own Shinsu, so they would share the power of her flames as well as her physical traits, ultimately building a large family with the first-generation children. That is why she is nicknamed "The Godmother."
"Do you see, Illarde? Today I encountered an anomaly; it is the young boy in my arms. I don't know how this happened, but this infant ended up in our territory, and he was suffering, so I healed him and held him in my arms. But knowing that he is, like me, an irregular, I know that there will certainly be those who want to kill him, fearing he could become a weapon for the FUG to use against us. So instead of having to kill an innocent child who could prove to be like us and bring life to this dull Tower, I just imagined adopting him into the Yeon family. What do you think?"
Illarde was outraged by such a proposal, especially seeing Yirang wanting to offer an important place to a boy in a matriarchal family like the Yeons. "Without meaning to offend you, Lady Yirang, but he is a boy; he will not fit well into the hierarchy of our family, especially knowing that the women in our family primarily despise men."
But all she earned for saying that was a severe, cold look from her family head, who replied in a sharp tone: "Unlike my former companion Ha Yurin, I did not choose to create a matriarchal hierarchy in my family because I saw no benefit! Out of all my kindness, I have allowed you to lead my family for millennia, and here you are wanting to stifle all the potential of my family for a silly reason. Instead of wanting to enhance their flames, my family members prefer to despise men. Until now, I didn't care about this because I found everything happening within the mother ship insignificant. But today, when we have the chance to adopt an irregular who could transform my family for the better, you prefer to reject him for your ideals that do not reflect me. To what extent can you be prideful, Ilarde?" Red and pink flames engulfed the entire room, forcing the godmother of the Yeon family to kneel under the immense pressure of Shinsu.
"I apologize, my lady; I meant no offence! Please forgive me!" Illarde was at her wit's end, begging Yirang to end the flames.
With a wave of her hand, she extinguished the flames. "I hope you understand the lesson, Ilarde. After all these years by my side, I thought you would have realized that we think differently from you! I've also reconsidered what I want to do. I still want to adopt him, but he will not grow up like your son, and you will not raise him; I will do all of this myself!"
Having regained her composure, Illarde couldn't help but be deeply shocked. After all these millennia of choosing to be alone, her family head had decided to have a child of her own to raise. "Are you sure this is wise, Lady Yirang? This child would be considered your true heir, and if his irregular status is discovered, you will have problems with the king of the Tower," she said, alarmed.
But Yirang Yeon was convinced of her choice, and nothing and no one could change her mind. "Yes, indeed, he will be my one and only son and the heir to my family. I will not make the same mistake as Gustang and Blossom, for I will protect him, even from Zahard."
Knowing that she had lost any chance to argue, Illarde resigned herself and knelt to renew her loyalty. "I, Illarde Yeon, swear to always be faithful to my family head and her heir! However, my lady, have you given him a name?"
The head of the Yeon family nodded, and her lips curled into a near smile, which once again shocked her closest sister. After all these years, Yirang could feel joy even in its most minimal form. "Yes, indeed, for my heir, I have chosen the perfect name, one that will be so similar to our family name that anyone who meets him will know he is my son. I have decided to name him Yeong Yeon; he will be my petal of flower, embracing the entire Tower."
Just after naming her child, she formed two incandescent flames on either side: one red and pink, symbolizing the flame that destroys all, and the other a green flame, representing the flame that can heal everything. She imbued her new child with these flames. "From now on, Yeong, my heir, it is fitting that you share the flame I received from the people I later massacred. With this, you will always be able to bring both life and death in the Tower."
Ilarde watched with joy as the beauty of the two flames transformed the boy profoundly, changing the colour of his eyes to pink and his hair to black, while also allowing him to survive the Shinsu in the room.
As for Yirang, she seemed proud to be able to call a child her son for the first time. "With you, Yeong, I choose to make a bet on the future. Will you use the pink flame to bring about the destruction of the Tower and the system of the 10 great families, or will you turn towards the green flame and heal the deep-seated malice that plagues the Tower and its members? Whatever your choice, I will support you, my heir"
And so began the journey of Yeong Yeon within the Tower.
