Chapter 53 - Chapter 52 Tsunade: The Clown Is Actually Me

"Hahaha... Hiccup, he has a good talent?"

Tsunade, who was laughing wildly one second, stopped dead in her tracks the next second.

Her eyes widened, and she asked, "Katsuyu Sennin, are you sure his talent is very good?"

"Yes, his talent is very good, not worse than Hashirama. If he is willing to work hard, he will definitely be able to learn the Sage Jutsu of Shiggou Forest."

Katsuyu Sage nodded in affirmation, even comparing Shigeru's talent with the Senju ancestor.

Shigeru's talent for learning Sage Jutsu is almost the same as his grandfather's. Doesn't that mean...the clown is actually me?

After realizing that the joke was on her, Tsunade couldn't laugh anymore.

She knew very well who her grandfather, Senju Hashirama, was. The honorific title of the God of Shinobi was recognized by the entire ninja world.

Shigeru's talent for learning Sage Jutsu can be compared with Senju Hashirama. In other words, Shigeru has a high probability of being able to learn Shigoulin Sage Jutsu.

"..."

What should I do if I regret it?

At this moment, Tsunade's feelings were conflicted—not only afraid that the man was not good enough, but also worried he was too talented, which would make her feel foolish.

After all, talent certified by Katsuyu Sage was no joke.

"Wait a minute, I want to know how to learn Sage Jutsu in Shigoulin."

If anyone else had heard these words from Katsuyu Sage, they'd probably be thrilled.

But Shigeru was calm. He wanted to know the steps and process of learning.

If learning Sage Jutsu meant being swallowed by Katsuyu Sennin, he would rather not learn it.

He didn't want to experience that terrifying sensation again.

Katsuyu Sage, being a Katsuyu and not human, didn't understand human notions of what was funny or disgusting.

For Katsuyu, the best state was being covered in mucus, as drying out meant injury.

It was unfortunate that Katsuyu enjoyed this slime covering, as most humans couldn't tolerate it—let alone being swallowed by a giant slug. The sensation was nearly too intense to bear.

Katsuyu Sennin, unaware of Shigeru's concerns, answered seriously:

"It's very simple. You meditate on the ground, during which little Katsuyu will lie on you to help you absorb natural energy."

"The little Katsuyu lying on your body not only helps you absorb natural energy but also prevents imbalances in the energy."

To learn Sage Jutsu, one must first absorb natural energy and then blend it with physical and spiritual energy to achieve a balance. Finding this balance is incredibly difficult.

Most people die tragically when practicing Sage Jutsu, failing at the step of balancing energy.

Simply absorbing natural energy, though, has a lower threshold.

A large number of small Katsuyu lying on the body helps one start absorbing natural energy and prevents imbalances, thus preventing a natural energy riot.

The result of a natural energy riot is becoming a stone statue.

This is a risk across the Sage Jutsu of Shigun Forest, Mount Myōboku, and Ryūchi Cave. If there's a problem during the study, it results in petrification.

There are quite a few stone statues on Mount Myōboku.

"Just like Mount Myōboku's toad oil?"

"Yes, but toad oil is harmful to the body, while little Katsuyu will not. They help you carefully, absorbing natural energy safely," Katsuyu Sage continued.

Hearing this, Shigeru breathed a sigh of relief.

If it was just a bunch of little Katsuyu lying on him, he could accept it. But if learning Sage Jutsu meant being swallowed by Katsuyu Sage, he'd refuse.

Once was enough for that sensation; he'd never willingly experience it again.

After agreeing on a time with Katsuyu Sage, Shigeru and Tsunade were sent back to Konoha.

"Grass!"

Just standing on the floor, Shigeru slipped and almost fell. The wet mucus all over his body was unbearable.

Katsuyu loved this slimy coating, but humans couldn't accept it—unless they were perverse.

Shigeru rushed to the bathroom without even grabbing any clothes, determined to scrub himself clean of the disgusting slime.

Are my talents truly this uncanny?

Tsunade sat on the sofa, feeling like she'd lost her soul, still questioning her own abilities.

After spending a year stationed at the border, Shigeru had just returned to the village. He needed some rest, postponed his hospital work, and decided to start learning Sage Jutsu after the New Year.

"Shigeru, wake up."

Early in the morning, Kushina came to Shigeru's room, standing quietly by his bed and calling him softly.

Thankfully, Tsunade hadn't stayed over; otherwise, Kushina would have thrown a fit upon entering.

The shattered Tsunade-hime decided she needed some time alone.

"Kushina, you're up so early?"

Shigeru raised his hand and ruffled her hair.

"It's not early," Kushina said, glancing at the window, then grabbing his wrist with her small hands, pulling hard. "Shigeru, get up! We're going to the market to buy things, and we have to marinate the meat when we get back—it takes a long time."

Dressed warmly, holding Kushina's little hand, Shigeru yawned as he stepped into the cold morning air.

Getting up early in winter was a struggle; it felt best to curl up under blankets and sleep in.

But Kushina had promised her friends a barbecue, so she had to get up early to prepare.

"Kushina, here to buy groceries again?"

"Kushina…"

Kushina often went to the market and got to know the shopkeepers.

Whenever she came, the vegetable and meat sellers' eyes gleamed.

Kushina, a bit of a "rich girl," always bought plenty of food, making her a popular customer among the vendors.

Cute, polite, and a bit extravagant, she never haggled.

"Stop it, stop it! Why don't you just take the whole market home? You can't do that even with a refrigerator," Shigeru said, wiping sweat from his forehead at her enthusiasm.

This girl was too indulgent; after being convinced by vendors, she actually intended to buy a heap of food.

"Everyone's just so nice," Kushina replied sheepishly.

Shigeru gave her a gentle tap and said, "They're 'nice' because they want you to buy everything! Follow me—I'll shop, and you're not allowed to say anything."

"Okay," she replied, pouting as if she'd just been scolded.

But the little girl was obedient, following Shigeru closely and letting him handle the shopping.

Afterward, they stopped at a ramen shop for breakfast.

As for Naoki and Tsunade… if it wasn't urgent, those two were probably sleeping in.

"Huh~~ (╯▽╰) smells so good~~."

As long as Kushina was with Shigeru, she always had a smile on her face.

The little girl was in high spirits. After eating, she took Shigeru's hand and happily skipped home.

Watching Kushina bounce around like a little rabbit, Shigeru suddenly felt like he was raising a daughter…

It took all sorts of teaching, coaxing, and company.

Back home, Shigeru gave Kushina a task: to wake up Tsunade and Naoki to get them ready for work.
