Chapter 49 - Chapter 49 Kushina, Stop Crying!

He would have a good meal and then go home to sleep.

When it comes to eating, the Akamichi family knows it all!

You can easily earn a lot of money just by making special barbecue. Such a high-income industry makes many families drool with envy.

It's a pity that they don't have the abilities of the Akamichi clan.

They can only watch.

"Good."

I picked up a piece of barbecue, dipped it in a little seasoning, and put it in my mouth. Shigeru gave it a fair evaluation.

Fresh ingredients, top-quality dips, and crisp, refreshing side dishes.

With such a combination, it would be difficult for the Akamichi family not to make money.

There are many yakiniku restaurants in Konoha, but only the one opened by the Akamichi clan is always full, and it still has the highest consumer prices.

He picked up another piece of meat and was about to eat it when, unexpectedly, a petite figure rushed toward him.

So bold!

They actually wanted to grab food mid-bite!

Shigeru raised his hand to stop the intruder, but the first thing he saw was long red hair.

Kushina?

Shigeru lowered his hand and hugged the little figure who had jumped into his arms.

"Shigeru, Grandma Mito is gone," Kushina sobbed, throwing herself into Shigeru's arms.

"How..."

Before Shigeru could finish his sentence, Tsunade snatched the roasted meat from his chopsticks and ate it in one bite. She raised an eyebrow at him, "Tastes good."

"Hey, long time no see."

Naoki grinned, pulled up a small bench, and sat beside them.

"Okay, don't cry, don't cry."

Shigeru, holding Kushina in his arms, helplessly began to comfort her.

"She's been talking about you for a whole year," Tsunade said with a knowing look as she sat next to Naoki, picking up chopsticks to grill more meat.

After a year without seeing Shigeru, Kushina's pent-up emotions finally broke free. The little girl cried her heart out, soaking Shigeru's freshly changed shirt.

But all he could do was continue to comfort her, hoping she would calm down soon.

"Kushina, how did you know I was back?"

Seeing that his comforting wasn't enough, Shigeru tried changing the subject.

"Tsuna—Sister Tsunade—told me you'd arrive in the village today," Kushina answered between sobs.

Tsunade, chewing on some barbecue, chimed in, "You didn't think to come find us when you got back? Instead, you went to the hot springs alone to eat barbecue?"

"Don't even mention it," Shigeru said, looking up at the sky in exasperation. "Life at the camp was rough. Even taking a bath was a hassle, let alone the food."

"Uncle Hokage is the worst. He sent you to the border camp," Kushina added, still sniffling but sounding more stable, shifting her focus to the Third Hokage.

Luckily, the barbecue restaurant was busy, and people were sitting relatively far apart. Kushina's words went unheard, or someone might've raised a fuss or reported it to the police department.

During this time, the Third Hokage was widely regarded as a ninja hero, and his reputation in the village was unusually high.

"Look at you—you've lost weight. You haven't eaten well recently. Look how good this barbecue is... Hey, Naoki, stop eating so fast! It's all gone already!"

Shigeru quickly used Naoki to draw attention and distract Kushina.

"Brother Naoki!" Kushina, who had been crying moments ago, got angry. How could he eat all the barbecue by himself?

Tsunade, who had been eating as well, set down her chopsticks, while Naoki, who had only just picked up a piece of meat, looked bewildered.

"No... This is only my second piece of meat. The rest were eaten by my sister. It has nothing to do with me," Naoki tried to explain, raising his hand to point at Tsunade. But when he did, he noticed her staring at him with a warning look, and he immediately regretted it.

"You're all just bullies, one after another," Naoki thought miserably.

"Alright, Naoki's just hungry. Let's order more meat. I'm hungry too, so let's enjoy the meal," Shigeru said, calming Kushina and signaling the waiter to bring more dishes.

With Shigeru's comforting presence, Tsunade's interruptions, and Naoki attracting attention, Kushina quickly cheered up.

Shigeru shared some amusing stories from the camp as they ate.

"By the way, Naoki's about to graduate soon."

As they chatted, the topic shifted to that.

"Yeah! After my graduation exam, I'll be a real ninja!" Naoki declared proudly, almost standing up and posing dramatically.

"You're still a rookie even after you graduate," Tsunade teased. "Your sister and I graduated from ninja school at age six."

"How can I compare to you?" Naoki shouted back. "Shigeru didn't graduate until he was ten! Why don't you call him a rookie?"

Actually, Naoki wasn't bad at all—his performance was quite good compared to others.

Among the children about to graduate, Naoki was one of the best, apart from his grades in theoretical subjects.

Shigeru watched the sibling squabble with amusement. A smile appeared on Kushina's face, though it was one of playful satisfaction.

"Shigeru," Kushina whispered as Tsunade lectured Naoki, "can I invite some friends to your house tomorrow? I want to treat them to barbecue."

"Of course. I promise you won't be disappointed, my little princess."

"Hehe, Shigeru, you're the best."

"By the way, who do you want to invite?"

"Hmm..." Kushina counted on her fingers. "There's Sister Mikoto, there's that little yellow-haired guy, and oh, Meihui too..."

"Pfft—" Shigeru spat out his tea.

The little yellow-haired guy... was that who he thought it was?

"Is the little yellow-haired guy Minato Namikaze?"

"Yep."

Kushina beamed with pride. "In our class, he's the only one who's really friendly with me. By the way, Meihui's coming too, but she's really quiet. You once said the little yellow-haired guy attracts attention from girls, so I thought it was perfect to call him that!"

Minato Namikaze, even as a child, was a sunny boy with a big smile. His good looks, warm personality, and top-notch grades made him a favorite among the girls.

What a predicament.

I was only describing him, not suggesting you give him that nickname...

But since there was no "little yellow-haired guy" around, and Minato did have blonde hair, he eventually accepted the name from Kushina.

"Shigeru, when Meihui comes over tomorrow, please don't get angry with her, okay? She's really shy," Kushina said, looking up at him with wide, pleading eyes.
