Everything was just a game... from manipulation to deception. Dusken had attacked Ryan and they engaged in an intense, tiring battle. However, that was just the outer layer of a deep sinister plot.
Hidden beneath what was displayed was an underhanded, evil scheme crafted by him. Ryan didn't know one thing about Dusken… which was that instead of one, he was two in essence.
All the weakness shown earlier had been faked by him, to make Ryan overestimate himself. As he drowned in the endless red laser beams, no one - not even Ryan - had noticed a shadow move out of Dusken's form.
During their intense, climatic fight, Dusken had commanded Ebon to hide behind the veil of shadows, waiting patiently to strike at the appropriate timing like a seasoned assassin.
