Keith had learned from experience, to not spend too much money on a woman thanks to his ex wife. But Clara somehow got tangled with Timmy, whom Keith absolutely hated to the core and was also slightly afraid of.
'He won't be too strong right now, but that'll change in the future. Even though Clara did die in the novel, she stalled Clark for enough time so that Timmy could save his people. One person died to save more than fifty awakened... a good trade in any sense possible.
