On the plush sofa, Scott sat comfortably, Brigid fast asleep with her head resting on his lap.

His fingers gently combed through her hair as Gwen sat beside him, her head leaning against his shoulder. Her eyes stayed glued to the broadcast, but every so often, she'd glance at Scott with a faint smile on her lips.
The smell of something savory wafted into the room as Nadia entered, carrying a huge steaming pot of noodles.

She sounded light and cheerful.
