700 power stones =1 bonus chapter
The Aron on the screen was slightly larger than usual, and its typically blue eyes were red and its underside was teal in colour..
"I finally got it," Chris muttered. "All those weeks weren't a waste."
Though it took over two weeks to find a shiny, Chris still felt lucky. At least no other shiny Pokémon had appeared before it.
He took a deep breath. The battle was just starting.
Until it's caught, it's not really a shiny.
(Seriously, how many unlucky people have had a shiny appear, only for it to run away or faint? Not me. I've never encountered a shiny until now, so I've never had to deal with those disasters... suddenly feeling a bit sad.)
Using a regular Poké Ball on Aron wouldn't work—its level was too high. If Chris wanted to properly raise it, he'd use a Premier Ball after capturing it. Since Premier Balls didn't exist in this world, this design was unique to Chris!
The first Great Ball was thrown, but Aron broke free and countered with Tackle.
Chris felt a little relieved. He figured Aron wouldn't use any more self-destructive moves that would make things worse for both sides.
Still, he'd better teach it Spore soon, just in case. You never know—if it had been a shiny Beldum, it might have knocked itself out before being caught.
The second Great Ball was thrown, but Aron almost escaped again, following up with another Tackle.
Finally, with the third Great Ball, after three shakes, the center button flashed red, and it was caught!
"Hu~" Chris exhaled a long sigh of relief.
Every time I encounter a shiny Pokémon, I get so nervous. Even if I don't plan to train it right away, it's still satisfying to store it safely in the PC. But that heart-pounding feeling never goes away. Unless I eventually get so many shinies that it stops exciting me, I don't think that will ever change.
First things first—save the game.
The Great Ball containing the shiny Aron landed softly on the floor.
Chris picked it up and released the Pokémon.
Suddenly, the bright golden Aron appeared before him!
As soon as it hit the ground, Chris heard the sound of the floor cracking.
Aron's four legs were now firmly embedded in the floor, which was shattering inch by inch under its weight.
"Aron~~" Aron cried sweetly, seemingly unaware of the damage it had caused.
Chris's mouth twitched slightly. He had just finished repainting the room seven days ago, and now he'd have to replace the flooring. Was he at Dragon University to study Pokémon breeding or interior decoration?
Still, he couldn't really blame Aron. It had been raised in the wild, and smashing the ground was only natural for it.
But this unexpected strength gave Chris a clue about its Ability.
He quickly checked Aron's stats.
**[Aron (Steel, Rock)]**
**[Level: 16]**
**[Ability: Heavy Metal (doubles the Pokémon's weight)]**
**[IVs: HP (31), Attack (31), Special Attack (27), Defense (31), Special Defense (31), Speed (26)]**
**[Skills: Tackle, Harden, Metal Claw, Rock Tomb, Roar, Headbutt]**
**[Held Item: Hard Stone]**
With IVs in stamina, attack, defense, and special defense maxed out, Chris felt very satisfied. All four key stats were perfect, and even the special attack and speed were both above 25. The Heavy Metal ability was expected but still exciting.
A regular Aron weighs around 120 pounds, but this one, being slightly larger, probably weighed over 150 pounds. With the effect of Heavy Metal, its weight was likely at least 300 pounds. That much weight focused on Aron's small legs made it easy to see why the floor had cracked beneath it.
However, Heavy Metal's impact wasn't just about weight; it also implied increased strength and endurance.
In the wild, an Aron with Heavy Metal would have a hard time surviving without its parents. Born with twice the weight of a normal Aron, it would naturally be slower, which would make finding food harder. And without food, survival would be impossible.
Yet, if such an Aron managed to thrive despite carrying this extra burden, it had to be stronger than its peers. It needed that strength to compensate for its slower speed. As it evolved into Lairon and eventually Aggron, the weight it bore would only increase, and with it, so would its strength.
Chris imagined that if, one day, Aron were to lose the Heavy Metal ability, the strength it would unleash would be terrifying. Freed from the weight, it could become an unstoppable force.
Chris had already decided: this Aron was going to be one of his main Pokémon in the future.
He took the item "Hard Stone" from Aron and grinned. The Hard Stone was a rare treasure among Pokémon items, boosting rock-type moves by 27%. This save alone was worth 14 million!
"Let's celebrate the newest member joining the team!" Chris shouted, tossing out a Pokéblock.
All the Pokémon gathered, including even Smeargle who had just been painting the walls. Makuhita rushed in from the living room, standing on the first floor with her head raised, waiting to be fed by Chris.
Delibird and Togepi, who hadn't gone off to work yet, were drooling as they watched from the window.
Chris beckoned to them, and Togepi instantly dashed over with tiny steps.
"To-ge-pi! (☆▽☆)" Togepi chirped happily.
Delibird, with no choice, took two steps at a time to reach the group and get a Pokéblock too.
After sharing the joy with his Pokémon, Chris picked up his handheld again, equipped Aron with the Exp. Share, and started leveling it up.
