Chapter 1:

Monarch of Shadow vs Demon King of Salvation

Outside the hospital, Sung Jinwoo and Yoo Jung-Hyeok stood face to face, the air between them thick with tension. Beside Sung Jinwoo, the shadows of Bellion, Igris, and Beru hovered menacingly, ready to strike at a moment's notice. Then, a voice cut through the silence...

"The Monarch of Shadows, Sung Jinwoo. The one who ended the war between your world's forces of good and evil. I must thank you for curing me from my eternal slumber. But tell me, why would a deity like you go to such lengths to help me?" The words came from Kim Dokja, who spoke calmly as a screen flickered in front of him.

Kim Dokja's expression flickered briefly with shock, but he masked it quickly. His thoughts churned. Too many skills, all maxed out. What kind of person is this?

Sung Jinwoo's eyes darkened. "You even know my name." His voice was low and threatening, like a predator sizing up its prey. "So you really are the 'Most A****** D*****' the Secretive Plotter warned me about. Knowing too much made you dangerous. I should kill you"

Twin daggers appeared in his hands, their sharp edges gleaming ominously in the dim light. The pressure between them surged, as Jinwoo's aura radiated an unmistakable menace.

Kim Dokja felt the weight of his opponent's presence, like an invisible force crushing down on him.

[Personal skill, 'The Fourth Wall' has been activated.]

The activation of his skill brought a sudden calm to Kim Dokja's mind, as if shielding him from the rising tension.

His brow furrowed in confusion—why was this man, who had saved him from his eternal slumber, now wanted to kill him? There was no immediate logic behind it, no clear motive that he could grasp. It didn't make sense. Sung Jinwoo had gone to great lengths to cure him, only to launch this relentless assault moments later. What had triggered this sudden hostility?

"So you cured me from my eternal sleep just to kill me? How ungrateful."

Sung Jinwoo's gaze narrowed. "I didn't cure you out of kindness," he said, his voice cold as ice.

Before Kim Dokja could respond, Sung Jinwoo vanished in a blur, reappearing in front of him with his daggers flashing toward his throat.

Kim Dokja dodged just in time, the cold air from the missed strike brushing against his skin. It was so close—too close. His heartbeat quickened as a grin spread across his face. "Not bad," he muttered, exhilarated by the near-death experience.

Screens blinked into existence in front of Kim Dokja, showing the incoming path of Sung Jinwoo's next attacks in vivid clarity.

Every move was predicted before it could happen. Kim Dokja moved with precision, evading each strike with practiced ease. Sung Jinwoo's eyes widened slightly in surprise but quickly shifted to amusement as he watched Kim Dokja slip past his blows.

"You're not going all out" Kim Dokja commented, his breathing heavy as he drew his Unbreakable Faith Sword. The black blade shimmered with a dark energy.

[Fable, 'Demon King of Salvation' has begun its storytelling.]

Suddenly, horns sprouted from Kim Dokja's head, and black wings unfurled from his back, casting a massive shadow across the space. His status surged, filling the air with an overpowering force that even Sung Jinwoo could not ignore. As the transformation unfolded, Kim Dokja's voice cut through the thick tension, calm yet laced with power.

"Did you think I would let you do whatever you please in our world?" His eyes gleamed with a dark, otherworldly light as he stretched his wings fully. "I've walked through fables, shattered destinies, and faced the end of the world itself. If you wish to see what a Demon King can do, then brace yourself, Sung Jinwoo—because this is only the beginning."

His voice echoed as the ground beneath him trembled, and the very air seemed to bend under the weight of his immense power.

Sung Jinwoo's expression darkened, his gaze heavy with sorrow and anger. "It's ironic, isn't it? You care so deeply for your own world, yet you're blind to the chaos your actions cause in other worlds."

Sung Jinwoo, now recognizing the immense power in front of him, narrowed his eyes. He could feel it—the raw energy pouring from Kim Dokja, stronger than anything he had anticipated. In his mind, Jinwoo gauged that the man had risen from a Monarch level to something more formidable in an instant.

"I didn't expect this," Sung Jinwoo admitted, his tone more serious. "I can't afford to take you lightly."

Kim Dokja's smirk widened. "Glad you finally noticed."

Kim Dokja activated [Way of the Wind] and [Lightning Transformation], his body crackling with pure-white electricity. In a flash, he became a bolt of light, darting forward and cutting through Sung Jinwoo's arm with precision.

"Argh!" Sung Jinwoo staggered back, gripping his arm as blood spilled from the wound. He's fast. "Even with my speed, I couldn't dodge it."

Kim Dokja, still crackling with lightning, spun his sword skillfully. "Go ahead. I know you can heal."

"Is that all you can do?" Sung Jinwoo growled as his arm rapidly regenerated. "You'll regret letting me off."

Within seconds, Sung Jinwoo's arm was fully healed, as if the injury had never occurred. His smirk returned.

"You underestimated me."

In a flash, Sung Jinwoo disappeared, his Stealth skill activating. The next thing Kim Dokja knew, a sharp pain pierced through his side as one of Jinwoo's daggers found its mark.

Kim Dokja cried out in pain, but almost immediately, his body responded.

[Exclusive skill, 'The Fourth Wall' has been activated.]

Kim Dokja grimaced as he observed thin, tentacle-like nerves reaching out, intertwining to reconnect and repair his arm. The tissue followed, rapidly forming around the structure as the limb regenerated in moments. He flexed his fingers, testing the newly restored body part, still feeling the strange sensation from the rapid recovery.

"Now we're even" Sung Jinwoo remarked, amusement lacing his tone, as he felt a surge of energy coursing through him. He released more of his power, shifting the momentum of the fight firmly in his favor.

Kim Dokja took a deep breath, feeling the intensity of the situation escalate.

Kim Dokja's heart raced as he accessed the skill. His eyes widened in disbelief as he scrolled through the options. A grin crept across his face when he saw it

"Yoo Jung-Hyeok's skill is now listed. Isn't he the protagonist? Or not anymore? Whatever the reason, this is going to be a big help."

In a quick decision, he removed the 'Avatar' skill and added 'Splitting the Sky Energy' activating it with determination.

Suddenly, a massive surge of energy erupted from his sword, illuminating the space around him. The air crackled with power, and he could feel the tides of battle shifting in his favor. He charged at Jinwoo, his blade slashing with newfound intensity, forcing the Shadow Monarch to retreat momentarily.

But just as Kim Dokja gained the upper hand, Sung Jinwoo raised a hand, summoning three shadows to join the fray.

"Come forth!"

Bellion, Beru, and Igris, emerged from his shadow, their forms solidifying and exuding a sense of dread. At the same time, Jinwoo began to prepare to unleash the full extent of his power, which he had kept sealed until now for a long time.

With the shadows flanking him, Kim Dokja knew he had to act quickly. "This isn't over yet" he declared, the gleam of determination in his eyes intensifying as he readied himself for the next phase of the battle.

"That's hardly fair," Kim Dokja muttered, sweat dripping down his face as he engaged in a fierce battle with the 3 shadow army. No matter how many times he cut them down, they regenerated, coming back stronger each time.

Sung Jinwoo, watching the fight unfold, prepared for a final strike. His daggers coated with the power of Ruler's Authority as he dashed toward Kim Dokja for the ultimate blow.

But just as the attack was about to land, a figure in a black coat appeared, blocking Jinwoo's strike with a sword.

"That's enough," Yoo Jung-Hyeok declared, his tone icy as he glared at Sung Jinwoo. "I can't let you finish him off or cause more destruction here. You've already accomplished your mission."

Sung Jinwoo's expression darkened. "You're strong," he said, acknowledging the power of the man in front of him. "Strong enough to block me. But I'm serious. I will kill him."

Before Sung Jinwoo could make another move, several powerful attacks rained down on his shadows. Han Soo-Young, Jeong Hui-Won, and Yi Hyeon-Seong stepped forward, emerging from the chaos.

"Sorry we're late," Han Soo-Young quipped, flipping her hair back. "Those shadows who trapped us inside the hospital sure are tough."

"Are you planning on dying again?" Jeong Hui-Won teased, glancing at Kim Dokja. "We just got you back on your feet."

Sung Jinwoo assessed the situation, his sharp gaze quickly measuring the strength of the newcomers. All of them, they're at least as strong as the Monarchs. And that man in black coat, he's on par with Antares, my strongest opponent. I can't take them all at once.

Suddenly, hundreds of shadow armies surrounded the battlefield, ready to continue the fight.
