Packing for a month-long shoot in the mountains wasn't exactly how I'd envisioned spending my morning, but there I was, neatly folding the last few shirts into my suitcase.
The clock barely hit six, and yet I could already hear Nicole chattering away about her latest "wonderful" date.
I raised an eyebrow, feigning disinterest as I continued to pack, but her voice barely wavered. Apparently, she'd been waiting for a while to tell me every detail.
"…and then, after dinner, she surprised me with tickets to that jazz show I've been wanting to see forever!" Nicole sighed, practically glowing.
"You know, Maya's really something else. She just knows what I like without me even having to say anything."
I gave her a short, half-hearted nod, forcing my attention to stay on the clothes I was folding. "Mm-hmm."
"And, Layla showed up at one point," she added, her voice shifting slightly as if testing my interest.
