But as I looked at the horizon, I saw it too.
A massive sandstorm loomed on the horizon, threatening to engulf everything in its path.
"Oh no."
I said, looking around us frantically.
"What do we do?"
Johnathan asked me, looking around us at the desert.
"We need to find shelter."
Sarah said, looking around us at the dunes of sand.
"But where?"
I asked her, looking around us at the endless expanse of sand.
"There's a small oasis a few miles from here."
She said, looking at me seriously.
"We can try to make it there. But we'll have to move fast."
I nodded in agreement, then looked at Johnathan.
"Let's go."
I said, gesturing towards the oasis.

Johnathan nodded in agreement, then followed Sarah and I across the desert.
As we ran across the sand, I could feel the storm getting closer and closer.
The wind was picking up and the sand was starting to sting my eyes.
I knew we had to move fast if we wanted to survive.
Suddenly, Sarah stopped in front of me and turned around to face me.
"What's wrong?"
I asked her, looking around us at the desert.
"I think I see something."
She said, squinting her eyes at the horizon.
"What is it?"
Johnathan asked her curiously.
"I'm not sure."
She said, shaking her head.
"But it looks like a building."
I looked at the horizon and saw it too - a small building rising out of the sand like an oasis in the desert.

"Let's go."
I said, gesturing towards the building.
Johnathan nodded in agreement, then followed Sarah and I towards the building.
As we approached it, I could see that it was some kind of abandoned gas station or convenience store.
It was surrounded by a small parking lot and had a sign that read "Sam's Stop" in faded letters.
Sarah walked towards the building cautiously, then stopped and looked around us at the desert.
"What's wrong?"
I asked her, looking around us at the parking lot.
"I don't know."
She said, shaking her head.
"It just feels weird."
Johnathan looked at her warily, then looked around us at the desert.
Suddenly, the engines grew louder and I could see a group of black SUVs approaching from the distance.
"Oh no."
I said, looking around us frantically.
"What do we do?"
Johnathan asked me, looking around us at the parking lot.
"We need to get inside."
Sarah said, looking at me seriously.
"But how?"
I asked her, looking around us at the building.
It was surrounded by a chain link fence and had a large metal gate that was locked with a padlock.
"We'll have to find another way in."
She said, looking around us at the fence.
Suddenly, I heard footsteps approaching from behind me.
I turned around and saw a figure emerging from the darkness of the building.
It was a tall man with short brown hair and piercing blue eyes.
He was dressed in a black leather jacket and jeans, and he had a large backpack slung over his shoulder.
He approached us cautiously, then stopped in front of Sarah and looked at her seriously.
"Who are you?"
She asked him warily.
"My name is Max."
He said, smiling slightly.
"I've been watching you from inside. What are you doing out here?"
"We're on the run."
I said, looking at him seriously.
