Chapter 38 - The First Step  

It wasn't until my foot touched concrete that I finally realized why I felt so off since I woke up in the water.

 

"Teddy!" I cried out in panic as I spun around in a circle as if I could find Teddy that way. I was a horrible mother, completely forgetting about Teddy until now. The poor baby was probably scared stupid, alone in the world without me around.

 

How could I have forgotten about him?!?

 

"Hush," soothed Envy as he popped into my mind. "You know Teddy won't leave you so easily."

 

"But he has to be scared," I pouted, crouching down until I was nothing more than a small ball on the side of the road. Ever since I killed Père, things had gone downhill, and now, Teddy was missing.

 

"Everything you want is just a wish away, or did you forget that, Silly girl?" chuckled Envy.
