Chereads / Man of Soul / Chapter 5 - 10 Hours Ago

Chapter 5 - 10 Hours Ago

The man said, "Before I begin, I'm Tom, Tom Dillard."

Everyone except Kayla jumped out of the plane on parachutes. They opened the parachutes when they were far away from the plane.

They landed in the middle of the forest. Tom took out his cell phone and called a contact saved with the name Marcus. The call wasn't picked up for about a minute.

The moment the call was picked up, Tom said, "SOS. Kayla is in danger. The plane is about to crash."

Marcus's said, "She'll handle it. Even if the plane crashes, she won't die. I know that."

Tom wiped the sweat on his forehead and replied, "Sir, but isn't it too much on her?"

Marcus said, "You know what, she is a commander. That too of 1st division. Which means that she's a lot stronger. Her strength is equivalent to that of Mike."

Tom's eyes widened as he said, "No, that can't be. That's just not possible."

Marcus said, "Even if you don't believe, that's the truth. You can ask Mike. I'm sure that you'll get the same answer from Mike."

Tom reported their situation to Marcus. They were in the middle of a forest. Looking at the GPS, they were in the forest near Eternal City, the capital of Marelith, and the place where Morgan lived.

There were 20 people in their group, including Tom. They were resourceless. They were unarmed. The forest was burning, and they were on the verge of being affected by the burn of the forest.

Marcus ordered Tom to go to the Eternal City and meet up with Charles, an officer from the First Division. Tom detested the 1st division, especially Charles.

Tom didn't want to meet with Charles but was reminded of his position and responsibilities. Others were ordered to return to Interpol Island and report.

Tom thought, "Even if it may be an urgent issue, I don't fucking care. I will be late. But, what should I do to waste time? I'll think of it as I go."

Tom wasted as much time as possible. He explored the whole city by taxi and even watched a movie in the hall. When he thought it was too late, he went to the hotel where Charles was supposed to be.

He went inside the hotel and asked the receptionist, "Has a person named Charles just checked it?"

The receptionist replied, "Sorry sir, it is confidential. We can't inform others about our customers."

He took out his ID card and showed it to the receptionist, saying, "Nothing is confidential when an Interpol officer asks you."

The receptionist checked his ID card and returned it to him. The receptionist was an old man. The old man did something on the computer. He said, "Yes sir, someone named Charles has checked in."

"Is Charles an Interpol officer?"

"Yes."

"May I know his room number?"

"He is in Room No. 406."

"Thank you."

Tom went to the lift. The lift was busy. He took the stairs. He reached in front of the room where Charles was.

He knocked on the door. He said, "Charles, it's me, Tom."

Charles said, "Come in. What took you so long?"

Tom said, "Nothing, I was busy. Anyways, tell me, what is the reason I ordered to meet up with you? "

"You have a mission."

"What's it?"

"You have to kidnap someone and make that guy join Interpol."

"What? I don't think that's the work of an Interpol agent. That's what criminals do."

"Under normal circumstances, we would offer him to join. But, he unknowingly picked a fight against Soaring Eagles."

"How? I mean, how would a normal guy even be able to pick a fight with them."

"From the Intel of Cassius, one of the members of that gang was working undercover as a taxi driver."

"Maybe he rode in the taxi of that gang member and argued over the taxi fare."

"He did ride in the taxi of that guy, but the argument began when he got out of the taxi."

"Argument against those criminals is something that no sane person would dare to do. Well, I can't blame him since he must have thought that driver was a normal person."

"Then, that driver grabbed a pipe and was about to kill him, but Cassius saved him."

"Then, why should he be forced to join?"

"Because he has a superpower. His soul can come out of his body."

"Do Cassius know that?"

"He won't. That's because I just got the information from our informer."

"Then, I must hurry. Cassius must be drunk by now. You see, he is under bad influence. I'm working on that, but for now, we must get that guy. He isn't safe."

Beep! Beep! The walkie-talkie of Charles beeped. Charles pulled it from his waist and put it near his ear, holding it with his hand.

He went to a corner of the room. He talked for a while. After a minute, he set his walkie-talkie back at his waist. He wiped his sweat. He returned to Tom.

He said, "Tom, hurry up and go to 26th Street, Eternal - 2, and get Morgan."

"Who's Morgan?"

"The guy who picked a fight against Soaring Eagles. Remember that, and," He took a photo from the table beside him and showed it to Tom.

He continued, "This guy is your target."

"Okay. I'm going. I'll keep Morgan in the basement of the abandoned apartment at 27th Street."

"I'll reach there in a while. Capture that guy with Type-B trap."

"Of course."

"Just don't let him escape."

Tom went out.

Present...

Tom concluded, "And so, I reached the street, knocked you out, and brought you here."

He looked at his wristwatch and said, "I guess it's about time for Charles to come here. Maybe I'll remove your tape."

Tom pulled the tape from Morgan's face. Morgan shouted out, "Ahh!!" He took long, quick, and heavy breaths and looked at Tom with red eyes.

He took a while to calm down. The moment he was able to talk, he shouted out, "Fuck with all this! I don't fucking care of everything you said! What was this torture for?!"

Tom was in a chill mood. But suddenly, he made a fist and stood up with a red face and veins popping on his face, especially his forehead.

He said with unnatural calmness, "What do you think Interpol are, robots? Everyone here pissess me off. Why are gangsters even allowed to join Interpol?

People like Charles and you join Interpol, and other capable and innocent people don't get a chance to work in 1st division. I've been holding this for years and acting like I'm happy with this to sustain my current position but this is enough.

I read your records while you were unconscious. That was when I was pissed off the most. Even in such a case, I managed to control myself.

But now, it's enough! The tape that I applied on your face was because your face was harmed. Someone was about to eat you. I saved you. I'm not trying to take credit but still, you must know, to whom were you swearing"

Morgan couldn't speak. Till a moment ago, he could not speak because of pure rage. But now, some curiosity was mixed with the rage.

Morgan said, "No, you're lying."

Tom shouted back at him, "No, I'm not. Listen well to what happened in your room. I didn't want to tell you this but since you showed this behaviour, I'll have to let you know."
