Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Are You Really Eating Canned Food?

The players in the chatroom were stunned when they saw Ryan's buy request.

It was still freezing outside, and collecting supplies was nearly a death sentence.

So, let alone a can of chicken...

Unlucky players hadn't even seen any food yet!

Although the survival game had only just started three hours ago, players came from various countries, and everyone's situation was different.

Some players had just finished eating before entering the game, so they weren't very hungry yet.

Others had been hungry for a day, suddenly thrown into such a cold environment, and were barely holding on.

After a moment, messages flooded into the chatroom like waves.

[What the hell? There's actually canned chicken?]

[Dude, I don't have electronic components, but I have a lot of materials. Can three metal parts get me one can?]

[Hey, I have a pair of motorcycle gloves. Can I trade them for the canned chicken?]

[Save the can for me. I'll go find the electronic components right away!]

Ryan watched the group chat messages. Electronic components were likely to be rare materials.

Other players hadn't encountered them yet either.

When Ryan was planning the route to open supply crates, he had specifically checked the items in the nearby crates.

But after searching through many supply crates, he still hadn't found any sign of electronic components.

Fortunately, there were thousands of people in the chatroom.

Even if the chances of rare resources spawning were low in the early stages, there was still a chance of encountering them with such a large player base.

Ryan just needed to spread the word.

When someone obtained electronic components, they might think of him right away.

At that moment, skeptical voices appeared in the chatroom.

[Wait, are you guys really believing this?]

[This guy is obviously lying. With so many people in the group, everyone else is finding bread. Why is he the only one with canned chicken?]

[I don't believe it either. If you really have canned chicken, I'll run naked in the snow!]

Ryan chuckled coldly after reading that.

These doubts were all within his expectations, but it wasn't a big deal.

He just needed to prove it simply.

Ryan clicked the camera button on the chatroom panel, he had seen pictures and videos shared in the chat before.

The players' system panels had photo and video recording functions.

He returned to the car and retrieved another unopened can of chicken.

Ryan placed the two cans of chicken side by side and took a photo, sending it to the chatroom.

After sending the photo, Ryan added a comment.

[Ryan: I got lucky, the cans came from a B-grade supply crate. I've already eaten one.]

The naysayers from earlier suddenly vanished.

The other players opened the image.

They looked at the opened can in Ryan's photo, gazing at the golden chicken leg inside, and couldn't help but swallow hard.

[What about that guy who said he would run naked? Hurry up and post a video!]

[Wah, I don't want to gnaw on moss anymore. I want to eat meat...]

[I'm going to look for a B-grade supply crate too.]

[Hey, kid, if you give me that can, I'll give you 100,000 when we get out!]

Ryan browsed through the chatroom messages.

It seemed that his request for electronic components was starting to spread.

The blueprint for the water filter was something he had found in an A-grade supply crate.

Without the blueprint, even if he collected enough parts, it wouldn't be useful.

It was better to trade with those in need for the essential supplies to get through the current crisis.

As it stood, other players didn't seem to have any use for it at the moment.

Just then,

a photo suddenly appeared in the group.

In the photo, there were a pair of long, black stocking-clad legs resting on the passenger seat.

One leg had a lace trim that was slightly indented, suggesting it would feel really nice to touch.

The other leg had the stocking removed, and the crumpled material was draped over the woman's toes.

The woman who sent the photo quickly followed up with a message.

[Hey handsome, can you give me that can? I saw there's video chat in private messages, I can show you something exciting tonight...]

Seeing this, the group members got excited again.

[Hehe, hey beautiful, send us more, those legs look amazing.]

[Can you sell me the stockings? I'll trade you one loaf of bread!]

[I'll throw in an extra bottle of water, give them to me!]

A few weirdos in the chatroom even started arguing over the stockings.

Ryan chuckled softly and shook his head, showing no interest: "Heh, those legs are barely passing in my book."

He had dated plenty of beautiful girls.

After all, he was rich and handsome, so he naturally attracted a lot of women.

Ryan added one last message in the chatroom—

[Ryan: I have plenty of basic survival supplies. If you have electronic components, feel free to DM me to discuss.]

[Ryan: I'm also buying various blueprints, prices are negotiable.]

After posting, Ryan closed the chatroom.

In just that short time, he had received over 20 private messages.

He scanned through them, most were useless.

Many were proposals for trades, but most offered things he didn't need.

Some were just people trying to take advantage, promising all sorts of things when they got out, Ryan deleted those right away.

At that moment, Ryan suddenly received a new message.

Although the item the sender was offering wasn't electronic components,

Ryan was still quite interested.

[Leo: Hello, I have a blueprint for a hunting knife. Do you need it?]

Ryan felt a stir of excitement, a knife was indeed a very important survival tool.

Whether for crafting wooden tools, starting a fire to cook, or defending himself in dangerous situations, a knife could be quite useful.

In this survival game, having a knife on hand was extremely practical.

Ryan replied to the message directly.

[Ryan: I'm interested. What supplies are you looking for in return?]

The other party seemed to be waiting for a response.

Ryan had just sent the message, and he quickly received a reply.

Right now, all Ryan had to trade were bread and water, along with a can of chicken.

He didn't plan to use the remaining items and materials for trading at the moment.

[Leo: Mr. Ryan, I need 2 loaves of bread.]

[Ryan: Are you sure?]

Ryan felt that things wouldn't be so simple, after all, the blueprint was quite valuable.

Only after unlocking it could he use the workbench to craft the item.

Moreover, the blueprint was a one-time use, once someone unlocked it, it would disappear immediately, and the crafting formula would be recorded in the system.

So the blueprint only had trading properties before it was unlocked.

The other party sent two more messages.

[Leo: Haha, you seem quite straightforward, so I'll be blunt...]

[Leo: Besides the bread, I have another request. After you unlock the blueprint, I need you to help me craft a hunting knife.]

Ryan thought for a moment and continued to ask.

[Ryan: What materials are needed to make the hunting knife?]

Since the other party had such a request, it indicated that the hunting knife might be somewhat difficult to craft.

It might require rare materials or special techniques to successfully create it.

Otherwise, this guy named Leo wouldn't easily part with the blueprint.

[Leo: To make one hunting knife, you only need 2 metal materials and 1 piece of wood.]

[Leo: But I've been looking for a long time and still haven't found any metal materials.]

Meanwhile, in another small truck.

In the driver's seat sat a man around 35 years old, and he was Leo.

In front of him, a translucent panel displayed his private chat with Ryan.

Leo's sharp eyes were fixed on the view outside the window.

On the left side of the road, about 150 meters away on the Gobi Desert, there were several large black animals gathering together to keep warm and rest.

The experienced hunter, Leo, immediately recognized them as a small herd of wild buffalo.

If he could kill a buffalo, not only would he obtain plenty of food, but the buffalo's hide could also be dried to make excellent warm clothing.

It was simply a two-for-one deal that could significantly reduce the difficulty of survival in the early stages.

Leo didn't want to miss this opportunity, fearing that if he moved on, he might not be able to find the herd again.

Unfortunately, he hadn't collected any metal materials.

That's why he was placing his hopes on Ryan.

Leo sighed, "I hope Ryan has enough metal materials..."

At that moment, a new message arrived in his private chat interface.

[Ryan: OK, the trade is settled.]
