Kaito scratched the back of his head, his eyes scanning the dimly lit room with faint annoyance. "If only there was a way to get to the roof, I'd have a better line of view, get a sight for where some people are. Would've been great to eliminate a few of them."
"What do you mean eliminate?!" raged Astrid, her voice breaking through the stillness. Her fiery eyes bore into him, her hands trembling. "You just killed two people, not eliminated, killed!"
Kaito raised an eyebrow, his tone flat and unmoved. "Is there a difference you're trying to point out? I don't understand why you emphasized 'killed'."
Isamu placed a steady hand on Astrid's shoulder, the gesture firm but gentle. She turned to him, her expression a mixture of disbelief and hurt. He shook his head slowly. "He's right. In the grand scheme of things, killing twenty people is probably saving a lot more. It's either them or us."
