Chapter 167 - Chapter 166- Doomed

Alpha Trent's POV.

I shouldn't let my father's words get to me,he has always had ways of influencing but not in this situation.

I wasn't going to allow myself to be swayed by mere words of the past, Zeigler wasn't Eva and even if they were related;Eva was completely different from others.

There was something special about her and I doubted that it was simply her beauty. I just feel that there is something unique but I couldn't place my hand on it.

I caressed her cheeks with my hands and she smiled more beautifully.

"So, what did your father say?" She inquired, masking her worry and anxiety.

"He didn't say anything important, he just complained about the insults you gave him but said nothing other than that" I partially told the truth.

There was no reason for me to escalate the matter and tell her how bad her father was, which might not even be true.

"Why do I feel like you aren't telling the truth?" Eva muttered sensing that I was lying.

"I am telling the truth," I said.

"No, you aren't because anytime you lie. you always have a really serious face" Eva argued and demonstrated my look.

I chuckled loudly as I watched her demonstration, she looked so hilarious and beautiful.

"That's not the kind of face I make, ha ha"

Eva laughed but questioned again. "What did he really say?, I am sure it's nothing good" She rolled her eyes.

"You got that right" I nodded.

"But who cares what he thinks about you, the important thing is that I am the Alpha and I dictate each and every thing that happens in my pack" I said .

No one had the right to send Eva away especially now when he felt this way for her.

"You are the best Alpha in the whole wide world" She acclaimed.

My cheeks had a tint of red when she said it. It meant a lot to me that she thought of me like that.

"I am not the best, there are other Alphas who do better" I opposed.

"Well, I don't know those Alphas but I know you and that is enough for me" Eva smiled; "I appreciate everything you have done for me, I will always be indebted to you"

She was staring into my eyes and I could see her sincerity but did she just feel grateful to me and nothing more.

'Does she feel anything for me at all?' I thought doubtfully.

"You shouldn't be indebted to me in any way, I did it because…" I trailed off.

She just escaped abuse, I didn't want her to feel suffocated by speaking to her about the feelings of either my wolf or I.

"Because…"

"Because I wasn't able to bear the torture I saw you going through at that time. I love seeing that smile on your face, it makes you prettier" I finished my sentence and a faint blush appeared on her cheeks.

She always blushed at my words, that should mean something.

"My mother came back from a trip with her cousins and she would love to meet you" I said with a little smile.

Her eyes widened in surprise. She was probably surprised by the fact that Luna wanted to visit her.

"Why are you so flabbergasted?" I inquired.

"I'm a bit surprised, I thought that your mother was gone" She waved her hands.

"Gone?"

"I mean dead" Eva clarified and shock overwhelmed me.

"The moon goddess forbids it, why would you presume my mother dead?" I exclaimed.

She giggled a bit; "I would never wish anyone harm, it's just that your father was a bit grumpy;therefore I assumed that he must be a widower"

"I have heard that widowers are always grumpy and bitter," She added.

My palms covered my face in frustration, relief, surprise and amusement. The more time I spent with her, the more I learned how crazy of a fellow she was.

A laugh unintentionally escaped my lips. I was upset when she said my mother was deceased but the rest of her words made every anger I had, disappear into thin air.

Laughter has never been a constant exercise for me. I always had this exaggerated serious face especially when performing my Alpha duties but each moment I spent with her was always filled with joy and laughter.

I loved spending time with her but was it a simultaneous feeling?

The door flung open and mother sauntered in.

"My dear" Mother said in a motherly tone and pressed forward to Eva.

"Good d…day,Luna," Eva bowed slightly.

"Oh dear, there is no need for the formalities;you can just call me Hannah," Mother said to her.

My mouth fell open when mother said that, I didn't expect her to say that. I was at least happy that mother was on Eva's side.

"I can't do that, you are my Luna and I am to accord you the respect that you deserve" Eva refused.

"Dear, how could they do this to you?" Mother muttered sadly and touched her face.

Eva shook her head "It's over now and it's all because of your son"

Mother was flattered by my appraisal.

"You are the best son that I ever had," Mother said lovingly and came to embrace me.

"Thank you, mother" I embraced her back and winked at Eva.

*****

Eva joined us for dinner. Serena and father were absolutely not happy about it but they said nothing.

Eva was eating with both hands at such a fast rate. She was eating like her life depended on it. She must have been deprived of food numerous times before.

My hand clenched tightly on my spoon. The day I set my eyes on Liam again, I will tear him apart.

"Slowdown, Eva," Kyle chuckled.

Kyle had always joined us for dinner, we became his only family since his father died.

"Thank you" Eva muttered but suddenly choked on her food.

She began coughing. I was about to get a glass of water but Kyle was faster than me.

He gave her water and slowly rubbed his hand on her back, his fingers were diverting to the side of her ribs and he was slowly caressing it
