Alpha Trent's POV.
The very instant I saw my father, I knew that there would be trouble.
Father stepped forward to her and in fear, Eva rolled her wheelchair behind me.
"What is she still doing here?, I thought that I had warned Kyle to get rid of this peasant!" Father thundered and I sighed in exasperation.
I narrowly escaped the disaster of either poisoning Eva or setting the house on fire with my terrible cooking and now I had entered another set of troubles.
"Father, no one is getting rid of anyone"I said with my head stretched forth to prevent him from coming any closer.
" What did you mean by that?;not because you are the Alpha now means that you have the right to lose respect for me. I am still your father and I was once the Alpha!" Father yelled with authority.
It wasn't my intention to defy him but I wasn't going to permit anyone to hurt Eva, not even my father. She had been through a lot and she deserved some peace.
"Father, I mean not disrespect you but this can be talked over without any violence" I said to him but he didn't seem moved or perturbed by my words.
"Son, I don't really care what you have to say in her defense but she is leaving the pack whether you like it or not!" Father commanded.
I turned back to stare at Eva and she looked scared and disturbed.
Father stepped forward but I clogged his path.
" This little brat here insulted me and belittled me in front of everyone "
" That's a lie Alpha Trent, I never insulted him or downgraded him;I simply teased him a bit but he took every word I said to heart and even tried to slap me" Eva shot back making my father more infuriated.
But thankfully I was in the way.
"You tried to hit her?" I gasped.
Father had never been a violent person, so I wondered why he would try to hurt her if she simply teased him.
Well, though Father was not an aggressive person ;He commanded respect from everyone in fact he instilled fear in people but I think Eva proved him wrong that not everyone was afraid of him.
A chuckle escaped my lips when I came to that conclusion.
"Are you mocking me, Trent?" Father flared up.
"No father but you are scaring her" I cautioned and made him move away from her.
"She insulted your father and all you have to do is defend her because she's pretty" He frowned heavily.
When he said she was pretty, I smiled because her beauty was one that could not be hidden no matter the bruises or injuries acquired.
And yes I was defending her because she was my mate and she was beautiful.
"I don't know what you did to my son but whatever your voodoo has done to him, it won't last as long as I live!" He spat and stormed out of the kitchen.
I palmed my face and let out a sigh.
I slowly turned to Eva who was pouting her lips like an angry pup.
" He really hates me "She muttered and I couldn't disagree more with her.
I bent down to her level and placed my hands on her thighs.
" I am going to talk to him and you are not leaving for anything in this world. You are staying here with me like I promised and you are part of my pack not even my father can alter that" I reassured her.
I held her hands that were a bit rough maybe from all the work and stress but I couldn't deny the softness as well.
"I will protect you" I smiled and kissed her hands.
Her cheeks slowly flushed and she smiled at me.

I walked into father's sturdy and he was seated at his usual spot with an annoyed and angry look on his face.
During the period when I was receiving training, he was only this angry when I would miss the basic steps he had taught me or when mother would always support me and scold him for being too hard on me.
"If you are here to plead on her behalf then just make use of the door behind you" He glared at me and pointed at the door with his index finger.
"Father" I called affectionately and went to sit in front of him.
"Son," He replied in a sarcastic tone.
"She is just eighteen, she's a child to you and she has experienced a hard life"
"Well life should have been harder for her because I think it forgot to teach her any manners" He fired back; "You can't imagine the words that she said to me, I have never met someone so manner less"
I asked him to explain word for word, everything that she told him that day and at the end couldn't find a single sentence that sounded like an affront.
"Where did you even bring that stupid thing from?"
"Stop using those heavy and abusive words on her, she used to be really mistreated in her former pack and probably it caused her to be on the defensive side" I explained.
"All those bruises on her body were inflicted by people from her former pack but now that I brought her here, at least she would be able to have some tranquility and rest of mind…" I paused to let my words sink in.
"You have always taught me that a show of kindness was to all who were once…"
"failed" He completed and let out a sigh.
I knew by his expression that I had finally gotten him to drop his grudges.
"Fine, I understand you but what pack did she belong to or is she a rogue?"
"No father, she is not a rogue and she belonged to one of the packs ruled by Alpha Liam '' I replied.
"Her name is Eva and she was orphaned at a young age and she is also the daughter of the late Alpha Zeigler" I added.
"Alpha who?!" Father exclaimed.
"Alpha Zeigler" I repeated.
"She is the daughter of my mortal enemy, she is definitely not staying here!!!" He yelled in anger.
