Synopsis
~It was the way her eyes cried without shedding a tear. Never in my life had I encountered something so sad hidden under the resentment of a jealous house cat... What a treasure~ A queens mistake often becomes the child's burden. So when the mother is found having an affair with a witches husband, she finds herself with a bastard that looks enough like her to convince the king it was his. Yet this unfortunate spawn did not come into the world without consequence. On his 24th birthday it is revealed he has 365 days to break a curse he believes he was born with for no reason, not knowing it was his mother's actions that led him to such a short life span. In a tizzy, the king was ready to risk it all for 'his' son. So when another imprisoned king speaks of his daughter who could heal all, he opened the door to 2 bastards finding solace in all wrongs. Though their affairs were temporary, the happiness was all it took to make a turn around. COMP THEME: The king was a ticking timebomb. In just a week's time, he would be celebrating his twenty-fourth birthday and unfortunately, it had been foretold that he would die before turning twenty-five. FL was mistreated by her aristocratic family due to the fact that she was born out of wedlock to a maid. She had never seen the outside world until one day, her father was sentenced to death for treason, and she was brought to the palace as a bargaining chip. Her father had apparently claimed she had the ability to ease illnesses and break curses all by the power of her voice―only FL knew that was the furthest from the truth. If she couldn't save the king, she would be punished in place for her father's crimes. However, things change when the king slowly begins to fall in love with her 'magical' song...

Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

History might not repeat itself, but it sure does rhyme...

So when an ignorant human laid up with the man I designated the rest of my life to, I thought it would be kind to teach these arrogant beings how to control their emotions once and for all. So I gave her infertile self a gift. A gift that has 24 years and 364 days before he realizes his whole life was nothing but a lie. Oh, how fun it is to watch such small things ruin the lives of mortals. It makes me giggle as if I were young and naive again. That poor poor prince born to the whore of a queen.

Why my mother was so mad at the scumbag who couldn't pull out is beyond me. It was baffling to think she truly believed the king would fall for nothing more than a measly maid as if she wasn't an extension of his sexual addiction. The second I was out of the womb I knew he had no love for anything or anyone other than himself, it was quite laughable even for a little girl.

"Mom," I have no experience with men whatsoever but even without a father in my life and not a mother either, I somehow had the intuition not even the best seers could match. It wasn't visions that I got, more of the fact people are so predictable and it was pronounced that humans are creatures of patterns.

"What do you want, Vermin? You've been a nuisance since you implanted yourself in my womb and yet I still have to tolerate your voice and listen to you beg me for more?" I sneer before mocking her slightly, earning myself a closed fist to the face, knocking me against the wall, "And now you mock me? Interesting," ~If you're so good at seeing the future why did you not dodge it?~ because if you knew my mother, you know she never misses the chance to have a reason to disfigure you. But there was a rumor I had heard that made a little too much sense to ignore. Something we needed to be aware of.

"Dad is on his way," I rub the sore spot on my face before blacking out. It seems speaking of the deadbeat was enough disrespect for her to give it to me with a pot she used to make us dinner for the night…

What a waste of life living here.

The way my knees ache almost made me pity my wife who limped everywhere she went. Moist bricks did not seem to do the body well.

"You have approximately 3 days before I get to shove your face into the dried blood of the guillotine, how does that feel?" I listen to the hearty laugh permeate the walls of a hell hole I didn't think I would end up in. I got sloppy again.

"Feels like you will have to watch your son die before you... Only I know where my daughter is," I crane my neck up to meet the gray eyes that can't seem to see me. The blind fuck didn't have a clue about the power I held in such words.

"I don't need your little misfit to help my son. We will figure it out and possibly use you to help maybe find a cure," another hearty laugh, reminding me I didn't have much time to put my foot through this door.

"My little misfit might not fully belong to my marriage, but she does fully belong to the few who have the ability to break curses," the quiet came rather quickly as he looked in my direction (best he could of course).

"Novara has powers? You kept this little gem away for what?"

He reaches down, feeling around before grabbing my neck. The damn royal was blind yet he somehow had a knack for finding all the right spots to kill someone so easily. I almost envied the man.

"D-don't worry about the things I do with the specimen. You give me your grace, and exempt me from this execution then you can have the cure for your son," I lean into his grip, fully preparing to leave this world right then and there. Matter of fact I was rather excited. Executed by another king is such a glorious way to go.

"I will contemplate your offer. On the third day, I will consider the possibility of letting you live," I shake my head only taking in enough air for me to speak.

"Or you could let me live and I could tell you things about your wife you wouldn't know either, have you ever, I don't know, questioned his legitimac-," the cold steel burned, adding a nice gash to my face. Something was soothing about the way blood tickled my cheek, giving the pain a chance to set in and ache.

"You will say nothing about my wife, we have no problems and I trust her with every bone in my body. You will go to your kingdom and bring me your pet, only when my son loses the mark of such a beast is when you will be free to live. Am I understood," as much as I tried to control my expressions, the attempts failed to be rather useless. The grin begged to be seen by the ignorant fool who thought 2 humans could ever create something more than another human, but what did he know?

"Your words are as clear as day my liege, happy birthday to you and maybe a few more for your son," another slash, mimicking the one on my right and marking me with 2 distinct features that would make it a little too obvious if they came to hunt me down. What an unfortunate way to go about my reign, at least now we have a future to look forward to.

One less chain link and I was off. Not in my usual noble carriage but this wasn't as important now, she couldn't know I was coming, I had to lead them to her so we could grab the thing without a fight. I was going to take my freedom at any cost, and if someone was going to die I am taking them with me.

Let's hope she pulls through a second time...
