With the coins now in Yazar possession, Yazar feel slightly more secure in his immediate future.
Yazar looks to the sky the sun shines in the middle of the sky. Yazar decide to seek employment befitting his skills as a fighter, he weave through the bustling market. The air is filled with a cacophony of sounds vendors calling out to potential customers, urchins playing in the mud on the streets, and the occasional whistle of a town guard on patrol.
Yazar makes his way toward the town's central notice board, a wooden structure plastered with various parchment announcements and job postings. Many of the messages are mundane requests for farmhands, seamstresses, and stable workers. However, among the clutter, only one notice catches his eye.
An posting from a nearby farmer who claims that some wild beast has been attacking livestock at night. The farmer seeks someone to eliminate the threat and offers a modest payment and a supply of fresh produce in return.
After looking over the other choices Yazar decides to help the farmer, Yazar carefully remove the notice from the board. It's a simple piece of parchment scrawled with:
"Help needed! Wild beast attacking livestock. Reward offered. Farmer Jol and family."
The directions are straightforward, leading Yazar to a small farm just outside Wolfpine. As he leaves the bustling market and out the town's gate, the path gradually becomes quieter, surrounded by the natural beauty of the countryside. The fresh air invigorates him as he makes his way to the farm.
Once Yazar arrives, a hardy-looking man waves him over. He's middle-aged, with sun-weathered skin and calloused hands a testament to a life of labor. "You must be here about the beast," he greets Yazar, extending a hand. "I'm Jol. We appreciate any help we can get. That beast has been making off with our sheep in the dark of the night."
Jol explains that the attacks have been happening sporadically over the last week, always under the cover of darkness. Jol has try to hunt the beast himself to no success. He offers Yazar food, a place to rest until nightfall, and a modest payment of several copper once the threat has been handled.
Accepting Jol's offer of hospitality, Yazar spend the afternoon observing the farm and familiarizing himself with the area where the attacks have occurred. The pasture, bordered by dense woodland, provides ample cover for any lurking predators.
Jol's family, consisting of his wife and two young children, go about their daily routines, occasionally casting hopeful glances in his direction. Yazar dined with them, sharing a simple but hearty meal stewed vegetables with chunks of tender meat with fresh baked bread Yazar enjoying a brief respite from his worries.
As dusk falls and the night air cools, the farmstead grows quiet. The cicadas call from the shadows, and a gentle breeze stirs the grass. Yazar settle in near the pasture, his senses attuned to any movement or unusual sound.
In the dim light, Yazar's ears catch a low growl from the treeline followed by the rustling of branches. A shadowy figure moves within the cover of the trees, illuminated momentarily by the moonlight a beast, low to the ground, prowling closer.
With resolve, Yazar draws his long sword and approaches the edge of the pasture, his eyes locked onto the beast moving within the trees. As he stride forward, Yazar make an effort to identify the creature before him.
As Yazar got closer, the beast emerges from the shadows a lean, snarling wolf with glowing eyes fixed on Yazar. It pauses, assessing this new threat that stands between it and its prey.
Yazar seizes the initiative, while the wolf's attention still split between him and the tempting livestock nearby.
With precision born from years of training, Yazar lunges forward to strike the wolf with his longsword. Yazar's blade arcs through the night, slashing into the wolf's left flank with a powerful blow. The beast yelps, wounded but still aggressive.
The longsword cut deep, leaving a visible gash in the wolf's left side and fowl smelling blood stains its fur. It growls, now focusing entirely on Yazar, instincts driven by pain and desperation. The wolf, hurt but determined, lunges at Yazar in retaliation, its jaws snapping towards his arm.
The wolf's attack is swift, but with Yazar's quick reflexes, Yazar manage to sidestep the wolfs jaws, evading harm. The night is now alight with tension.
Yazar resolve remains unshaken as he swiftly maneuver his longsword to strike at the wolf again. The night air parts sharply as his blade moves through it. The attack finds its mark once more, cutting through the air with practiced precision. The wolf whimpers again as the blade slices into its right side.
With another deep strike, Yazar inflicts significant pain on the beast. Bleeding and battered, the wolf staggers back, its resolve faltering. It seems to reconsider its odds against Yaar amidst the darkness and the threat to its life.
The wolf hesitates, a mix of fear and survival instincts playing in its glowing eyes. It might retreat or go for one last desperate attack.
With resolute determination, Yazar press his advantage before the beast could move, darting forward with his longsword to deliver the decisive blow. The wolf has no chance to avoid Yazar's strike with its wounds as the sword finds its mark.
With a powerful swing, Yazar longsword cleaves into the wolf's neck. The beast lets out a final pained cry before collapsing to the ground, motionless.
The threat to Jol's livestock has be eliminated, and the night falls quiet, save for the distant rustle of leaves and calls of nocturnal creatures. Standing over the fallen creature, a sense of accomplishment fills Yazar, knowing he made the farm safe once again.
Jol, who had been woken up in the commotion and watched from a safe distance, approaches cautiously, gratitude evident in his eyes. "You've saved us," he says, his voice warm and sincere. "I can't thank you enough. Please, let us offer you shelter for the night and a hearty meal in the morning"
Yazar gratefully accept the Jol's offer, feeling the toll of the battle begin to weigh on his limbs. Jol leads Yazar back to his homestead, where his family waits, visibly relieved at Yazar successful endeavor. As Yazar step inside their cozy home, the warmth from the hearth washes over him, dispelling the chill of the night air.
Jol's wife presents Yazar with a bowl of warmed stew, fragrant still and hearty, alongside baked bread from this morning. The meal is simple yet comforting, each bite a reminder of the grateful hospitality extended by these farmers. After sharing the story of the wolf over the meal, Yazar finds solace in their company a temporary respite from his journey.
Jol shows him to a modest bed in their guest room, where he find a moment of peace with the promise of rest. Laying down, the weight of Yazar journey eases slightly as his eyes grow heavy and sleep overtakes him.
