Chapter 27: A Way Out
Kiyoshi's POV.
"Ah… Shit…"
My whole body hurts. It hurt so much I just layed on the floor while I heard people cheering.
What were they cheering for? I have no idea, but I feel a little bit relieved to know we didn't fuck it up.
"Ah… My head…"
I heard Hana nearby, so I finally opened my eyes…
And in front of me, almost touching my nose, was Medusa. To be more specific, a familiar pair of boxers, yet the pression and movement made Medusa stand out pretty clearly.
As I looked for a way out, I felt something soft slightly touch my eryngii. Hana's chest pressed my lower parts as she tried to get up.
"H-Hana-san, Don't move!"
"W-What? Why?"
"J-Just please, stay still as I find a way out of here…"
"Y-You're scaring me a little… Is everything okay? I can't see anything"
"I-It will all be okay, j-just don't move" I tried to contain it, but this situation actually scared me a little bit too, not only for us getting hurt, but by Hana-san getting angry at me for this…
And just as I was about to move, she started moving her hand.
"W-Wait, d-don't!-"
"What's this?" She tried to get up while trying to test ground, accidentally pressing my nuts with all her force.
And as I thought, Hana strength was nothing but immense, I almost screamed at the sheer pain I felt. But I quickly pushed her off me, sending her to my side.
"What the fuck's wrong with you? Agh…"
"S-Sorry but you were-" As I was about to explain myself, I looked at Hana's horrified face.
"A-Ah…"
I opened my eyes to see half the tower on top of us, some big metal bars laying in front of us… Spiky ones.
If Hana had gotten up, she could have hurted herself badly, god bless I moved her just in time…
"L-Let's get out of here"
"S-Sure"
The two of us made our ways out of the stage.

"Ouch… Please be gentle, Gakuto"
"S-Sorry, Kiyoshi-dono, but we should put ice on every bruise you have just in case. H-How was Hana-dono?"
"Hmm? She was alright I think… The others? what about them?"
"W-Well, except for Mitsuko-dono, everyone else managed to get out without a scratch… If you ask, she's sleeping in the ASC's office"
"I-I see… And what about the parents and the visitors? Did they leave?"
He got quiet for a second, then a slight smile appeared on his face.
"To yours truly's surprise, everyone thought it was part of the show so… It went perfectly smooth"
"..." My face just couldn't help getting a cheeky smile… "Does this mean…"
"Yes… The summer trip was secured… The WTC is officially happening"

We won.
I layed on bed simply smiling, the pain from the fall from the tower disappeared, and it felt like every single bad thing that happened to me vanished for an instant… Tears formed on my face.
"Gakuto… Thank you… If it wasn't for your plans… This couldn't have happened"
"Please, Kiyoshi-dono, it was yours and everyone else's help that managed to make our dream true… We have done it, my brother" He blushed with tears forming on his eyes too.
"So uhm… Where's everyone else?"
"Oh… Well, everyones enjoying the rest of the festival so…"
"I-I see… You should go too, right? Go check out how Mitsuko's doing"
"Sure, you rest, Kiyoshi-dono, you earned it!"
As he closed the door behind me, I rested in the nurse's office alone. Some bruises laying on my arms, as well as the cuts from the store a few days ago…
I felt something I haven't felt in a long time… Lonely.
I watched through the windows to see many girls grouped together with their friends. It reminded me of the guys. Yeah, they are the best buds I could ask for, but they have their lives too…
Then I saw some other girls with their 'boyfriends'. Now that the USC has pretty much given up on the 'no male contact' rule, a few girls have started dating men outside school, so today was the perfect day to see them… And here I am… Alone…
*Knock Knock*
"Sorry to interrupt… Kiyoshi-kun!"
The one who opened the door was no one else but an angel herself. Chiyo stood in front of me, a worried face looking at me.
"C-Chiyo-chan… Hey"
"Oh god! I didn't know you got hurt this badly! Is the ice working?"
"E-Eh? Yeah… A bit of rest will make the pain go away for sure, don't worry, I can be tough from time to time!" I tried making a strong face but to be honest, it hurt as hell.
"Ah… I'm glad then…"

D-Did she… see that?
I'm scared of her thinking I wanted to kiss Hana-san… I didn't even know what to do right then…
After a quick nap, I managed to see the rest of the script. Apparently, a kiss was planned for the two of us, but I never managed to read it, and my stupidity made me accept it without knowing about it.
S-So… Did she see it?
"Chiyo-chan… About the play's ending…"
"Oh… Right…" Her face got a bit sad. She stopped looking at my face. "H-How was it…"
"W-What?"
"W-Well, I couldn't stand it and had to leave just near the end…"
S-Shit… was it that terrible for her that she actually had to leave?...
Well, yeah, of course it was, after everything she went through…
"S-Sorry… I truly didn't know and… It's my fault…"
"No, don't say that… It's not your fault, I was the one who got like this, it was something you can't control, it was already announced and I… Just wasn't ready for it, I guess…"
"Y-You knew about it?"
"Of course I knew… I had a feeling about it…"
F-Fuck… If I had known…
"So, Kiyoshi… Did you enjoy it?"
"B-But I didn't manage to do it"
"W-What? Really? I thought you did! The other told me you did!"
What the hell did those bastards tell her?! I'm going to kill them once I get out of this room!
"O-Of course, I couldn't do something like that!"
"W-Well… I guess you wouldn't… But… I would"

"W-What?"
"I would… without a doubt…"
"... Y-You… Really?"
She nodded with a blushing face, looking at me straight into the eyes.
"Would you mind if I actually do it?"
"W-What? Now?!"
"Yeah… If you let me, of course"
"I-I, ah-... S-Sure"
This wasn't what I expected as my first kiss with Chiyo but… If this is how things have to go… I won't fight it…
"If you excuse me…" She suddenly grabbed the ice from my hand and legs and puts it on her face.
"..."
"Ah~... Finally something cool…"
"W-What?"
"Thanks… I really wanted to get myself covered in ice… I understand that you maybe can't handle this like me but I was dying out there…"
"O-Oh, really?"
"Yeah, that's why I left… I almost died of a heat stroke, inside such a big crowd you couldn't really breath. Sorry to not being able to see the ending"
"A-Ah… It's okay, don't worry about it!"
Ah… So she didn't know… Still, did things have to go like that? I'm scared to actually tell her the truth…
And to admit I almost kissed Hana-san… Again…

Hana's POV:
05:15 PM
"Is your arm okay?"
"Y-Yeah, I just got worried about my head… And I hate the fact that the dress got torn up…"
"Please, worry about yourself a bit more, Hana-san" Meiko cleared my forehead with a towel. Kinda ironic coming from her, but I'm glad to know she's worried.
"Well… At least it went well, not one got really hurt and we got what we wanted… I'm still going to kill Mitsuko after this"
"Ah… It was an accident, please don't take it on her"
"... I know… I won't"
"Please rest for a bit, don't worry about the cafe, I'll take care of it, if you want to, you can go to your room to sleep, alright?"
"Yeah… Thanks Meiko"
She smiled at me and went outside, leaving me alone in the USC's office.
I guess, there's nothing for me to do now, just go rest a bit on my bed…
Before I left, I found myself looking at a small portrait of the last student council. Mari, Meiko and I smiled towards the camera.
"Ah… I'd love to take a picture like this again…"
"Then, take one once we are on the beach, would you?"
As I looked toward the voice, a familiar redhead smiled towards me.
"Hey… How's it going, Kate?"
"Well… It's going well, I'm happy to tell you that this festival was a success…"
"Yeah?... Then all this bruises where worth it"
"They sure were…"
"..."
"Sorry… At the end I wasn't able to help you"
"Hmm? Help you with what?"
"You know… Getting your kiss"
For a second, I stopped thinking, feeling my face turn red slightly.
"W-W-What did you say?"
"Well… I tried to arrange a kiss for you two but… It went wrong, so… I'm sorry" She said while slowly bowing.
"Y-You did it?! W-Why would you-" A memory went through my head, that time when I left my phone in the council office and I thought she saw my photos…
"B-But don't worry! You can still kiss him once we are on the beach! I'm cheering for you two!"
"I-I have to go now, I really need to rest" I tried to hide my face, but the red started covering it.
"S-Sure… Sorry Hana, I'll compensate you"

On my way back to my room, I felt my chest slightly tighten.
The words that came out of Kate's mouth made my heart pound… Even if I don't know why…
And when I thought nothing could go worse…
"Oh, Hana-san~"
An old man appeared in front of me. The same old man that paid to have a talk with me in the cafe.
"M-Mr. Fujino-san… I thought you would have go home after the play"
"I would but, my wife insisted in asking me to stay"
"Pff… Such an obedient man"
"What can I tell you, it runs on the blood"

This old geezer… At least he treats me well, but I can't feel anything but a slight anxiety when I'm near him… It's Kiyoshi's dad for god's sake…
"So… Are you here to tell me something"
"Yes… I'm here to help you"
"Help me? With what?" I asked with a questioning gaze.
"Next August 10, while you all go on your summer trip…It's Kiyoshi's birthday, you know?"
"E-Eh?... I-I didn't know really…"
"Don't worry, he always was pretty evasive towards that… But I'm his father, so I at least know something about him…"
"A-And what are you going to help me with?"
He smiled at me with a cheeky smile.
"Well… What else could it be?" He paused. "A birthday gift, that is…"

Chiyo's POV:
05:30 PM
"Are you sure about this, Chiyo-chan?"
"Yes! Don't worry! I can clean this, you go rest for a bit"
"T-Then, see you later!"
"Bye!"
Because most people who worked at the festival were tired, I decided to stay and help clean the cafe. Not many people volunteered, so I thought I should join in and help.
After all, I spent most of the day playing Go and talking to Mayumi's fans. I should help a little.
I have to say. It was a fun day anyways, I got to play with many people and meet many students from other schools…
And the best thing is that… I met Kiyoshi's mom!
I have to say… She's not like I expected her to be… But now I think I understand Kiyoshi a bit more… Or why he's so kind to women, at least.
I hope I get the chance to see her one more time though… I'd like to thank her for-
"Ah, Chiyo-chan!"
And without realizing it, my wish came true.
"Ms. Fujino! You're here! Haven't you left yet?"
"Nope, I wanted to see how the school was doing, just a bit longer"
"And your husband?"
"Ah, that asshole… He said he had to say something to someone, I hope he's not talking about butts with your father…"
"A-Ah… I hope he's not"
Still, I'm glad I had the chance to see her. Now I'll be able to thank her for having so much fun in a single day.
"By the way, Chiyo-chan, there's something I wanted to talk to you about"
"Me too, Ms. Fujino-san"
"Hmm?"
"Well, I wanted to thank you, for talking to me and making me realise some stuff I wouldn't be able to without your help"
"Hmm…" She patted my head with a smile. "You're such a kind soul… But I'm the one who shall thank you… You were the one who made this old pretty lady have some fun… Not to mention you're taking care of my dumb son"
"Hehe, he's taking care of me too!"
The two of us giggled… And after a few quick words, she suddenly told me something important.
"Chiyo-chan, you know about Kiyoshi's birthday, right?"
"Ah! N-No, I'm sorry, I remember it being in summer but that's it"
"Yes, next August 10, to be exact" She looked a bit sad and angry at the same time. "This will be his first birthday without his parents. So… I wanted to give him something good as a present, but I won't be able to see him due to your trip"
"I see…" I didn't know she cared that much about him, especially on his birthday.
"So… I'm going to help you, Chiyo-chan"
"H-Help me?"
"Yes… Help you get him the perfect birthday… One so good he won't have any option but to fall in love with you"
"... O-Oh…"
