'Looks like I pulled it off, somehow…'
Within a mansion's confines, only a man's thoughts echoed in his head.
The antique, yet lonely violet halls isolated the insides of the castle from the ongoing hell on earth from the outside world. Only the human's footsteps resounded across that particular sector.
There was nothing else to worry about.
Besides the abnormal lack of demons, or any living beings, in the residence. He gave it some thought, only to remember seeing "Enforcers" emerging out of the mansion.
'If the figure of a Demon King, or Queen, is as authoritarian as I think it is… Hm, it is possible.'
He had no choice but to continue wandering around the halls, while entering the rooms whose doors were open.
The fourth one seemed to catch his attention, given the lack of distinctive furniture.
It had a wardrobe, a bed, and a table, all resembling those of Earth, yes. But… "It's genuinely strange."
His eyes fell on the sunset-like sheets of the bed… To be specific, the book resting on top of them.
'"Marlena's Diary! (Jackie, do not open it!)"... What a unique title. I'm sure this will have some interesting stuff.'
He started reading the pages, out loud.
"Seventh day of Cindlon, Year 457: In this fifth month, during this fall, I confirmed it… The rumors must be true. The god forsaken Apostles must have gone insane! How can they keep this WRETCH of a Queen, for almost a decade in the Throne? She should have been replaced since her stupid accident started a MOTHERFUCKING war, for fucks sake!"
Interested in the book's contents, he went all the way back to the beginning. Only to read the book while exploring the dungeon.
"Fifteenth of Octobre, Year 450: Queen Violet had a meeting with the Human Monarchs and their wives… She tripped, and ended up doing something highly inappropriate to Queen Mayenla, Maximilianus Orwell's wife… In other words, the wife of Fegendale's Monarch. She broke down in tears a few times while telling us about it."
He flipped a few pages ahead.
"Fourth of Unrell, Year 451: The Queen had a reunion with the Head Apostles of other Schools… Where she somehow tripped, ruined the clothes they had brought by spilling a drink onto them, thus leading to them falling out of favor GREATLY with us."
A stickman drawing of nine demons, all looking upset, covered the rest of the page.
The house in the background burned with flames resembling a kid's drawing, showing the omnipotent drawing talent of this individual: Marlena.
'Truly, this physical manifestation of perfection is worthy of an award.'
His journey continued, while the chaos ensued outside.
Not like he could hear it.
"... Twenty-sixth of Yetilend, Year 453: The Queen has been staying in her room fairly often..."
'That's interesting… Does it say the reas- Nevermind, it doesn't.'
He flipped to the next page, only for a hand to lightly grasp his shoulder.
A stranger's whistles quickly snuck into his ears, spiking the hairs on his neck.
"I don't seem to recall Ned saying we'd have guests over… Please, turn around."
He slowly did as the voice, charming as a purple heather, requested.
… The one who caught him off-guard was a gorgeous, lavender-skinned female demon, with a worn-out shirt. Her mostly white hair struggled to reach the topmost part of the deep blue shorts she wore, with purple strands poking out of the "whiterfall."
"You must be the Queen."
…
The next day, the sun dawned over the entirety of the Teutonian lands and their five main cities. All of them, torn apart by conflict.
Blood and trash littered the former battlefield. Many citizens did not have the guts to leave the deceptive safety of their homes, while others… Either couldn't, or had to.
Innocent demons rushing to their homes, only to find them in ruins… And possibly be told some tragic news involving their families. Or what remains of them.
Healers working against the clock in order to save their dying patients. Some managed to do it, but the efforts of others fell short at the last moment.
A white haired demoness hiding most of her face with a scarf and a hood looked at the remains of the mayhem. Her shaky footsteps followed after another hooded figure… Who also didn't have the best time moving around.
"This… D-did I really bring this hell upon my land?"
"Correct, Violet. By hiding in the shadows while troubles rampaged unchecked, you have betrayed the trust of your people."
Her eyes remained fixated on the destruction left behind.
Even if she were to try to set things straight… The hands had already rugged the papers.
So, the next best thing she could do... was to cut them off. And make sure no other hands would cripple other papers again.
"…"
The unnerved Queen remained quiet, even after arriving at their destination: a certain restaurant.
The doors had been shut tight a while back, so they had no choice but to knock and wait.
'Who would have expected that this sort of authority figure would be forced to wait, in their own land?'
The door opened, revealing two figures, a bulky demon and a humanoid dragon with crimson scales, both pointing their weapons at the entrance.
"Ah?... Wait, wait! I know him!" yelled someone from the inside, who rushed out.
"You do?... Alright," voiced the demon, who stepped aside.
The rocky surface of his void-like skin insulated him from most of the environment, while providing him with protection.
Seeing the demon's reaction, the demon-like, red-scaled dragon deactivated the five magic circles. Indirectly causing the fire spears coming out of them to vanish.
And allowed the individual from earlier, a dark haired woman, to come out and wrap her arms around the body of one of the newcomers.
"You seem to be popular," commented the Queen.
"That's because I am," replied the man, without a hint of a doubt.
After all, he was currently one of the most popular individuals in Fegendale. Not because people loved him or anything, but because Monarch Orwell put a massive bounty on his head for anyone who brought him and his team back to the Palace. Alive.
Of course, he did think that Orwell would be pissed off, but he doesn't know just how enraged he was… Yet.
Anyway, his comment served to snap the human back to reality, prompting her to let go of him.
"... I'm just glad you're alright."
He smiled in reply. "Where's Ren? We sort of need to leave."
"Wait here for two moments. One for me to get Hiyoshin, and another to thank the restaurant owner!"
"Why?"
"He let us and the other clients stay overnight, while we waited for the streets to clear out."
And so, she left, while the duo kept at the door.
"Ren?"
"Ah, she's one of our… Teammates."
"I see."
And when both Jean and Hiyoshin arrived, they left. Hours later, they ended up taking off the hoods.
